Sure, if they feel there is a reason too. I don't buy into the whole "NASCAR threw the caution to make the race more exciting" shit some seem to think. -
GoChiefsMade official today:
Matt Kenseth to drive the #20 Hope Depot Toyota for Joe Gibbs Racing in 2013.
Joey Logano to drive the #22 Shell Pennzoil Ford for Penske Racing in 2013. -

It seems Daytona 24h has gained a lot of attention because of the NASCAR racers entering. Michael Waltrip is part owner of a racing team with Ferrari's who even enter Le Man's.Speedofsand;1261493 wrote:Press conference tomorrow at 10am to announce merger of GrandAm and ALMS. Leads me to a question, what is the differences between the FIA World Endurance races overseas (Le Mans, Sebring, Silverston, etc) and the Grand Am/ALMS series racing here in the states?
Doesn't both series allow LMP like race cars on the track at the same time as Grand Tourers? -
SpeedofsandNascar drivers been joining the 24 for many years. I've seen 5 or 6 Nascar guys in it before at once. Allmendinger was amazing this year for the last 3 hours to win. The ALMS has classes that run WEC (LeMans) but Grand Am has not. Don Panoz owns Sebring, it has been ALMS since '99.
Here are the ALMS classes broken down. http://www.alms.com/alms101/classes. Several GT cars can be fit to run in the Daytona 24. Tequila Patron CEO Ed Brown was a key in getting the two series together. He drove the Ferrari with Scott Sharp here this year.
GrandAm has 2 main classes, (DP) Daytona Prototypes and GT. The Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge is (GS) Grand Sport and (ST) Street Tuner. They are more showroom type cars but have great car count for races. Like about 25-35 of each on track all at the same time this week at Laguna Seca.
The merger begins in 2014, there are still lots of competition details to work on. They said they will have cars at LeMans, and are meeting with manufacturers in Europe to make everything go together. -

Thanks for the link. Pretty sure I've seen the Continental Tire series? Remember watching some race where it started raining and a Subaru charged to the front in a matter of a few laps since AWD, think it was the Continental Tire series?Speedofsand;1263005 wrote:Nascar drivers been joining the 24 for many years. By chance ya ever catch the "super GT" series from Japan? That is really cool racing just because so many different manufacturers compete.
You have the "big three" in Japan (Honda, Toyota and Nissan) along with European cars such as Aston Martin, Ferrari, Lamborghini and McLaren. -
SpeedofsandYeah that would be the Subaru of Bret Spaude. He and his teammate won New Jersey this year. There are a few Aston Martins in the Conti series, Patrick Dempsey is one. I follow the Roush Mustangs #51 & 61. Jack Roush Jr & Billy Johnson won Mid-Ohio this year.
Never seen the Super GT from Japan, where do you tune in?

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) -- NASCAR on Thursday passed a rule that will curb the ability of teams to set their cars up in a way that gives the driver easier rear steer.
The technical bulletin issued by NASCAR goes into effect next week at Chicago, when the Chase for the Sprint Cup championship begins, and many believe it is aimed directly at powerhouse Hendrick Motorsports. -

A rule change because of the Hendrick teams??? Shocking. -

Pretty sure it was on Speed. May have been some odd AM hours. Some channel on Direct TV had a few different races. Thinking it was Speed Channel. -
SpeedofsandLiterally new from the factory, before the race.

gerb13188 on the pole for Richmond.

iclfan2Glad Kenseth is making the move to JGR. Roush can't keep a sponsor to save their lives, and their golden boy Carl isn't even going to make the chase. The trio of Kenseth, Busch, and Hamlin should be pretty solid next year. As for the wreck with Tony, Kenseth did move up into him, but Tony drove them both down to the bottom to wreck completely. Then he had a little fit and threw his helmet. Stewart had been dogging Kenseth all year, he'll get over it. Richmond should be exciting with all of the people trying to make it into the Chase, wish it was on Saturday instead of Sunday and the start of football season.

smh. Roush has had big sponsors just like anyone. Plus he gets Ford factory money. Stewart is already over it with Kenseth. They talked after Bristol. Richmond is tonight. :rolleyes:iclfan2;1264411 wrote:Glad Kenseth is making the move to JGR. Some of the commentators were joking on Twitter that Romney seems to be a lightning rod for NASCAR. He was in Daytona for the 500 and we know how rain was there. He was to give the start your engines command tonight and it rained. He ended up leaving due to the delay and having campaign stops to get to for tomorrow, and then it stopped raining. -

ts1227What is the point of starting the race under a green/yellow condition? Just run extra pace laps and don't count it.
