Indians vs Royals Series Thread

    THAT IS UNACCEPTABLE!
  • Laley23
All in all, a good night. Guys battled and have to take some confidence in the "never out of it" mindset.
  • JerseyBuck
He could have at least attempted to take the bat off his shoulder, unacceptable.

I give it to the Tribe though, they battled back. Last year they would have laid down.

It's this kind of witty repartee that keeps people coming back to this vaunted site.

Yes they did make it interesting at the end of the game....but we can't wait until the 7th inning to score some runs.
  • wes_mantooth
It is only one game..and they played super shitty and still had a chance to win...But I can not stand to see a guy take 3 fastballs down the middle and not take the bat off his shoulder. That is a major pet peeve of mine.
  • hoops23
    Yep^

Santana looked and played like a rookie today.

The silver lining in this, for me at least, was me being interested in seeing how the Tribe responded when they got down by a few runs.

I was pleased with what I saw. This is the same fight that the 2007 club had. The bullpen came in and shut down KC and allowed the offense to get back in it..

This is the first time the Tribe has given up 5 runs since the Chicago series, which is ridiculous.. It was one game, you're not going to win them all.. The best team in baseball will most likely lose 60+ games

a fucking bunt in that situation would have been better than watching three straight down the middle fastballs go whizzing by. geez, at least take the bat off your shoulders, santana.

other than santana looking like a big girl, i liked the fight tonight in the fellas. sure gomez had nothing (and the defense didn't help) and we got down 5-0 but i like that we loaded the bases in the ninth with a chance to take the lead

Can't win em' all. Bounce back today and get a new streak started. GO TRIBE !!!
  • OneBuckeye
If they would have won that game it would have been a steal. We just need to win the series. I think every other AL central team lost last night except for the Royals.

That shit right there is "Jim Thome 101." He hit a lot of dingers but he was famous for watching called 3rd strikes in key/game ending situations.

I like tonight's matchup. Masterson has been lights out and we get Grady and Pronk back in the lineup.

I think Carlos was a little intimidated in that atbat in the 9th. He didn't look ready or comfortable on all 3 pitches. I would bet on him doing better the next time this situation comes up.

Nice comeback....they proved they can come from behind, just fell a little short.

And Alex Gordon is a helluva player.

I think its time to move Santana down in the line up. Kid hasn't played a full season and needs to get it figured out.
  • OQB
So you would want something like this:

    1. Brantley
    2. A. Cabrera
    3. Sizemore
    4. Hafner
    5. Choo
    6. O. Cabrera
    7. LaPorta
    8. Santana
    9. Hanahan
  • royal_k
With Sizemore in the line up, Brantley won't be leading off and Choo will stay in the 3 hole.

Leave the line up alone....he will be fine. He's too good of a hitter to continue on like this.
  • OQB
You have to be proactive though.....you can't just sit back and wait til we go on a losing streak to start changing things up. If a guy is struggling change the order.

This is the lineup I want: Sizemore is doing great this year so far....but I just think Brantley has given us a better leadoff than Sizemore will. let Sizemore use his power in the 3 hole. Heck you could switch Druby and Grady and it would still be a good lineup.

    1. Brantley
    2. A. Cabrera
    3. Sizemore
    4. Hafner
    5. Choo
    6. O. Cabrera
    7. LaPorta
    8. Santana
    9. Hanahan

I know nobody agrees with me, but I think we need to be proactive and take care of the little problems to keep winning games.

Sometimes when you start moving guys around in the line up, you do more harm than good. If you move him down to bottom of the order, you may take away his confidence. Manny wants him to know he believes in him. Right now he's just trying to do too much. He'll figure it out.

Too many lefties in a row. That is only reason that will never happen. Not that I agree witht the reasoning.

Choo had 2 very good ABs to end last night. Laying off some tough pitches in the 9th to draw the bases loaded walk and the single up the middle in the 8th. I hope he can build on that.

Santana, he isnt a proven hitter at this level, so moving him down doesnt sit wrong with me the way it does with Choo. Maybe switch he and Hafner. Just getting out of the clean-up spot may do the trick. If not, move him lower again. But that is a separate case from Choo.
  • OQB
haha I think we can all agree on one thing........we don't care as long as we keep winning! :D

Is it 8 o'clock yet??? Go Tribe

Bruce Drennan just said Santana needs to be moved down out of that 4 hole. Suggests putting Hafner or Duncan there.

Duncan? Who was he sitting down for Duncan to even play? All he has been is a PH.
  • OQB
he didn't say.....just said the way Duncan has been hitting and how tough of an out he is, could be a good fit.

I say you put Hafner there and move Santana down to 7 or 8
  • hoops23
Terry Francona moving Carl Crawford around in the line-up sure helped him... Oh wait..
