Yes I'm being a bitch because I don't think the Phils will score enough runs to beat Carpenter. Do I think the Phils can win game 5 yes but it will have to be a 1-0, 2-1 type game. If the Cards score 3 or 4 runs I dont see the Phils pulling it out. Doc will have to bring his best stuff and be able to go 8 or 9 innings. The key for Doc is to get through the first inning with no runs allowed and getting the leadoff hitter each inning. He has really struggled this season getting the innings leadoff hitter who are hitting around .300 off of him. I believe Carpenter will go 6-8 strong innings. I hope I'm wrong.

Howard, Raul and Shane will have to have good games at the plate and help J-Roll out.

Impressive how valuable Jerry Hairston Jr has been in this series.

Micah Owings was 8-0 this season and has pitched several innings in the playoffs.

Mucho Presuure on the Yankees tonight!

Often in the playoffs it seems as if managers do silly things that don't add up.....but somehow work....see Bob Brenly

I think a Yankees move that makes no sense on paper....but one of those gut feelings.....give Andruw Jones the start over Swisher or Gardner.

Don Kelly will play 3rd for Detroit, Magglio will get the start in the outfield. Also Verlander threw a bullpen session today and won't be used at all tonight

Man....if it went into extra innings or after Valverde was done.....and I had Justin verlander.....he'd pitch, and he would take that ball every time.
  • karen lotz
Yep I think the same thing. I guess he asked Leyland if there was any chance of him pitching tonight and he said no. That was before he threw the bullpen session.

Not related to playoffs, but Chi-Sox announce Robin Ventura as their new manager.

The anti-Guillen. I'm pretty pumped about this move, but I don't really know his managerial history.

Has he ever managed? He was an advisor for the team for most of the past season.

First road trip to Texas and Ryan's kicking his ass again.

Swisher, maybe. But Gardner is a huge +fielding and +speed guy, that benching him for an equal bat is iffy.

He hasn't, just googled it. But neither did Ozzie. I meant anti-Guillen in terms of personality obviously.

My post says it's dumb on paper....

Jones would get it done. He would catch anything he touches and his arm still works. He wouldn't need his speed jogging around the bases on a 2 run HR.

I hear you. Girardi to me seems like a pretty big numbers/by the book guy.

Don Kelly FTW. Leyland strikes again.

Back to back for Tigers wow.
  • Tiger2003
    Great start for Detroit.
  • Tiger2003
Definitely a pitcher strike zone tonight.
  • SportsAndLady
    Come on Detroit..win

I want to taste my roommate's tears after the Yankees lose
  • Tiger2003
Wow Nova is done. Yankees with the quick hook.
  • chicago510
Girardi pulls Nova after 2 innings. I get that he gave up the 2 solo HR...but this early?
