I wish I could go through life being so damned ignorant. They say ignorance is bliss right? I lived 20 years in a city with a big Jewish population. Some of the biggest spenders I've ever seen. The stereotype stays alive because people want a reason to hate on them. If I had anything to say about them it would be that they would do anything to find a deal, even if that deal means spending 100 grand. As long as its original price was 125k.

This is pretty tough, I think I will have to go all the way back to......... 2010.
The San Francisco Giants were the less talented team not only in the World Series, but the NLCS

lhslep. Are you serious with the baseball better team in playoffs stuff? Cardinals, Marlins (X2), Indians and Rockies in 07, Tigers in 2006, Giants LAST YEAR! It happens all the time where the Wild Card makes a run, or the team who isnt favored wins. A great team in baseball will lose 4 of 10 games. Underdog team in the playoffs will lose 5 of 10 games. That is a 1 game difference.

As far as streaky goes. He was saying, quite clearly, that in the playoffs anything can happen, especially if Santana is on a hot streak and not a cold one.

Agreed. I hope we make a trade even if it means giving up a decent prospect because I'm tired of the "our future is soon" I want our future to be NOW

Ha I think he is upset because he is from Liberty, where there is a high population of them. Anyhow, I can't watch many more games with Kearns playing. We NEED someon to play the outfield with Brantley and Buck (or whoever else we can throw out there). Hell, I'd rather see Duncan out there than Kearns.

Also, I just read what you posted while I was posting. "At the very least good pitching wins"...we have better pitching that the Yankees (easily) the Red Sox are (closer). Rangers probably have us, at least in the starter department.

No the reason the sterotype persists is because theres some truth to it.

Exactly and if we could get kuroda it makes our starting pitching that much better. Also don't be surprised if were still in it by September to see drew Pomeranz being called up

QQ get over it. Stereotypes are created and exist because there is some truth to it. People think I am an automatic hot head, because I am part italian. You don't see me crying about that. If the worse thing someone can say about you is "you are rich and stingy," then you probably shouldn't be bitching.

Not from my experiences. Maybe yours are different. And def. not in sports...

Cheapest owners in sports according to different websites:

    Jeffrey Loria
    John York
    Bill Bidwill
    Paul Brown

    Top Spending Owners:
    Mark Cuban
    Dan Gilbert
    Arthur Blank
    Dan Synder
    Roman Abramovich
Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan

What do you think all the cheapest owners in sports have in common, and what do you think all the top spending owners have in common besides one?

And p.s. Like_that. I am rich and stingy but not Jewish. I just don't group people into sterotypes... Especially ones I have witnessed to not be true. If I did that I would think everyone on ohiochatter was as dumb as you, commander, and crimson, however, I know that is not true.

I also LOL at crimson. The more I read what he says, the more I am glad I didn't grow up to be a #@#@

Yeah I agree the owner of the company I work for is Jewish and he is the biggest cheap ass ever. Didn't even pay us for Easter even though they told us not to work that day. Bastard.

    Can't disagree with that.

    Wooball, pitching, pitching, pitching.

Superior pitching will make up for almost anything. The Giants had better pitching in the World Series against a star-studded Texas lineup than Texas did pitching against SF.

1995 Indians. More talented than Braves? Probably. Better? No, because pitching beats hitting.

Yeah I would be done with it if I just self pwned myself like that and made myself to look like an asshat with such an easy arguement to destroy. Might as well say that since Steinbrenner blows the most money that all sports owner from ohio spend the most money. lolfail.

I am dumb because I have have fun with stereotypes and not get bent out of shape when people call my stereotypes out? LOL you must hate all comedians then. It's only a problem because people like you make it a problem. You must have been in tears when you watched the Chapelle Show.

No I love the chappelle show. I'm not really bent out of shape, just think you guys are ignorant. But, this is still arguing so I'm going to quit. If you want to continue this on PM feel free. However, its not really worth it. You guys think streotypes are legit, I dont , especially ones I have seen to be wrong through experience.

    according to espn insider:

UPDATE: In addition to the problems with his knee, Sizemore had sports hernia surgery and will be out four to six weeks, the Indians announced Thursday. Even before the latest injury news to Sizemore, the Plain Dealer reports the Tribe has been pursuing an outfield bat such as Ryan Ludwick, Jeff Francoeur, Josh Willingham or Coco Crisp.

    --

Grady Sizemore's latest trip to the disabled list will not accelerate the Cleveland Indians' pursuit of a deal to improve their offense, reports Paul Hoynes of the Plain Dealer.

GM Chris Antonetti has been looking for a right-handed hitting outfielder and a starting pitcher, and those needs haven't changed. "We continue to explore ways to improve the team," Antonetti tells Hoynes. "We're exploring all means possible."

Don't look for the Tribe to mortgage the future on any deal. Hoynes said there is no way an up-and-coming player such as Jason Kipnis and Lonnie Chisenhall will be traded for a free-agent rental.

Sizemore was sent back to Cleveland to have tests done on his knee before making any estimates about how much time he will miss. Manager Manny Acta said Ezequiel Carrera will see the majority of playing time in center field in place of Sizemore.

also (newest updates are at top):

UPDATE: Beltran has told friends that he prefers to stay in the National League, reports David Lennon of Newsday.

Lennon adds that a key factor could be Beltran's aversion to being a DH, but that would not necessarily kill a deal to an American League club.

    --

UPDATE: Our Buster Olney tweets Thursday that even the Brewers have interest in Beltran, though it's unclear if they would be able to put together a package of talent the Mets would find attractive ater trading away most of thert top talents in other deals the past few seasons. Perhaps a third team could get involved?

The Rangers have interest, too, tweets Ken Rosenthal, but they have their sights set on pitching first and foremost.

    ...

UPDATE: The Mets would not be opposed to deal Beltran within the NL East to Philadelphia or Atlanta if those teams offered the most in return, reports Peter Botte in Thursday's NY Daily News.

    --

UPDATE: The Red Sox have made their interest in Beltran known to the Mets, but so far are unwilling to part with the type of top-tier prospects New York GM Sandy Alderson is seeking in return, reports Gordon Edes of ESPNBoston.com

    --

UPDATE: Ken Rosenthal reported Tuesday that the Red Sox and Phillies are the most aggressive clubs in trade talks for Beltran.

    ...

UPDATE: With Beltran's salary a possible issue for potential trade suitors, ESPN The Magazine's Buster Olney wrote earlier this week that the Mets are willing to pick up the money in order to get a better return. Adam Rubin of ESPNNewYork.com adds Tuesday that the Mets are willing to cover Beltran's remaining salary because they are demanding top-notch young talent in return.

    --

If the New York Mets were willing to unload Francisco Rodriguez a few weeks before the July 31 deadline, could a deal for Carlos Beltran be on the way?

Not necessarily, according to GM Sandy Alderson, who insisted Wednesday the deal for K-Rod is not the start of a fire sale. Alderson, of course, could be telling suitors that Beltran will not come cheaply.

The speculation regarding Beltran will only escalate and the outfielder has fanned the flames with his candid comments about trade partners. The outfielder, for example, said it would be a no-brainer to OK a deal to the Red Sox should he be asked to do so.

Beltran is drawing "real interest" from as many as seven clubs, tweets Olney. Olney added later Wednesday that the Yankees are not one of those clubs. Olney says a wild card in the Beltran Sweepstakes could be the Detroit Tigers, who have a lot at stake with manager Jim Leyland in the final year of his contract.

The Giants remain a primary target and Kevin Kernan of the New York Post says that Beltran may soon be headed to San Francisco.

So you like Chapelle, yet you don't like when "regular" people have fun at the expense of certain stereotypes? See the hypocrisy in there? Do you cry when people on this site say that women should be in the kitchen making sammiches? If you are going to have a stick up your ass for shit like that, it tells me all I need to know. Call me ignorant all you want, but I make stereotypical jokes like that all the time to jewish people, black people, etc. And you know what they do, they laugh and dish it back out to me. That is life. Let me know when you get that stick out of your ass though.

Also lol at "im done arguing." Translation: I am going to be the bigger man, but I will definitely get the last word in.

No, you can win. It is hypocritical indeed, I just don't like when people do things behind a screen name. I'm much more ok with things if people do it to someones face. No translation needed. I dont think im a bigger man and I also dont think I have a stick in my ass ;). Carry on.
