Pat Shurmur to Cleveland?
-
HeathAlum21According to ESPN, Pat Shurmur, the OC of the Rams, is the leading candidate for the Browns.

killer_ewokJust saw that on the bottom line. Interesting.
-
OQBShurmur's offense 2010: Ranked 26th in the NFL
4846 total yards 302.9 yds/game 3268 passing yds 204.3 yds/game 1578 rushing yds 98.6 yards/game 289 total points 18.1 points/game
Cleveland's offense 2010: Ranked 29th in the NFL
4635 total yards 289.7 yds/game 2989 passing yds 186.8 yds/game 1646 rushing yds 102.9 yds/game 271 total points 16.9 points/game
Doesn't seem like a big upgrade on the offensive side of the ball...although he didn't have that many playmakers on that offense. -
gerb131Not exactly an earth shattering move.
-
OQBYes!! Now we can go 7-9 and really feel good about ourselves!

ytownfootballShurmer you notice a stink, Mornihnweg you noticed the stink and tried to scrape it off your foot.
-
daveWhat do they see in this guy? He had a better qb than McCoy and a stud RB, they were in the worst division ever, and they still weren't very good.
-
OQBI'm just tired of everyone saying this guy has worked well with young QB's......He worked with Sam Bradford for ONE year!
-
jordo212000I don't know. Not saying he will be the next Lombardi or anything but you have to respect the job he did at St. Louis. Seemed like he groomed Bradford well and the WRs he had were all garbage
-
KR1245I would love a guy like Gruden but it doesnt sound like he is coaching right now. Shurmur could be a solid fit if he gets some solid coordinators.
Shurmur
Ryan or Jauron as DC (John Fox dark horse)
McDaniels as the OC
not bad -
OQBMaybe this is just an "intern" thing.....Let me explain.
Shurmur comes in to coach the Browns for the upcoming season and controls the offensive side of the football, Rob Ryan stays on as the defensive Coordinator, and Gruden stays on for his last year for MNF.
2012 offseason: Gruden's contract expires with ESPN, his son graduates high school, and then comes to be the head coach of the Browns
Pat Shurmur is moved to be the Offensive Coordinator, and Rob Ryan is D-Coordinator.....
Instead of having Holmgren come down for 1 year until Gruden is ready to coach again, Bring in an Offensive coordinator to be the intern head coach for that 1 year....what do you think? -

I think you need to put your beer down. -
Nonprobably has more to do with Holmgren's history with uncle Fritz and believing he can work well with this guy
-
OQBhaha, it taste too good though..... If Gruden says he will come to the Browns next offseason, I could really see this happening.
-
wildcats20Is it even 100% that Ryan will be back? I thought I had heard something where he may be gone too?

dude, gruden doesn't want to coach the browns...get over that stupid ass fairy tale -
ytownfootballConspiracy theories to cover up a lousy choice...might be onto something. SMH
-
OQBlol I'm just trying to think positive....who knows what will happen.

Their was a rumor about him going back to the Raiders....tough decision. Raiders defense....Browns defense.... haha -

I dont think Gruden wants to coach anyone right now. Its bad timing with Gruden, I really think he enjoys his job at ESPN as well as watching his son play ball. If we kept Mangini for next year I think we could go after Gruden the following year. It makes sense, especially with his ties to Holgrem -
OQBI know, I was watching All Bets Are Off with Bruce Drennan today, and he was reading articles from the St. Louis area about the Rams offense.....If you didn't know who he was reading about you would've thought it was Daboll...
