Mariners @ Indians series thread (the official one)

Masterson gave up 5, and now Seattle has 11 in the nightcap so far.

16 runs to the worst offense in the AL. Yep, we're done.

Huff pitched on Saturday. You want to throw him TWO days rest???
    Carmona yesterday
    Masterson today
    Jimenez Sunday

It would have to be Tomlin....then you are looking at every single starter pitching on 3 days rest for a start, as Tomlin wouldnt be able to go tomorrow so everyone is pushed up a day. That is a retarded idea.

well the McAllister plan worked out, now our bullpen will be depleted for the rest of the homestand. yes, i would throw Tomlin and tell them its fucking gut check time because they are professional baseball players in a pennant race. this isnt april, may, june, or july.

sadly...this isn't the old days. Now these guys arms would fall off if you threw them on short rest....sad, but true.

Don't even get me started on this.

    THIS! Plus 1.

Nice situational hitting the last 2 innings to try to battle back into this thing. Game should be 11-8 if we could manage to put the ball in play w/ a runner on 3rd and less than 2 outs.
  • Wooball
Of course it wouldn't have mattered when you are facing the '27 Yankees
  • wes_mantooth
eh...damn it Santana...could have made it interesting.
  • hoops23
I was thinking it was about to be 2001 all over again.
  • dazedconfused
ugh, santana and duncan refuse to not swing for the fences at any time and a golden opportunity goes by the boards
  • Wooball
    fuck these fucking guys
  • Wooball
How can Santana have such a good approach from one side of the plate, and the other side look like a total buffoon
  • royal_k
Go out and have a nice dinner and a few drinks and come home to this shit. WTF? And I see Detroit is up 2-1 in the 8th. Good job McAllister. Way to fuck up the most important start of your career.

The pen would be more depleted had we thrown 5 guys in a row on 3 days rest. With Jimenez arm issues, Id never pitch him on short rest. Terrible plan. Tomlin would be fine on short rest. Carmona would probably be a train wreck. Huff would be fine. Jimenez would be bad imo, and a huge injury risk. Masterson would be fine I think.

Im with you on not throwing a start away like this, normally. But at some point you just have to say "Shit, we really got fucked in the scheduling department." Which we did with 1 off day (to travel to Dallas) and like 3 DH to end the season. We were going to need the AAA guys to have solid spot starts and thus far 0/1. Nothing else could really have been done.
  • HitsRus
Defense was horrible again tonite. This is what happens when you have a lot of AAA players up from the minors. There was a reason those guys started in Columbus.
Also bouncing Fukudome around the outfield didn't help either. The guy misjudged running down a drive that Grady easily makes, simply because he doesn't know the park well.
Jason Donald butchers an easy DP ball that OCab would routinely make. There is just too much inexperience for this team to over come. Props to the guys for never quitting though.

Gawd, Druby looked lost at the plate tonite...WTF?
  • hoops23
Druby has looked lost for a while and his throwing the bat after every out makes him look like an ass.

At this point, I'm just going to enjoy this season for what it was....a team that outkicked their coverage, overachieved. There's still a lot of ball to be played but with the lack of sense of urgency shown by both the team & manager, I don't see these gentleman having the testicular fortitude to pull this off. Hopefully this season is a sign of things to come and they didn't royally f#ck themselves with the Ubaldo trade. GO BROWNS !!!
  • HitsRus
I agree with this ^^^^ except for the part about testicular fortitude. This team plays with heart...just didn't have the guns. The front office made the wrong move at the wrong time....but can't question their balls either, unless to say they didn't pull the trigger fast enough, and get help in early July when we had a lead.

This is a very good question. I almost wonder if he might be better off not switch-hitting.

I never thought you would be one that would accept mediocricy in a Professional sports team.

Lol....choo scratched from the lineup with a sore butt.
  • royal_k
With the line up they are throwing out there, they have no chance against Hernandez.
