God I hate the NBA draft...
Its the only draft i can bear to watch.

NFL draft takes years and years to make 1 pick, the MLB draft has like 90 rounds and isnte ven televised. And I dont think the NHL one is on ESPN either?

Lighty goes undrafted but Diebs is selected..... crazy!
  • Hb31187

Pretty sure NFL gets 5x the ratings, so you would be in the minority. NBA draft is garbage. Hell, the paid analysts had no clue who the guys drafter 50+ were. Might as well shrink it to one round only.

Thats because the NFL* is more popular. Hearing Gruden, Kiper and Berman(painful to listen to) for hours on end and for 15 minutes between picks is just horrendous. But to each their own

I like the NBA draft for its inter-nationality. I love all the stories involved. I love the crying mothers. I love the suits. I love watching Stuart Scott try to pronounce some African's name, sighing, looking up at the camera, and giving up. I love Jon Barry speaking with authority as if he actually watches any international basketball. I love moments like Jan Vesley saying, "I like the John Wall game." I also don't have to take a shower like I do when I watch that sleeze-ball Mel Kiper on TV for over 3 hours. I love watching David Stern get booed because it clearly bothers him so much.

The other day I watched the 1986 NBA draft. I wasn't even born yet.

So yea, I guess I'm in the minority when I say: it's better than the NFL draft.

I like the NBA draft better than the NFL draft now since Goodell butchered the entire damn thing.

100% agreed. Great post. Add me to the list who say the NBA draft is better than the NFL draft.

Dont know if you gave your opinion yet but what did you think of the deal that landed the Nuggs Hamilton and Andre Miller? I liked it for all 3 teams.

Got in a big debate this morning About Derrick Williams VS Beasley comiong out as a Pro prospect. I thought Beasley was a better pro prospect and didn't think it was close. His stats were insane, he rebounded at significantly higher rate, was bigger, more athletic, shot a higher FT%, and had more blocks per game. What are some of your thoughts? IMO, he's letting Beasley's pro career cloud his judgement and listening to The Really Big Show slobber all over Williams taint his judgement.

Better pro prospect coming out of college; Williams or Beasley?

Beasley, lol at that person you debated with.

Beasley was considered one of the best prospects since D Howard in the 04 draft. And he was comparable to Lebron coming out of hs, in terms of hype. That debate isn't even close, Beasley over D Williams.

Hell, most people in the country didn't even know about D Williams' beastliness until the NCAA Tournament.

I went to the KU and Zona game in Vegas early in the season, and saw how awesome he could be (he didn't have a great game against KU..but the potential was there), so I kept a close eye on him all season long.

When it was just being discussed about Felton for Miller I really wanted no part of it. But now that we got Miller AND Hamilton I actually do like the trade. We had to get rid of Felton before it became a problem for him that he wasnt starting

Beasley, but I dont think its as clear cut as you guys do. Williams has a better shot and plays above the rim more often, which always translates well to the NBA.

That said, it is still Beasley.

best part is at the end, when Chris say...quite degrading I might add..."good luck" before the break.

Or "we're not going to talk about me and Darko in the same sentence".

Beasley, and it makes no sense that the TWolves drafted Williams who is essentially the same player as Beasley unless they plan on moving Beas.

I know Beasley played SOME 3, perhaps they think Williams can play some 3 as well?

Beasley played primarily the 3 last year but you can't move Kevin Love to the 5. So essentially you Darko at the 5, Kevin Love at the 4, Beasley at the 3 and where do you find minutes for Williams, doesn't make sense unless they are going to make another move.

If I was Kaaaaahn I would have picked Williams and shopped him. I would have paired him with Flynn and other pieces and would have tried to get back a vet who could offer leadership and talent.

You guys are right, he is very similar to Beasley and their front court is already crowded. Williams might be a good player, and probably will be, but he's an unknown. I would have sold high and took advantage of the league-wide bonerfest going on.

WTF are you talking about? He dropped 27 and 8 on 9/15 shooting and 2/3 from beyond the arc.

What the hell do you consider a great game?

You could move Love to the 5, its not like the NBA is full of stud centers. And hes 6'10 so he could hold his own

Agreed. The fact JJ Hickson held his own when getting playing time at center shows you the lack of star power at the position.

Put it this way, Roy Hibbert is arguably a top 5 center in the league.

Now, he has potential, and had some great games. But come on, he shouldnt be close. Soft as hell, isnt athletic, slow, and not a whole lot of offense. All he has is blocks, and the ability to pass extremely well from the post.

    Let's see.

    Howard

    Bargnani
    Brook Lopez
    Al Jefferson
Al Horford (yes, he's a center)

I think you have to put Hibbert in that next tier with Bogut, Bynum, Demarcus (14 and 8, solid for a rook), Noah, and now Marc Gasol.
