Cleveland Cavaliers 11-12 season thread

Cavs down 1 after the 1st quarter. Been watching the Ohio State game, all I saw was each team hit a 3 to end the quarter. Looks like Millsap is torching us though. 6-6 shooting in the quarter.

Also, Kanter doesnt look very good. Havent seen any "flashes" out of him like you see out of TT and Kyrie.
    Just for fun...

Varejao going wild out there. Too bad he charged.

What kind of fun did you have in mind?

I'll just say this, I wanted T2 over Kanter and Jonas.... And he's shown the potential as to why I wanted him on the Cavs.

Gotta love Twan shooting 3's at an alarming rate.

Kanter going to have a hell of a time getting on the floor, Utah is loaded in the front court. Jefferson, Milsap and Favors all ahead of him.
  • Mulva
I wanted Kanter. Utah is going to be in great shape up front if he develops. They're already solid, but they'll either have the deepest frontcourt in the league for a few years with Jefferson/Favors/Millsap/Kanter or they'll be able to move one of them as a pretty solid trade piece.

T2 dominated his workouts against Kanter when they were in Cleveland. If we had taken a Euro style big man, I preferred Kanter over Jonas, but T2 was a guy I really liked coming out. Defensively solid, intimidating shot blocking ability and has potential to develop a pretty good amount of offensive moves.

Millsap and Jefferson are 12/13 shooting. That's solid interior D.

Millsap and Jefferson are a great duo because they both play good with their back to the baskets and also can stretch out a bit and hit that 12-15 foot jumper.

Twan was getting abused by Millsap.

This is ok though. Cavs are 4-4, we need to start losing more often.

    Am I missing something here?

Posting an offensive stat and then saying it's solid D?

Solid interior D by the Cavs not.

I really hope we can trade Sessions and Andy for some picks, preferably 1st rounders...
  • hoops23
Kyrie with 20/5 tonight on 7/14 shooting...

    Also played pretty solid defense.

Cavs were killed inside, but kept it close. These are the games I'll enjoy as a realistic fan wanting to build for the future. A hard fought L with the rookies looking good.

Also, I see Brian Windhorst spoke about the Cavs.. Taken from RCF:
So here's a quick synopsis from what I remember of the Windy interview:

He called in and they asked him about Anderson Varejao trade rumors, and and he said that people have wanted Anderson Varejao because of his defensive skills and motor, but the Cavs want to keep him for now unless they're blown away. They may be probing the league for his value and may look to trade him in the future, but for now they're very happy with him and the team in general.

The two guys they're actively looking to trade are Sessions and Jamison. He said specifically that the Knicks are "lusting" after Sessions, but a deal is hard because they have almost no assets left.

They started talking about the team, starting with the way Kyrie has been playing. He said that it seems Kyrie may be hitting a wall already- it's clear he's not in shape due to his injury and long layoff BUT it's clear that the cavs got a player, who looks to be head and shoulders above anyone else in the 2011 draft class.

He thinks the Cavs may almost be too good right now (the majority of RCF agrees) because realistically they need another top 5 pick, and he said that if Grant makes trades during the season, it'll be for 2012 picks. They started talking about the 2012 draft prospects, and he said that if you put a gun to Grant/Gilbert's head and asked them who they wanted, they'd probably say Harrison Barnes.

Sessions could put up some huge assist games in New York. His shooting has been garbage though. Disappointing after how well he played in the opener. So much for that whole "playing with more confidence than he ever has" thing.

They really don't have any assets though.

I had to SMH at Sessions today after he blew a wide open lay-up...

I like how he plays though, and do hope we find a team for him in exchange for a pick or something.
