killer_ewokGilbert has a knee injury too. Hope the Steelers have Flozell Adams on speed dial......
-
killer_ewokSteelers force another turnover. Wow.
-
Hb31187Everytime Dwyer touches the ball they mention he lost 20lbs lol
-
GoPensSteeler kicker Shaun Suisham had an appendectomy this week--that's why he wasn't in there at all tonight.
-
THE4RINGZLoved the D tonight.
-
killer_ewokBoth Jonathan Scott and Marcus Gilbert have hyperextension knee injuries from last night and are expected to be fine. Isaac Redman will be fine as well.
-
AutomatikHow did Heyward look?
-
GoPensBTW, was Joe Buck drunk last night or just extremely disinterested in being there?

It's preseason. Anyone who has their spot (roster or broadcast) position set in stone is drunk and/or disinterested.
I only watched a bit of the game, but it seemed every time I flipped over to it or looked up when it was on, Cotchery was making a catch. I like that acquisition more every day. -
NonAll-around good showing.
Even for being preseason, you could tell Tomlin lit a fire after the first game and the players responded with more energy and hustle.
Donovan Warren was one of the players that stood out for me. I was at the game so I had a good view of the coverage all over the field and he was in great position all night. He covered outside and in the slot, he came up and made some tackles, combined with Harrison for a sack. I'm just wondering who would go if they keep him. -
NonRoster-tology
Anyone listed above the line at that specific position should be a lock.
QB
Ben Roethlisberger (1)
Bryon Leftwich (2)
-------------------------
Dennis Dixon
Charlie Batch
Dixon has looked great in preseason. I think they'll keep the younger guy because if they need Batch they could always just pick him back up.
RB
Rashard Mendenhall (3)
Isaac Redman (4)
Mewelde Moore (5)
Jonathan Dwyer (6)
-------------------------
John Clay
James Johnson
Dwyer locked it up last night. Best performance for him in his two years with the team. The running back position is set.
WR
Mike Wallace (7)
Hines Ward (8)
Antonio Brown (9)
Emmanuel Sanders (10)
Jerrico Cotchery (11)
-------------------------
Arnaz Battle
Tyler Grisham
Eric Greenwood
Wes Lyons
Terrence McCrae
Kenny Moore
Good bounce back performance for Battle. He had three catches for 47 yards after dropping three against Washington. Grisham will have to set the world on fire in the last two preseason games to beat out Battle.
TE
Heath Miller (12)
David Johnson (13)
-------------------------
John Gilmore
Weslye Saunders
Jamie McCoy
Miguel Chavis
Third tight end spot is still very much unclear. They might still look for help externally.
OL
Jonathan Scott (14)
Chris Kemoeatu (15)
Maurkice Pouncey (16)
Ramon Foster (17)
Willie Colon (18)
Doug Legursky (19)
Marcus Gilbert (20)
-------------------------
Chris Scott
Tony Hills
Keith Williams
Kyle Jolly
John Malecki
They could keep all three -- Scott, Hills and Williams -- but maybe only two.
DL
Aaron Smith (21)
Casey Hampton (22)
Brett Keisel (23)
Ziggy Hood (24)
Cameron Heyward (25)
Chris Hoke (26)
-------------------------
Steve McLendon
Corbin Bryant
Anthony Gray
This group is set.
LB
James Harrison (27)
Lawrence Timmons (28)
James Farrior (29)
LaMarr Woodley (30)
Larry Foote (31)
Stevenson Sylvester (32)
Jason Worilds (33)
Chris Carter (34)
-------------------------
Mortty Ivy
Mario Harvey
Baraka Atkins
Chris Ellis
This group is also set.
CB
Ike Taylor (35)
William Gay (36)
Curtis Brown (37)
Cortez Allen (38)
-------------------------
Bryant McFadden
Crezdon Butler
Keenan Lewis
Donovan Warren
Macho Harris
Kevin Dockery
Bryant McFadden might not be a lock. With so many young players he might be in trouble. From that group of McFadden, Butler, Lewis and Warren they'll probably keep three of the four.
S
Troy Polamalu (39)
Ryan Clark (40)
Ryan Mundy (41)
Will Allen (42)
-------------------------
Da'Mon Cromartie Smith
Brett Greenwood
LS
Greg Warren (43)
K
Shaun Suisham (44)
-------------------------
Swayze Waters
P
Daniel Sepulveda (45)
-------------------------
Jeremy Kapinos
remaining 8 spots:
Dixon (46)
Battle (47)
third TE - Gilmore or Saunders or Chavis (48)
two OL from Chris Scott, Tony Hills and Keith Williams (50)
three CBs from Bryant McFadden, Crezdon Butler, Keenan Lewis and Donovan Warren (53) -
killer_ewokNice breakdown, Non. Looks right to me.
-
Commander of Awesomelol I just found out who wins the Poster with the most time on their hands award.
-
killer_ewokJust because he posted a breakdown of what he thinks the final roster might look like?
That's a silly thing to assume. -

You are right the title shoudl remain with Lotz. -
AutomatikHow has Brown and Allen been in the secondary? I didn't watch any of the first game and only the first 2 possessions last night.
Does either have a chance to make a significant impact. Ike, Gay, and McFadden....you know they will get torched on a few occasions this year. I was surprised that no real moves were made in that department, but I guess we'll have to roll with it. -

Brown and Allen both missed the first preseason game because of injuries.
Allen didn't play last night either.
Brown played and looked ok. Obviously behind as a rookie. I think both of those players are locks to make it because they just drafted them and need more time to see what they can do.
I was just reading up on Warren a little bit. I remember for awhile he was projected to go in the 2nd/3rd round and then ended up slipping and didn't get drafted at all. He was with the Jets last summer but had a concussion and missed a lot of time. This is his first real opportunity. -

Warren was a beast while @ Michigan. He could def help the Steelers out where theyre thin, at CBNon;867652 wrote:Brown and Allen both missed the first preseason game because of injuries.

NonOne thing about this preseason is it's been difficult for players to show themselves on special teams because they haven't had opportunities for kickoff coverage.
Arnaz Battle is one of the Steelers top guys in that area so for a player like Tyler Grisham to make the team over Battle as a sixth receiver he'd have to shine in kick coverage.
Warren is another player who would have to be good in that area as the last defensive back, similar to the role Anthony Madison played the past few years. -
GoPensMRI shows no ligament damage to either Scott or Gilbert. Good news regarding an offensive linemen injury for a change.
-
killer_ewok-Lawrence Timmons has a new 6-year $50 million dollar deal.
-Trai Essex is a Steeler again. Definitely needed him back for depth.
-Very doubtful that Troy or Mike Wallace get a new deal as the Steelers don't negotiate once the season starts and it appears they're done with all of the contracts and restructuring, etc at this point. The good news is they can franchise Troy and get away with not paying him a crazy amount of money for one year as Safety's don't get paid a ton. Wallace is a RFA so they're good there too as both of those guys are basically protected.
For all of the talk about the Steelers' age....they're locking up young studs for the foreseeable future. Very nice.
