Cleveland Browns 2011 Super Awesome In-Season Thread

Just go RGIII with the 1st pick and try and get Burfict with the 2nd 1st rd pick. Then in the 2nd rd you can either go OL or back to LB/DE. Unless there's a WR you can get at good value in the 2nd rd.
• Crimson streak
This is a pretty deep draft for receivers. I think there are only two elite receivers though in Blackmon and Floyd

Burfict is projected in the 2nd rd now.

Depends on which mock you read, I have a hard time believing he falls to the second round.

Thanks but no thanks on another 2nd round wide receiver considering how well they have traditionally panned out in Cleveland so far since 99.

Exactly...not that Braylon was a very good pick but you get elite receivers in the 1st round.

If we go back to the draft where we took Robo and Massaquoi, Heckert wouldnt have drafted those guys, so I believe if we're sitting in the 2nd round with a guy who has great potential to be a starter and a good player, he's going to take him.
• Mulva
If we draft a guy like Sanu in the 2nd round I am going to be exceptionally pissed off.

Even if they draft, say, Blackmon or Floyd, they're still rookies, and there's not that veteran leadership at the WR position for the Browns that the young guys need to really look-up too. I think that there's no question Holmgren and Heckert will snag a couple WR during the off-season. I'm torn, because if it were up to me, they'd definitely go OL with their FIRST pick, but I also know that there's a need for an immediate impact player.

Burfict will be there in the 2nd Round. I don't think he'll have an overly impressive off-season, and his "attitude" will knock him to the 2nd Round. We'll see how it all goes, but I think that this is - without a doubt - the most critical off-season the Browns have faced since '99. They're close, and no doubt 10 times better than they were before Holmgren and Heckert got to Cleveland, but this team is making a run at the playoffs with a competent offense, imo. Aside from Derek Anderson, and a few games against the Patriots and Saints, I've seen nothing from the Orange & Brown on offense that would lead me to believe they could even win at the high school level.

We're close, no doubt. We need to revamp our offensive talent (and get a REAL OC) and add depth (on both sides), and the Brownies will have something to work with.

What're your guys' thoughts on Bernard Pierce from Temple? Kid has 27 TDs for the Owls this season. Nice balance and size (6'1 220 lbs). Just an overall great back, imo. Would be a nice late-round pick-up, if he's there of course.

Also hated playing him when Temple played Toledo. Bruising back that has a decent burst.

I saw a mock where he is projected mid first round.

So I was cleaning out my "inbox", or whatever you call it on Twitter, and found this interesting message from the overly intelligent LeCharles Bentley.

"You NOT listening?? Those guys bring something SPECIAL to the game!! Sheard doesn't!"

He sent that too me on July 28th when all the drama about Ray Edwards was going on with the Browns. He was talking about the likes of Jared Allen, and some of the other better defensive ends in the league on his radio show.

I Tweeted him to remind him of his remarks, and said 48 tackles, 7.5 sacks, and 5 FF later? He of course replied with:

No I didn't but thanks for clinging to my commentary

@DerekMcQuaid: N July u said that Jabaal Sheard would bring NOTHING to the Browns dline

I sent him his exact quote, and he's yet to respond. What a douche.

Well, to be fair.....LeCharles is a retard and usually make little to no sense.

It was just hilarious he said he didn't say that, and tried to act like I was just a groupie or something. But when I sent him the direct quote, he ran and hid.

Isn't he doing his own radio show or something? I'd think he'd be flattered if I were clinging to his commentary, clearly no one else is.

Wow...pitiful Bengals fan has a hard on for the Browns. Looks like we have a new mini-Capone.

Well when your team isn't shown on local tv even though they're in the playoff hunt and you got rid of your player that would buy up the rest of the seats what would you expect?

If the Browns draft a Barkley or RG3, Holmgren better come down out of the booth & coach because Shurmur will ruin him.

I agree 1,000 fold. Particularly in the instance of RGIII, where Shurmur would be more clueless than normal as far as how to handle a QB with his unique talents.

He would saddle him under center and totally neuter all the special talents he brings to the field because "the system" and "the process" take precedent over everything.

is it bad I'm kinda happy we lost so we have a somewhat better pick? Not that the pick will work out, cuz we're the browns...

I was expecting a win and for them to completely blow their draft slot. Normally, I'm not rooting for the draft pick but if they can get to #4 they have a very good shot at one of the top QB's without trading picks. They need to get their franchise QB.

Perfect scenario...browns lost and covered the spread. early christmas for durkie

If the Browns stay at 4 wins, and the other team's dont win, they are looking at the 4-6 pick. Teams potentially ahead of them.

Indy (locked to be ahead of Browns): probably will want Luck.
Rams (could win 2 more to make it interesting..doubtful): Already have their QB.
Minny (could win 2 more to make it interesting..doubtful): Drafted their QB, but would they draft another?
Jacksonville (4 wins): Same as minny.
Tampa (4 wins): They have Josh Freeman.

Barkley could fall right into place for the Browns. Either that or, there are a few teams that would be right behind the Browns (redskins and dolphins), that might be willing to be trade raped for Barkley. That would be a huge win for the Browns imo if they could pull a trade off and get another 1st rd pick. They would only be falling to the 10th pick at worst (for the moment).
• DeyDurkie5
I honestly don't see a browns win the rest of the way. They will be at 4-12, in that draft range of 4-6, and it will be interesting to see who is there. Some of the scenarios that could be happening with the picks will essentially tell us what the front office wants to do with this team. Most important draft for this team in quiet some time, maybe ever.
