Cleveland Cavaliers 11-12 season thread

hoops23Davis definitely has potential... Just think with the way the Cavs roster is set up, we could do something more if we were to get the #1 pick.

Hb31187I dont think AD will be the best player to come out of this draft, im really kinda skeptical about him too. Could be wrong however

robj55To be a superstar in the NBA, you must score. I don't see Davis being a superstar because he's not great offensively yet. He will no doubt impact the game right away, protect the rim, guard the pick and roll well due to his versatility. He has been out muscled for boards before so he will need to bulk up his frame.

Yeah, it is really a crap shoot. I mean I thought Oden was going to be an all star.Hb31187;1136169 wrote:I dont think AD will be the best player to come out of this draft, im really kinda skeptical about him too. Could be wrong however -

Camby's offensive game was far superior than AD's is at this point. But yeah they were similar in size.Hb31187;1136164 wrote:How big was camby when he came out though? He was kinda skinny and id still bet he outweighed AD
Edit, looked it up and they were abotu the same, maybe Marcus just carried the weight differently -

He would be if his knees weren't going on 100wes_mantooth;1136172 wrote:Yeah, it is really a crap shoot. I mean I thought Oden was going to be an all star. -

Yeah it really is. I just think players like MKG, Beal and Lamb are gonna be more reliable picks than AD. AD probably has just as high if not higher ceiling as those players, but with his body type and lack of scoring ability...its really a toss up for himwes_mantooth;1136172 wrote:Yeah, it is really a crap shoot. Yeah, but Camby had a lot more time to develop his inside game... Remember, Davis was 6'2'' just 2 years ago.robj55;1136176 wrote:Camby's offensive game was far superior than AD's is at this point. But yeah they were similar in size. -

I like MKG, to be an elite wing you need to be able to create your own shot(which is why I'm not high on Barnes), which he can. He can break down a D and attacks the rim like crazy, getting to the FT line is something that will come natural for him. In the NBA, the good teams get easy buckets, lay ups, FT's. The jump shot can be improved with hours in the gym, the form is there. He is also 6'7'' and a great athlete and versatile, have to feel like he can be a great defender as well. That's where I'm going if I'm the Cavs. Put Kyrie with him on the wing and you have a dynamic young core.hoops23;1136167 wrote:Davis definitely has potential... Agreed, I put that disclaimer in my posts, he has a ton of time to improve his offense. He does seem to have a natural feel for the game. Playing guard until his junior year helps with the skill set. Similarly to how Pau Gasol was a pg until he was like 14 or so.hoops23;1136181 wrote:Yeah, but Camby had a lot more time to develop his inside game... Remember, Davis was 6'2'' just 2 years ago. -
Hb31187If I were the Cavs id want MKG, Lamb(Uconn), Barnes/Beal in that order.

I'm not high on Lamb or Barnes. They both disappear and Barnes isn't great at creating on his own.Hb31187;1136196 wrote:If I were the Cavs id want MKG, Lamb(Uconn), Barnes/Beal in that order.
MKG then Beal for me. -
Hb31187
I think Lamb is gonna be a solid player, I just like his offensive game. I agree with you about Barnes howeverhoops23;1136213 wrote:I'm not high on Lamb or Barnes. They both disappear and Barnes isn't great at creating on his own.

GOONx19I definitely don't want Barnes, and I'd be hesitant to take Lamb.
-
KR1245I like Beals game but I'm a little worried about his height. I like 2's to be a little taller than 6'4
MKG is a beast, the kid is relentless on both ends of the floor. He kinda seems like a shorter Andy, somebody that will get under the skin of his opponents. He needs to work on his perimeter game but outside of that I dont see many flaws in him. I think he can be a star -
lhslep134We don't need Barnes to create his own, we have Kyrie.
Gimme Barnes, MKG, or Beal. I'm not a Lamb fan, but he is immensely talented. -

Kyrie can't create every shot for Barnes... You need a wing player that's able to beat his man off the dribble in the half court offense. That man is not Barnes.lhslep134;1136297 wrote:We don't need Barnes to create his own, we have Kyrie.

Y-Town SteelhoundJust to throw his name out there since he has the athletic tools, might be available when the Cavs pick, and fills a position of need (not that that is necessarily always the best way to go in drafts), what are everyone's thoughts on Andre Drummond?

Interesting prospect and I see he's in just about every mock top 5. I see he's a legit 6'11' and 260+ so he has good size.Y-Town Steelhound;1136300 wrote:Just to throw his name out there since he has the athletic tools, might be available when the Cavs pick, and fills a position of need (not that that is necessarily always the best way to go in drafts), what are everyone's thoughts on Andre Drummond?
I only saw him play once this year and he was a force inside. Blocked shots, rebounding, and showed some nice post moves. I wouldn't be mad at the pick.
If we were to sign a guy like OJ Mayo in FA, I think Andre Drummond (or Anthony Davis depending on our pick) becomes a realistic possibility.
We'd have some serious post defense. -
TigerNation10I'll take a toss up between MKG and Beal. But I just love the fact that Kyrie and MKG were high school teammates. Would love to see them together in Cleveland.
-
KR1245I'm not sure what to think about Drummond. I made a point to watch UCONN this year because of him and Lamb. At times he seems like he "checks out" of games. He wont look for anything at the offensive end and doesnt really seem to make an impact at the defensive end.
That being said, his potential alone makes him very intriguing. I have read where some scouts say that he is more polished than Dwight Howard was at the same age. I was surprised to see how quick he is, the kid moves really well for somebody his size. He has a perimeter game as well, the kid has a jumper. I wouldnt be upset at all if the Cavs take him, if he gets it together mentally he could be a dominant bigman -
Commander of AwesomeNBA Today podcast, Ryen Russilo said without a doubt its Davis at #1, and says MKG reminds of him Al Thorton. Doesn't think a lot of MKG does will work in the NBA.

Bring back Hollins and start him at PG. -

I think MKG is a very safe pick, but I don't think his ceiling is all that high in the NBA. He's a solid defender and glue guy, but nothing about his game strikes me as being elite at an NBA level.Commander of Awesome;1136658 wrote:NBA Today podcast, Ryen Russilo said without a doubt its Davis at #1, and says MKG reminds of him Al Thorton. He has no offensive ability at all, and I don't have any interest in taking a 5 year project.Y-Town Steelhound;1136300 wrote:Just to throw his name out there since he has the athletic tools, might be available when the Cavs pick, and fills a position of need (not that that is necessarily always the best way to go in drafts), what are everyone's thoughts on Andre Drummond? -
like_thatKyrie is out for at least 10 days. I think the Cavs tank seed should be higher. I would honestly consider shutting him down for the year. Why risk hurting him more. Rather have him working to get better in the offseason than having him working to rehab some injury.
