It was a knee jerk reaction by idiot Bud Selig. Everyone was pissed at him after he decided to end the 2001(or was it 2002?) all star game in a tie. He panicked and decided ONE game for the fans should help determine the outcome of the WS. SMH.

Most home teams win game 7. The All Star game, consisting of players who didn't even play in the playoffs, might determine the outcome of the WS.

No way the Celtics collapse in 2010 was way more epic than this!!!!

Last night was just an amazing game. Can not wait for game 7 tonight.

I agree that its ridiculous that the all-star game determines who gets home field advantage in the world series.

The best part will be when Brian Wilson continues his "I have a beard, so I'm super-witty" streak by finding a way to take credit for the Cards because he saved the all-star game for the NL.

Home field didn't seem to matter when the AL team had it, did it?

I agree that it's a stupid way to determine home field, but how do you do it in a manner where luck doesn't enter into it? If you go back to alternating years, the team with the best record could get the short end. If you give it to the team with the best record it doesn't always mean they are the best team, because they could have played in a pansy-assed division, like the AL Central.

I don't have the answer, other than deal with what we've got.

I will say this, however. This city is on fire after last night's game. Busch should be a madhouse tonight.

Give Home field to the team with the better record of the 2 teams that make it to the World Series. Thats how it is done for the NLDS/NLCS and ALDS/ALCS.

Holliday is out tonight with a wrist injury.

Give homefield advantage to the league who has the best record in inter-league play. That will be even better once they have season long inter-league play with every team playing at least 3 games against every team in the other league. The the kicker, if one league does not achieve at least 51% of the wins, it reverts to the all-star game winner. That may be able to add some extra excitement at the end of the season.

How do they do it in the NBA?

Has anyone heard how Napoli and his ankle is after overnight and a chance to stiffen up?

Rangers are going to turn into the bills of baseball after they choke this series away

Yeah I definitely can see your side of the argument...and I don't disagree.. Just personal preference I guess. I like how the all-star game means something..makes it worth watching.

    Freese is going off.

    Freese is god

4 runs so far in the first, split by the two teams - looks like we've got a high scoring battle going on.
  • mhs95_06
The first inning extrapolates to 30+ runs in the game and about 400 pitches. I may have a chance for the 25/1 odds on the vbookie.
  • mhs95_06
Pitching settling in some now after 3 and both pitchers having gone thru the top of the order twice with only one more run. Five total runs with 54 and 51 pitches which extrapolates to a more normal 315 pitches in the game.

Tonight's home plate umpire not nearly as good as last night's. Molina should have been called out on strikes to end the 5th rather than a run being walked in!

You mean the Rangers. Craig was struck out on the pitch before his HR....and then Feldman hits the corner on Molina and doesn't get the call walking in a run. The ump might see better if he'd line up behind the catcher instead of the 3B side.

Ron Washington has been his own worst enemy. Now that he's down 3 runs maybe he'll stop bunting. This Rangers team makes it's living murdering the ball...not playing little ball.

This is the best idea I've heard so far.

The allstar game winner is dumb ... but less dumb than just alternating years.
  • mhs95_06
Cards have gotten it down to needing 6 outs with a 3-run lead.
  • mhs95_06
Now down to 3 outs and a 4 run lead. Does Tony keep Lynn in the game in the 9th? And then bring in the lefty if either Cruz or Napoli gets on?

This series is going to eat at those Texas players for a long time with how close they came.
