Do the Browns draft RGIII?

Keyword is current. That's my whole point. Rookie QBs on shit teams don't stand a chance. And in Cleveland, it seems to be rinse and repeat with the QB situations.

Sexy Rexy wasn't great at Chicago but they made it to a Superbowl because they had the other pieces.

I don't. I wasn't disagreeing with you about your point about needing a good to great QB to win. Just pointing out that Big Ben sucked during that first win.

I feel like his vision is a HUGE issue, more so than his arm strength. People are bitching about all these intermediate routes, but it seems there are guys open and he either 1) can't see them or 2) sees them but has to wait for them to enter a throwing lane (or throw through a lane) which either causes him to be late with the throw and the guy isn't open, or makes the throw inaccurate. This is the biggest factor on 3rd and 4 or 5. I wish I could find the stats on this, but it seems like McCoy has taken more sacks in this situation than anyone I have ever seen. In what should be a down and distance that the offense should be able to convert, we are lucky to even get a pass off. It would be nice if Shurmur would design plays/routes that might help McCoy, but you can't be rolling your QB out or going from the gun every 3rd down.

If you'd ask most of this fan base who is defending him because he's a "likeable" guy, his receivers NEVER get open and completely suck. It's never on him.

It's a combination of the O-Line, WR's and crappy play by McCoy. I don't see his arm getting stronger/being able to make certain throws and I also don't see him getting any taller. He'll deal with batted down balls his whole career.

Sure I do. If Trent Dilfer can win one, Colt can. Now, do I think he will win one? No, I do not. But I think with the right pieces and the right coach, Colt is a sufficient enough QB to win one.

My only point throughout this wholeeeeeeeeeeee thing--there are a lot more dire needs on this team than the QB. Colt is just the fall guy right now--no one wants to mention his awful WRs and terrible OL. Lets just blame the QB, because hey were Cleveland, that's what we do!

Also LOL @ "can't see over the line"

    Drew Brees laughs at you

And another LOL @ "current skillset" Yeah, cause no one can improve from their 2nd year on.....SMH

I agree that they have many needs on this team. As long as they move on from McCoy, whether it's this year or next, I'm fine. As long as they move on from him because he's not going to take this team anywhere.

Swap QB's with the Steelers for that game the other night and I bet Roethlisberger, with the current Browns supporting cast, beats a Colt McCoy-led Steelers team.

Colt McCoy WISHES he could SNIFF Brees' jock.

Drew Brees is an exception. He along with Mike Vick are the only 2 guys succeeding in the NFL that I can think of right now that are short. Both have very strong arms, and utilize the downfield passing game. Obviously, Vick is also a freak of an athlete and most successful when out of the pocket. I know Colt is young and has time to improve, but I think it can be debated that he will never be able to be successful throwing the ball down the field like those 2 guys do.

Oh you mean a 7 year QB is better than our 2nd year QB? Ya don't say!

Yeah too bad I wasn't comparing their abilities..rather pointing out that short QBs can succeed.

Gabbert is doing real well seeing over those lines isn't he? Man, that height thing sure is underrated!

Just tossing that out there to the fools who keep saying "we couldn't win even with Aaron Rodgers/Tom Brady/Peyton Manning back there." Your affirmation just proved my point of McCoy's worth.

You can't compare that though, because those QBs didn't get where they are by being thrown into a shitty situation in their 1st or 2nd year.

Well hang on now..you put up Rodgers or Brady on the team they'll certainly win. My point is you can win a super bowl two ways..1-super star qb average everything else..2- average qb superstar everything else

We can do the second one with McCoy we just don't have the pieces yet..stop asking McCoy to be Aaron Rodgers because that's what you want and that's not going to happen

Then people need to shut their holes with the preposterous "couldn't win with <insert franchise QB>" claims.

It's bullshit. Elite QB's will make the talent around them BETTER. That's firmly why I believe Heckert didn't upgrade this roster. I don't think the front office are fools. I think they wanted to see if McCoy was the type of QB that the talent (lack of, in this case) would rise up to or if he was just a mediocre QB that they had to surround with mega-talent. I think that question has been answered.

I'd settle for a "better than average QB" in McCoy's case but that doesn't seem to be happening. It would be great if he was this "accurate' QB that was touted coming out of Texas but I question that claim too.

Yeah, because the people who have no emotional ties to McCoy because he's a "likeable gamer" agree with me and most of the national analysts.

I'm still waiting for links to "the front office separating themselves from McCoy"

I figured that was just your typical BS you spew to sway the Browns fans on here, but never do you actually make up stuff like that. Tisk tisk.

Don't need "links." I think most people can see with their own eyes that if a stud QB is there they will likely take them. You're such a fucking crybaby. People can get you so worked up with minimal effort. LOL

I'm not worked up at all actually...I have no ties to McCoy. I think its too early to start ripping his head off. Give the guy a decent team around him before we start calling him shit.

But no..BR knows all, he's seen so many super bowl winning browns teams in his day

You are making my point easy. The Browns put rookie QBs in and expect them to be veterans that make their team better. Then they shit on them because they are not that.

If you want that, then the Browns need to go get a veteran QB and quit drafting the sexy QB that year.

Since 99 the Browns have drafted two 1st round QB's, Couch & Quinn. Now Couch might have been something but Quinn was never going to be. It's not like they are drafting a 1st round QB year in and year out.

They don't have to be 1st round picks. I would put McCoy and even Anderson in the group of QB "saviors" who had no chance.

McCoy is a 3 rd qb for a reason. He's not talented enough let's face it. I would like for then to take a qb this year either luck Barkley or rg3. And let McCoy start next year with better talent and if he can't get it done turn it over to the qb drafted. This is pretty deep draft this year we could easily get 4-5 starters out of this draft and 1 or 2 big impact players.
