Cavs at Heat 7:30pm

  • dave
Cavs have won 9 of their last 12 vs the Heat. Heat have also only won 3 of their last 8. Everything points to a Cavs win on the road, but you never know in the National Basketball Association. Any predictions on this one?

    Is this a joke?

I'll go with Cleveland loses their 31st out of the last 32 games.

ESPN's AccuScore says Cleveland won 4% out of 10,000 simulations. I know that's only a simulation, but it's still pretty sad.

    This streak is nuts...

I just have a feeling the streak breaker will come against one of the better teams in the League(LA, Boston, Miami, etc). I don't think it will be tonight though.

    Cavs win by 25 in 3 OT's.
  • jordo212000
Cavs can still win 45 + games, right? I mean that's what I was told before the season started.
  • september63
I predicted Cavs would win 27 this year. Dont see that happening now.

You definitely don't try to get a reaction out of Cleveland fans right? /sarcasm

Can't wait to see Jordo try to deny this. Keep trollin' jordo.

Lol...we need a link from a sportswriter in Florida to illustrate the Cavs suck?

    Thanks Capt. Obvious

In in the 3rd OT is when Ben Watson (GOAT) comes to the game to watch. The Cavs will be inspired and Hollins will go nuts with 9 3pters..

The way they're playing right now, their season's turned into this surreal nightmarish "uh...they've gone from 7-9 to 8-39...could they wind up 8-74 and break the record for worst season ever?" Conventional reason says that's impossible, but conventional reason says that a 1-30 slump that includes a current 20-game losing streak isn't likely.

I really cannot see the Cavs winning this game unless Miami's Big 3 foul out... The Cavs could not stop LeBron at all the last time the 2 teams faced and I don't see anything changing this game...Unless Mo and Boobie hit all of their 3's.

So, is this all because LeBron left...or did they lose other key pieces that led them to the #1 record in the NBA/East(?) for two consecutive years? Serious question because I'd like to know if Cavs fans feel they truly had the pieces all along or if LeBron made that much of a difference, which might actually legitimize his belief that Cleveland didn't and never would get him the proper support. (Forget "how" he left for a moment.)

I'd say its a combination of LeBron leaving, injuries, and just flat out terrible play.

Are they the worst of all time? Not sure. New Jersey was being talked about as the worst of all time, and they might be better than the Cavs.

If the Cavs keep relying on Samuels and Harris to be their leading scorers, they may go down as that.

But I just keep waiting to see a score where they get out of the slump and rebound to win a few games. But it just hasn't happened.

i never had a problem with lebron leaving. he was free to go with his contract being up and who wouldn't team up with wade and bosh if they had the choice? obviously, lebron never really helped our cause by being more concerned with the allure of his free agency instead of being committed to the team. so that left us with a mix and match of role players who could only be acquired with expiring contracts (shaq, mo, jamison) because with lebron's decision up in the air no player of value would sign in cleveland. couldn't ever get that second banana under those circumstances.

last season i thought we were in great position to match up with orlando and los angeles but never really considered the problem boston would pose because they looked like they were all collectively about to die during the season - certainly didn't see that run coming from boston (but even their own fans didn't see that coming) and in the end we were no match for them.

now the problem this season is combination of multiple factors. first and obviously most important, the team was built around lebron and he's no longer here. second, injuries have decimated us for most of the season. varejao, williams, gibson, parker and jamison have all missed significant time and we pretty much needed all of them healthy for the entire season to reach preseason win totals that jordo alluded to (i thought between 30-35 was going to be our high water mark). third, the injuries have forced manny harris, alonzo gee, samardo samuels and christian eyenga into heavy minutes. harris is the only one of those four that haven't spent time in the d-league. playing d-leaguers against established stars is formula for 20 straight losses and losses in 31 out of the last 32 games.

in the end, the cavs needed a season like this (and probably a couple more to go with it) to rebuild through the draft because free agency is pretty much out of the question with cleveland being such an undesireable destination.

So, free agency is out of the question, and it will only take a few years like this to rebuild? It will take longer than that.

NBA teams can be rebuilt in a couple of years. The Cavs have had 3 good runs in their history (70's, late 80s-early 90s, last few years), and they all started a few years after obtaining the #1 pick in the draft.

Depends on how well the Cavs draft.

I think by free agency being out of the question, he meant big time free agents...the Carmelos, the Lebrons, the Amare's are all out of the question. However, free agents that don't hold such a high profile but are vital to playoff teams surely is not out of the question.
