Indians vs. Red Sox Series Thread

  • grodt
I'm not sure there's a need for a new thread for each game so let's just keep it all here.

April 5th: Josh Tomlin vs. Josh Beckett
April 6th: Mitch Talbot vs. Daisuke Matsuzaka
April 7th: Fausto Carmona vs. Jon Lester

Red Sox surprisingly opened the season by dropping three straight to the hot-hitting Rangers. New addition Carl Crawford struggled against the Rangers going just 2-11 with 5 Ks. He got bumped down to the 7th spot in the lineup for their 3rd game but I haven't heard whether or not he'll stay there against the Tribe.

Carlos Santana looks to stay hot and Fausto Carmona will look to put that Opening Day disaster behind him. Should be a fun series.

I hope Fausto can bounce back, but my dreams of him returning to 2007 form have diminished. I think I hate Baeckett and his idiot necklace/soulpatch more than anyone in baseball. I want the tribe to pwn him.

Id expect the Tribe to steal 1. I dont see a win on paper anywhere, but I think they get one anyway. If I had to guess, Id say we score some versus Dice-K and Talbot slows down Boston enough.

I actually like tonite's matchup the best. Beckett has owned us in the past. But he's not the same pitcher he was then. Tomlin just has to keep us in the game.
  • grodt
I just saw that Crawford is back in the 2 hole.

I like the match-up against Dice-K the best, but I think Tomlin gives us a pretty good chance tonight if we can get to Beckett.

Sox better get their s*%@ together. Sweep in the first series? Panic. Button. (Whether or not that's rational has yet to be seen...)

Here's a fun fact for tonights game: No team in the history of baseball has won a World Series after starting the season 0-4.

That means I watch the Tribe lose again, or watch my 50 dollar 11/2 bet on the Sox go down the drain after just 1 week. FML

Look at the bright side....The Tribe won't start 0-4 :)

touche. My dad put 50 on them at 200/1 and I didnt cause Im poor. So that would blow

But it would be so amazing, I wouldnt give a shit.
  • royal_k
That would be a nice payout.

Just watched the highlights of Beckett drilling 2 Tribe hitters last season. Had forgot all about it. I wonder if anything will happen tonite.
  • KR1245
    Carlos just missed that one

    Nice throw Choo
  • Laley23
LOL at teams still thinking they can run on Choo. Drew nailed at the plate, but Boston with the 1-0 lead.
  • royal_k
Tomlin can't walk guys. That 2 out walk came back to haunt him.
  • royal_k
Looks like my vbet of 16,000-19,000 is a loser...
  • royal_k
lol...was that Hits in the bleachers chugging a beer?
  • grodt
Lot going on in Cleveland tonight between the Tribe, Cavs and Charlie Sheen. Of course that doesn't mean there would be a big crowd although usually the Red Sox bring a bunch of fans.

Tomlin has looked good except for those two batters he walked. He can't afford to get behind in the count to hitters like that. Great throw by Choo, not sure why Drew would test it.

Ive been in Utah for a wedding, and first look at the tribe tonight. Other than Santana (who I have seen the highlights of on ESPN) how have the guys looked, individually??
  • royal_k
Hanahan has been very good defensively.
Brantley has hit the ball well
Hafner looks more like himself than he has in a long time.
    Choo has struggled
    Druby has started slow.

Thanks. Is Pronk driving it or showing any kind of power? I see he has the average, but how are his actual hits looking?
  • Commander of Awesome
His HR blast the other night looked legit enough.
  • grodt
Also the bullpen, minus Germano, has looked really good. Perez, Sipp, Raffy Perez, Pestano and Herrmann have all been solid.

He's actually driving the ball and his swing looks much better. His HR was a no-doubter into the bullpen. It was a definate "Pronk" HR.
