Full NBA Season in Jeopardy?

  Sad but true:
  
  MLB are mostly white, so they are eliminated

  I would guess that this is where the perceived attitude towards NBA players comes from, from the general public.

  I watch a lot of NBA so I guess I could say it would suck for there not to be a season but not having an NFL season would have been much worse for me.

  I'd miss seing Irving and Thompson play, but a canceled season would work for me as well. The Cavs would most likely get another great pick either way.

  To make it a bit more relevant. Everyone loves Andre Johnson, and he and Finnegan went to blows last year. No one talks about it, or labels them thugs. But when the NBA players get in fights on the court they are. I think it was the Nuggets - Knicks a few years ago.

  Hockey players have done it, but theyre not thugs. Hell, when basketball players fight eachother theyre thugs. But in baseball and hockey its "part of the game"

  I was wondering how they did that. Do they just have another lottery with how they finished in 2010 (without teams getting 2 picks, just a straight draft) or what?

  You also have to factor how those guys act off the court too. Sure there are def idiots in the NFL, there just seems to be many more thug idiots in the NBA.

  I was talking about how people look at the athletes of each of those respected sports. Basketball players get a bad rap for doing the same things players in the other professional leagues do, and theres not really a good reason for it.

  I would bank that more NFL "thugs" get in trouble than NBA "thugs". Probably just because theres more NFL players overall. Id bet the % is about the same, but theres no real way to prove it
  
  I mean aside from Artest and Crittenton(sp) there really hasnt been too many NBA players gettin in big big trouble lately. Hell theres probably been more players on the Bengals gettin in trouble the past 2 years then the NBA as a whole haha

  There are contradictions all over sports. Hockey, fighting has always been accepted. Baseball, well, they dont really fight. They run out and mill around for a bit.
  
  You are a good fan in some sports if you yell and scream, in othe sports you have to keep quiet.
  
  
  As far as getting in trouble........Well, the NFL does have a 53 man roster compared to what, 12 or 15 in the NBA?
  
  Alot of European and foreign guys in the NBA and I think they are keeping the arrest rates lower than maybe in the NFL.

  I really just think the idiots are louder and dont have the restrictions on them in the media that NFL players do. Chris Henry, Plax, Adam Jones, and a few others Im sure Im missing are just as outlandish and thuggish as Artest, Crittenden, Iverson. But they dont get to take the stand and talk about it. NBA the media selects the players after each game and before each game who is going to be interviewed and at the pressers. In the NFL, its the same to an extent, but the QB is almost always there as well as the star for the team. With so many players and only games once a week with Saturday as a media day...the time for these morons to talk publicly is drastically reduced compared to those in the NBA.
  
  Not really disagreeing that the NBA may have more, cause I cant say one way or the other. But the public has unfairly labeled the NBA as a "gangster/thug" league while the NFL can do no wrong. Same types of things happen in both leagues.

  Part of that reason is because football is king, at all levels.
  
  Also, when you watch an NBA game you can very easily see all the players inked up, wearing the baggy pants, and when they get into eachother's face and such it is so much easier to see than in the NFL. You get a more up close look at NBA players, and what they say and how they look as opposed to the NFL.
  Also it may sound stupid but some of the players in the NFL wear different arm sleeves or whatnot. The NFL has a uniform code thay can wear just those black things on the elbows or long sleeves.
  
  
  
  Most barking back and forth in the NFL is either off camera to the viewer, or too far away from the fan if they are at the game, and much of it is hidden because of the facemask.
  
  Much of it can come down to race as well. The NBA doesnt have a very high percentage of high profile white players. The NFL has quite a number of white guys in prominant, star roles.

  Even though you were defending the NBA and not knocking other leagues, I'll disagree. Athletes get paid as much as they do due to the amount of revenue they/their team/their sport brings in, and they perform an activity at a level that 99.9% of society couldn't.

  it is funny how much more popular the nfl is than the nba. People were truly worried about the NFL and its lockout...most people I know could give a shit less about whether the NBA starts before February.

  Nice find. Figured it would be a lot closer than that. Even just looking at the ALCS lineups you got Santiago, Cabrera, Martinez, Peralta, Avila, Andrus, Beltre, and Cruz as position players.
  
  A lot of pitchers seem to be white. Maybe that's where numbers come from.

  On a real note though, I'm a senior Sport Management major looking for jobs and this takes away a large group of job opportunities in an already tough industry. I also know of a guy who got hired out of college in the spring to work for the Cavs. He could likely be laid off now. Tough situation for the other people that put on these pro sporting events and work for these teams.

  That is a hard market but you had to know what you were getting in to when you declared that as your major.
