Worst commish.....Goodell, Stern or Selig who takes the cake?

And eh i wont miss the NBA regular season too much, if they have a short season and still have the playoffs thats what id prefer. Because playoff NBA basketball is great
  • wes_mantooth
    Selig.... not even close
  • Hb31187
I think all 3 are pretty bad. Selig has fucked everything up. Stern always has that smug little smirk that someone needs to wipe off his face (but has done a good job expanding the game overseas) And Goodell has made the NFL into flag football with him being the dictator. And I cant even lie, i have no idea who the NHL commish is
  • wes_mantooth
Yeah, all three are bad. I just think Selig' s handling of the steroid issue was almost criminal

Ill be a little bummed, I was looking forward to watching Kyrie play. Once college ball starts I probably won't miss it at all
  • Mulva
Stern might be the worst at this point. Selig has the worst overall legacy.
  • like_that
    Selig is easily the worst.
  • 2kool4skool
Selig's historical legacy will be the worst, Stern's the best. Goodell's a little early to tell, but I'd guess he'll be considered pretty much average.

Won't even notice it's gone. I'll be too immersed in the NFL, college basketball and the NHL. Then when bowl season the NFL, and the NHL are done, it'll be that black hole time for me (I don't follow baseball, either) until college football and the NFL start up again.

    Bettman.

    Stern is a weasel.

Stern is the best imo. He screwed up a bit with some things when Jordan retired. But the NBA has really bounced back in the last few years. This coming year is/was poised to be very good for the game. When Stern was early on, the NBA was the sport. It was huge. Bigger than the NHL, NFL, and MLB. Back in the 80s all the way through the late 90s. Stern has done a great job, despite my hatred for some of the rules changes etc. They HAVE been good for the growth of the sport because it has hit the target audience perfectly.

Selig is horrible. The steroid era was such a joke and black eye for Selig and he was in charge during that time. He has to be the worst.

Bettman is making a strong case for a comeback, as the NHL is making a nice little comeback from irrelevancy.

Goodell is tough to judge, cause a monkey could be commish of the NFL and not fuck up the sport. But in general, Id say he is average. He makes some dumb decisions, but he has been in charge for some of the biggest ratings ever.

The ratings are big in spite of him. Goodell has done nothing that would lead to any kind of ratings boost. His approval rate has to be terrible

Yeah I agree if I had to rank them from best to worst I'd go

    Stern

    Goodell
    Bettman

    Selig

Which is why I said he will go down as average. I dont like what hes done, but you cant deny the NFL is at its peak, and he is in charge. It has to count for something.

I hope it comes back. I like College Basketball but in all honesty when compared to NBA, I think it sucks. The one and done rule and the pathetic Three Point line are a couple reasons why. Has diluted the game so much.

I know I am in the minority but give me NBA over NCAA anyday. Basketball is by far my favorite sport although I prefer watching NFL over NBA.

I don't get into the NBA until playoff time. Most of the guys seem to go through the motions during the regular season until the 4th quarter. NBA players are apathetic to defense and the "offenses" they run really prevent me from getting to attached. I hate when Lebron/Kobe/D-wade stand around and dribble in 1 on 1 type stuff. The game is really boring. Add on top of that that the officiating in the NBA is atrocious (no idea what a travel or double dribble is, inconsistent calls, and star treatment all get annoying)

I always laugh when people bring up a lack of defense in the NBA. You give the good college teams an extra eight minutes and lower their shot clock by a third and they'll score 98 points a game, too. The bad teams won't because, well, they're not good.

Same, its really just a testament to them not liking he NBA for whatever reason. NBA defense > NCAAB defense.

Yeah I do as well. And even if they left it at 40 minutes but lowered the shot slock you'd see more points scored. Those great teams who play great defense will make/get stops/force bad shots easier and get more positions resulting in more points.

This. Its the cliche thing to say when you dont care for the NBA. And usually they refer to the scores being so high as proof the players are not playing defense. Good offense beats good defense, end of story.
  • Heelz
I'll miss it some but as long as we have college bball I'm good. I however dont want these overpaid crybaby bitches to get thier way.
  • OQB
Won't miss it at all...these players need put back in their place because shit has gotten out of hand in the NBA.

Give me College football/basketball, MLB, and NFL over the NBA
  • Hb31187
Thats another thing i dont understand. How are the NBA players so much worse than the other leagues? They do nothing different.

All pro athletes are overpaid, not just NBA players
All pro athletes bitch about calls, not just NBA players
