There officially done. I wish Dolan would surprise us and throw a fuck load of money at Pujols this offseason but that's a 0 percent chance of happening

This may have been mention but Buster Olney said that both Thome and Jason Kubel were claimed off waivers by two AL Central teams today. It's speculated those teams were the Tribe & ChiSox.

I'd like to see them bring Jimmie back...would be good karma, and a chance to repair some old wounds. Like a lot of people, I was mad and disappointed when he left, but I've forgiven him now. He'll go into the HOF as an Indian as rightfully he should. Whether the team falters or not, it would make September a little special to have the big guy back.

It could have sparked the team like Lofton did in 07. Too bad we fell off the cliff. 1 of 4 from Seattle AT HOME? Gross.

Kinda wished Wily Mo would've charged the mound on Durbin.....that would be much fun.

And "good karma" would likely be about all it would be. Kubel would actually be the better choice (better average, plays 5 positions, etc) but Thome would be the "good will" gesture and might put some people in the seats down the stretch. I'd say the plug on the Tribe's "life support" has been pulled.

Id rather Thome, as we could sign him cheap for next year. Kubel will demand more years and money, so it would be worthless to have him this year.

    I agree with this.

the White Sox also put in a claim on Thome.

Since they have the worse record, that is where he will go unless Minnesota pulls him back.

as of when? Sox and Tribe are tied now.
  • Mark Mack
Chicago will be below Cleveland again in a couple hours when Weaver completes his gem.

Depends on when the Tribe put in the claim. If it was before they lost to the M's, ChiSox get first dibs. If it was after, Tribe gets first dibs. Doesn't matter what Chicago did AFTER the waiver claim was put in. Only matters what the records were at the time of the claim. I'm only relaying what they said on WKNR/ESPN yesterday when I first heard about this.
  • Mark Mack
According to the article on MLBTradeRumors, if Chicago and Cleveland put claims in he will go to Chicago.
  • BR1986FB
I heard that this morning on the drive in.
  • Mark Mack
When that article was written, they said that Chicago had the worst record of the 2.
  • BR1986FB
So my question is, if Chicago put in waiver claims on both Thome AND Kubel do they get them both?
