Week 9: Cleveland Browns (3-4) @Houston Texans (5-3)

Andre Johnson didn't practice yesterday, Kubiak said he hadn't recovered fully from the previous workout and they were taking a precaution. Currently he is day to day (but then aren't we all). The Texans have a way of playing down to their competition at the wrong times. I don't see that happening Sunday, but its in the back of the mind of most fans. The Kool Aid is being made and consumed by some, but we are all leary of drinking it in large batches.

Texans will have no problems with the Browns, who have seemed to regress, and it's only going to get worse.

Another factor, although I don't know how big of a deal, is that the Browns signed Chris Ogbanaya, a former Texans RB. If anything he might be able to give insight to the Houston offense. I was sad to see him waived, but Houston has depth at the RB position.

Until he becomes a little flexible/creative, they will continue to lose and people will continue to bitch about "how bad the O-Line and WR's are" which isn't completely the case.
At least with Mangini, you could count on him and Ryan being creative. This group has shown no such skill. Ugh.

Crap, just getting close to the cover curses you. Wasn't Vick the second-place guy in the voting? He was good last week, but up until then, he'd gotten concussed and was playing FAR behind what he did last year on a "dream team" that was playing below expectations.

    Texans by 10 or so.

Agreed. I'm wondering if Shurmur is really trying to win or if he's looking to "evaluate." If he was trying to give them a fighting chance I think that McCoy would be in more shotgun/hurry up formations. He's trying to force the square peg in a round hole by forcing McCoy to take the 3, 5 & 7 step drops when a) he's a midget and b) the O-Line is not in good shape.

    # Browns RB Peyton Hillis (hamstring) said if today were Sunday, he'd play in Houston. Is on track to start Sunday.

    # browns wr Mohamed massaquoi (concussion)said there's no question he'll play Sunday.

good news on both. I don't see us winning this game. I don't see us staying close in this game if andre plays, but if he isn't out there, I think we can be in a position to win. But it will be the same story with the offense.
  • BR1986FB
I just want to see the offense improve. Hell, a 1st quarter TD would be a "victory" at this point. :(

I hope Hillis gets to form this game but I doubt it. The offense could look a lot better with a better running game. It also wouldn't hurt to keep Andre and foster off the field for long periods of time.

    30-10 texans

Andre was held out of a second straight practice yesterday. Kubiak says it was cooler than normal and the hamstring didn't loosen up, so they sat him. Still DTD. I really doubt you see Andre Johnson Sunday.

In the last ten years, I have truly only seen the Texans play a couple complete games where the offense and defense dominated. One was against the Bengals a few years ago and they did it against the Colts and Titans this year...so the Browns have a chance to be in this game, if the offense continues to perform below their own expectations or if they can exploit a thin secondary. (see: Karim Jackson)

Andre Johnson is officially out for Sunday's game. This does not come as a surprise. So at least Brown's fans have that going for them.

I don't get why these players try and force the issue. Such a blow.

Hillis slowly losing support in Browns locker room....

This doesn't surprise me because a) the Browns offense is so vanilla and b) Lombadi has had an agenda against the Browns since they fired him...

Colt McCoy - QB - Browns
According to NFL Network's Michael Lombardi, the Browns are "so integrated into the West Coast system that their predictability is becoming legendary around the league."

Lombardi puts Browns film on every week, calls a former NFL coach and relays the personnel group, formation, ball location and motion. The former coach has been correct "95 percent" of the time in guessing the Browns' play. Lombardi notes that while the Saints, Packers and Eagles all use West Coast principles, the Browns are the only team exclusively using the offense which hasn't seen a Super Bowl winner since the 2002 Bucs.

Great. Hillis won't be signed, then he will have chip on his shoulder, and dominate the next 3 years. Mark it down.

Between his family members and his agent he's got some dumb mother fuckers getting up into his ear giving him advice. For someone that was once thought to be a good old humble Arkansas boy he's starting to come across as a diva douchebag. Needs to just get on the field and prove his worth but it may be too late.

I think it's the media just blowing shit out of proportion. It's quite easy to stir up the pot when someone is hurt and isn't playing.
