Pryor in supplemental draft?
-
trep14This 5 game suspension stuff is stupid. Since when did the NFL turn into the defender of "amateurism" and honor NCAA penalties? I freaking hate Roger goodell.
-
SportsAndLadyPryor commits NCAA penalties in college, gets suspended for 5 NFL games.
Multiple Canes players commit NCAA penalities in college, nothing happens to them because the NFL is separate from the NCAA.
??
What am i missing here -
trep14Why didn't Reggie bush get punished by the NFL for what he did in college?
-
thavoiceMaybe it is possible in his first meetings with the NFL he had a different story to tell them, and when it looked like he would not get a rubber stamp he came up with the "truth"?
-
JerseyBuckBush and Carrol not suspended. Doubt the Miami guys will be suspended. Don't like the new rule that you'll be suspended in the NFL for what you did in college. If thats the case, Caleb King flunked out of college and was made eligible for the supplemental draft easy. Is selling trinkets for cash that worse?
-
thavoiceThe bush stuff is different than the TP stuff.
Bush isnt trying to get in the supp draft. I am thinking that TP lied to the NFL about stuff before coming clean. -

He was suspended for manipulating the NFL supplemental draft in order to get into it. -

He was suspended for manipulating the NFL supplemental draft in order to get into it.
This. -
ts1227But if they feel he manipulated it, why not just tell him to go fuck himself and come back for the 2012 draft?
-
karen lotzNo clue.
-
SportsAndLadyHow can someone manipulate a supplemental draft? lol that's so contradicting.
A supplemental draft is for players who, for whatever reason, did not declare for the NFL draft and something happened where they now want to be in the NFL. Why would Pryor get suspended for manipulating the draft? If he manipulated it, don't let him in! -
karen lotzHe manipulated the entry process not the draft itself. He wasn't technically ineligible from OSU or the NCAA until he hired an agent and stopped talking to the NCAA. Then didn't his lawyer ask for some sort of proof from OSU that he would have been ineligible for the entire season? Smith then wrote the letter saying he was ineligible and banned from campus for 5 years. Pryor made himself ineligible on his own, which is shady and manipulative of the process.

Because in the end he is eligible for the supp draft. If they ruled ineligible then hsi agent would sue,and probably win. What changed from the draft till now? 5 year ban, and he is admitting he took money and lied about it to the school and NCAA. So, yeah, that would make him ineligible to play so he should be eliglbe for the supp draft.
What the NFL is saying is that it is fishy as to why he is coming out with that stuff now. Is he lying he took money? He is only coming out and saying it because he hadnt been ruled eligible yet and he is doing whatever in his means to make sure he is eligible.
That is the fishy part......the supp draft isnt normally guys who get some suspension from their school, and then try to get more violations so he can get into the supp draft. There is a little different between what is going on and what has happened with other guys who have been in teh supp draft.
He admits to lying to the ncaa and school...so is he lying now that he took money? Its like he is trying to make himself eligible after the fact..doing whatever it takes to make himself look worse and warranted more suspensions from the school -
Hb31187Pryor made himself eligible on his own?
So if he hadnt hired an agent and like a month later OSU suspended him for 5 years anyways....it would of been okay? Its bullshit, and Goodell is just a **** on a power trip -

exactly.karen lotz;866475 wrote:He manipulated the entry process not the draft itself. He wasn't technically ineligible from OSU or the NCAA until he hired an agent and stopped talking to the NCAA. I think in the end it basically came down to some type of plea deal.
If the NFL denies him then they probably get sued, because on the face TP is eligible. The NFL knows he is manipulating the system, as does TP and his agent. So, in the end the NFL says OK, we will let ya in but you must serve a suspension, if you do not agree with that we will make you ineligible and you can take your chances with some sort of lawsuit.
NFL saves some face as they set an example that they wont allow punks and their agents to manipulate the supp draft, and TP gets to be in the draft. Both get a little bit of their way -

No, he made himself ineligible by hiring an agent. -
Hb31187
so if he waited a month didnt hire an agent and OSU suspended him anyways...hed of been eligible?karen lotz;866516 wrote:No, he made himself ineligible by hiring an agent. -

Yeah more than likely. If his status with OSU had changed and he wouldn't be able to play, he'd be eligible for the draft. -
LJkaren lotz;866516 wrote:No, he made himself ineligible by hiring an agent.
Yes and no. Basically what I hear from the guy on the team that I know (who is friends with Pryor) was that Pryor was going to be kicked off of the team and ruled ineligible by the school. Basically his ego wouldn't allow that, so he quit before that could happen (like the boss who tells you that you are fired when you try to quit a job). Then basically, Pryor made himself ineligible before the school could declare him ineligible, causing an issue. OSU then goes ahead with declaring him ineligible and a 5 year ban from the program. The problem is, in the end, he never circumvented anything besides actually being kicked off of the team. The Goodell knows this, but with the ban he is basically saying "well, I was right to begin with, but uh, we are gonna be nice and let him in". The NFL needs some type of board that has to vote on everything, Like a9 or 11 person board. Goodell has way too much power for his ego.
(but most of that was said in the 2 short posts above mine...DOH) -
thavoiceWonder if this will hurt his chances at all.
Has their been any mention of the team that gets him having a roster exemption until he is eligible to play?
Didnt Vick have something like that? The Eagles got a roster exemption to carry him for a bit of time. I am gonna see if I can find anything out.
I agree LJ...I think there needs to be some board to vote on this stuff. -
bases_loadedSo if you make yourself ineligible by hiring an agent = bad
Make yourself ineligible by not going to class = fine
Got it -
trep14Yeah I don't get where the NFL feels manipulated here. If the purpose of the supplemental draft is for players whose circumstances have changed since the draft deadline, pryor qualifies because his circumstances have changed. The reason isn't really that important, not sure why goodell is getting his panties in a bunch about it.
-
AutomatikI'm reading the ESPN article now. The NFL's reasoning's are a joke. Since when is the NFL allowed to punish based on what a player does in the NCAA?
Seriously fuck Roger Goodell. -
SportsAndLadyI'm a big Goodell supporter, but this is just bad on his part.
I saw today where he said "this isn't the precedent we will set for stuff like this; this is just a particular case with a rare ruling"
uhhh, okay? -
jordo212000It is pretty dumb, but it doesn't really matter anyways. There is no way in Hades he was playing this year. He isn't even close to being ready
