Cavs trade Mo Williams for Baron Davis
-
Azubuike24It's a good move for the Cavaliers but with the looming lockout and draft class coming out, I would NOT expect this year's draft class to be that strong. Relatively speaking, it really isn't projected to be that strong anyway. The 2012 NBA Draft is going to be big time though, especially if some of the quality prospects stay in school another year (like some expect).
-
Azubuike24With that said, this is a great deal for Cleveland. I suspect it was made by the Clippers because they really have the need to add yet another first rounder and figured it was expendable. Or, they are making a prediction on the lockout.

You don't need to be a great evaluator of talent to see how weak this draft class is.
That said, this is a good move simply because the Cavs couldn't get any worse, so anybody they could dump to facilitate the starting over process is a plus.
I fucking hate Baron Davis though. Hoping for Kyrie Irving in the draft now. Do not want Kemba Walker or Brandon Knight, and we're gonna need a PG. -
like_thatBaron is going to play extra hard next year to get out of Cleveland, then the Cavs can have another steal of a trade.
-
SportsAndLadyQuestion, I haven't really been paying attention to BD, but is he hurt right now?
-
EnforcerHe didnt play in last nights game, ESPN said it was a knee ,But they coulda held him out due to the trade
-
SportsAndLadyAlright..I got tix to tomorrow's game so I was wondering if I'll get to see him play or not.

People were saying the same thing about the 09 draft and there ended up being some pretty solid players in that draft. -
SportsAndLadyAnyone going to the game tomorrow? I'll be there in most likely a suit because I'm doing some professional work before the game with the Cavs; hopefully I'll get to change before the game but we'll see. If anyones going let me know

grodtSince the FO has repeatedly said that they are planning on rebuilding through the draft you have to love them getting another lottery pick this year. Even if it's supposed to be a weaker draft there will still be a few good players in there. It just means they won't have a wide margin of error.
Baron will probably be a cesspool of suck and I just hope he doesn't hamper Ramon's development. Or Manny Harris's for that matter. -

Exactly my thoughts. This trade was a no brainer for both teams and regardless of if it's a weak draft or not, the Cavs need draft picks.grodt;690003 wrote:Since the FO has repeatedly said that they are planning on rebuilding through the draft you have to love them getting another lottery pick this year. If Cleveland trades for Baron Davis, it will be like Bizarro Big Loser: he will put on 10 lbs per week.

Good trade for the Clips. Now they have enough 2012 cap room cleared for a marquee free agent who will never sign here.

I think the main reason people are saying that this year is a bad draft is that there is no surefire first overall talent like there has been in years past with Wall, Griffin, and Rose. I still think there is plenty of talent to be had in this draft. -

agree there isnt "that guy" -
thedynasty1998Saying a draft class is bad is being lazy? How does that work. Obviously classes are going to be rated as a whole yearly and they are not all equal. Does that mean there are not any good players? Of course not.
It's like saying that the Lakers have more overall talent than Oklahoma City. That doesn't mean Oklahoma City doesn't have any good players. -
KR1245We dont know how good or bad this draft class is going to be just yet. There were plenty of people that were critical of the 09 draft class. I HIGHLY doubt that every player in this years class will be a bust.

jordo212000Great move by the Cavs, boneheaded move by the Clippers. How hard do you think Grant laughed at them when they said "hey, we'll swap overpriced, overrated PGs who are always hurt, you throw in Jamario Moon, and then we'll toss back our lottery pick"
I think it is now apparent why the Clippers are always bad. Who cares if the draft isn't as strong as it typically is? There are still good players, and who knows? You might get lucky -

I would loved to have heard their conversation. Any time you can get a lottery pick for Jamario Moon, essentially, you do it. -
hoops23This draft has a few sure fire players IMO. Having two top ten picks is never a bad thing.

Trueblue23I don't care too much for Mo Williams. The second LeBron announced he was leaving, Mo's nuts disappeared. You thought about retiring? Really? Come on man. He should of viewed that as an opportunity, cause we all know Mo was a shoot 1st guard.

Sorry trueblue, but you're deadwrong here and really have no idea what you are talking about. -
Azubuike24It's said to be weak because compared to 2010 and what looms in 2012, it IS weak. Anymore, with one and dones, the draft classes tend to loosely coincide with the strength of the recruiting classes. The 2009 class (the 2010 NBA class) was strong, while the 2010 class (the 2011 NBA class) is weaker than 2009 and 2011 (the 2012 NBA class). Now, depending who goes and stays can change that a little, but I'd say if even a few guys stay back this year, 2012 sets up to be a dynamite draft.

HereticThings do work out great for the Cavs. They get a lottery pick for Mo and Moon (two guys who wouldn't be in any future plans) AND obtaining fat, lazy Baron Davis will just help ensure they finish with the most balls in the lottery to potentially maximize their pick.
-
like_thatCavs will most likely have a lottery pick for 2012 as well, and maybe even 2 if they work out trades like this, or if lebron and wade tear their acls .
