Official 2012 NASCAR Thread

Today's finish is why I like sports cars. My favorite new driver Billy Johnson got a shout out from P4 Stenhouse after the Nationwide at The Glen. Edwards won. Billy's team also won the Grand Am race Saturday in the 94 Turner BMW.
Billy will drive a Roush car next week in the Montreal Nationwide race.
  • Speedofsand
Billy was 2nd at the end of the Montreal race, but had to pit for gas while they went GWC, 7 laps extra on a road course. Restarted 20th and still raced to 8th in the last two laps.

Dale Jr's guys played a good prank but it went sour. Hahaha

Tony Stewart with one hell of a helmet toss at Kenseth. Perfect strike on the front end.

How much longer does Chip allow Montoya to stay in NASCAR?

Thought it was a little wimpy, considering it was two handed.

Best race of the year last night. I was entertained.

Removing the progressive banking made all the difference in the world.

Matt Kenesth is a prick. Damn it. I use to kinda like him.

I still don't like having 2 grooves. That's still not Bristol.

As for Kenseth and Stewart, they both were at fault, IMO. Stewart is just a whiner. Matt did nothing that Tony wouldn't have done. Just another case of it's OK for me to do, but not OK for you from Stewart.
  • said_aouita
Tony should of just wrecked him, like hopefully he does the last few races before the chase.

    I'm sure he'll give it a try.

To be fair, that's about the first time ever that Kenseth hasn't whined. He always has some snide comment assigning blame, he just isn't as over the top about it as someone such as Tony or either Busch.

True. As I've said in the past, when it comes down to it, they are all whiners when things don't go their way.

I usually dont comment on nascar anymore. I used to love watching it. The wrecks and fights was what I was raised on watching. I used to go to bristol when I was a kid and watch my uncle race on saturday nights. Only stands was on the front stretch and you could go watch on the hill if you wanted too. I remember watching Earnhardt and Richard petty argue in the parking lot after a race one year. Having two grooves at bristol ruins the race. I guess its just become to political. No fighting you get fined no wrecking you get fined. Ohh well I still watch once in awhile and would still like to attend a race at martinsville.
  • Speedofsand
Looked like it was one groove last night and it was up top. Oh the irony. Jeff Gordon said it during the race. Dale Jr came in the closed pits and said he couldn't get back by the cars after losing track position.
    T. Peters led the truck race every lap Wed. night. Thats not Bristol.
  • GoChiefs
Agreed that there was a groove up top, and it was the fastest, but they were still racing side by side in the bottom groove.

They aren't AS bad as they have been in years past. Who was it at Texas? Gordon and Burton I believe, got into it after an incident and NASCAR didn't do anything to them.

Martinsville is a good race to attend but I highly recommend Richmond as well.

I always wanted to go to Richmond too. I used to go to a different track every year when I was younger and made it to quite a few. Then like everything else had to start taking care of family. Kinda hard to find time now. I will get to those two before I die though. I have found myself watching more lately then I have in the past few years.

I started going to Martinsville when ISC bought it. Met my woman there, she is from South Boston. ISC made a lot of improvements to Martinsville in a few years. The locals told us how much they liked it every time we went back. Same thing with Richmond, every year something was changed. I like Richmond much better than Martinsville. Homestead is awesome, when OSU-Mich were #1&2 I watched it under the stands before the Nationwide race. Been to Bristol a couple times, it should be on everyone's bucket list.
The best track of all is still Eldora.

Worst. Interviewer. Ever. He didn't get that part from his Dad.

Even Cale Yarborough, Dale sr. and Bobby Allison sounded like "whiners", immediately after being wrecked.

I'm impressed how cool Dale jr always stays. At least once I'd like to see him pull a Tony, Kyle or Harvick type temper tantrum. Jr. will get aggressive on the track but has he ever had "an incident in the pits" with another driver?
  • WebFire
No, they sounded pissed and usually had good reason to be. Nowadays, these bitches whine if you race them too hard.
  • Speedofsand
LMAO @ Harvick last night QQing about a Nascar caution under 10 to go. He was mad at BK for throwing a water bottle out. Stenhouse made a nice last lap pass to win.
My girl is going to Richmond next week, wish I could too. Might be real exciting for guys trying to make the chase.
  • GoChiefs
Sad part was, it wasn't the damn water bottle that brought the caution out. Then when brought to Harvick's attention, he says NASCAR just throws cautions whenever they want. Yes, because a 6 second victory at Michigan is exactly what everyone wanted to see. Dumbass.
  • GoChiefs
Of course, here's the piece of aluminum in front of the track officials foot that brought out the "imaginary" caution.

They do bring out cautions whenever they want.
