Lebron did the smart thing, and a thing every star should do, put pressure on the organization to build a team around him. He gave them three years and they didn't do it.
Yet, you wanted him to commit to another 5 years after knowing they didn't do anything in the previous six years he was there? After the GM and coach were fired?
Any person with any sense would have done the exact same thing Lebron did (minus the decision).
To answer your first point, no...not when it's keeping free agents from commiting here, long term.
To answer the second part of your third point, the coach & GM got fired BECAUSE of Lebron. Despite LBJ's, after the fact, adulation of Mike Brown, he didn't like him as a coach. He already tried pulling the same shit with Spoelstra earlier in the year.
And he had EVERY right to leave. That's why it's called "free" agency. But before he starts pointing fingers, after the fact, he should look at the REAL reason the Cavs didn't win a title....HIMSELF(ish). -
BR1986FBthedynasty1998;699608 wrote:Then why was Ferry fired?
Ferry was fired because Gilbert wanted to stick his fingers in the pie (personnel decisions ala Mark Cuban) and Ferry wouldn't agree to it. -
ytownfootballthedynasty1998;699608 wrote:Then why was Ferry fired?
because when you own one of the better players in the league you put the blame somewhere other than your star -
wes_mantoothI don't know why you guys have this debate....it is pretty easy to see what some peoples intentions are on here. You guys get sucked in to it every time!!! lmao

Shame for Lebron on the three year extension. He should have left immediately after his rookie deal.BR1986FB;699611 wrote:To answer your first point, no...not when it's keeping free agents from commiting here, long term.

That's fine, most rational fans would look at the Cavs over the last six years, and say they were even in the playoff BECAUSE OF LEBRON. But you can look at it the other way.
There is no way the Cavs did everything they could for Lebron. If they did, he would still be in Cleveland. -

No shit. Dude comes on here when he doesn't have a clue about the pulse of the Cleveland sports scene, talking out his ass, trying to stir shit up, and a lot of us seem to fall for it. Less direct than Capone was but essentially the same effect. -

lol that's what I thought. How do you know I wasn't a fan of LeBron when he was in Cleveland exactly? I watched Cavs games only because LeBron played for them. I have been a fan of his since watching him play in high school which is probably why I haven't suddenly changed my opinion of him from savior/hero to a fucking sellout pussy like most on the OC. I'm glad that you know so much about me. -
ytownfootballWhat? Like have Bosh and Wade agree to come to Cleveland?
You're an idiot. -
karen lotzPick6;699552 wrote:and i'd like to see a link that shows getting stars to join you is a lot easier in Chicago, Boston, etc, than it is Cleveland. Its well documented that Lebron didn't try to recruit players around the time of his FA.
You need a link to show you the advantages of playing in Boston and Chicago over Cleveland? -

Not that I'm going to spend the painstaking time to try to find the article but there was a reason for the 3 year deal. He couldn't move to make this "Dream Team" in Miami (or wherever they'd end up) happen. Somehow the contracts would not align for all three colluders to join forces when his first contract was up or he would've been gone then. -

The pulse of the Cleveland sports scene? Not even sure what that means. I was as many Cavs games as most last year. Even attended a few.
And it's laughable if anyone thinks Ferry did a good job as GM. -

Who gives a shit if Cleveland's 12th man was better than Boston's 12th man? Playoff rotations get shortened to 7, maybe 8 players. If you honestly think Cleveland's top 7 was better than Boston's there isn't any point in your discussing basketball. Cleveland had the advantage at one position, and its not like Pierce is a bum.BR1986FB;699560 wrote:He didn't NEED anyone "big." For some reason since the Three Stooges got together in Miami and now EVERYONE seems to think teams need multiple "big names."
The Cavs WEREN'T that far off from winning a title. I've said this before but I'll repeat it...before Lebron quit on them in the playoffs, as they were heading into the playoffs, almost EVERY pundit (except maybe Barkley who looks like a genius with how he pegged Lebron), had Cleveland as the "best/deepest" team heading in. All I heard was "they can beat you at whatever style you want to play."
Then, they bow out early and suddenly "Lebron's supporting cast sucks...blah, blah, blah." And before ANYBODY goes into their "well look at this years team without LBJ....they DO suck" shit, this ISN'T the same supporting cast that he had last year. -

I'm not going to say that's not true, because that is one of the conspiracy theories, but I'm skeptical of it. It took a really unique situation for a team to have the cap space to get it done, and Miami was in that situation. -

The talking heads on ESPN always said he did, but I guess we should believe your vast NBA knowledge instead.
My opinion...Ferry was a Yes man to Lebron...and he was good at that. -

Wow smh. Could say the same thing about top players in any sport. Colts only in the playoffs bc of manning etc... Nice fail arguement crynasty. -

Thats great. First time I watched the kid play was when he was 15.
I wonder why Cavs fans think hes a sellout/pussy....
fakes an elbow injury
quits on his team during the playoffs
refuses to return Dan Gilberts calls or emails for 2 weeks leading up to the decision
recruits harder to bring FA players to Miami than he dver did in his 7 years in Cleveland
sends a twitter message about how Karma is a bitch after the Cavs loss to the Lakers
goes on natl TV to announce to the world that hes leaving his hometown fans rather than do it the PROPER way
You STILL dont understand why Cleveland/Cavs fans hate the guy? Gimme a fucking break. -

I Lebron might be half retarded. You mean to tell me you are 25 or 26 and you dont know what the hell the word "contract" means. Compares playing bball to war and calls his teammates soliders (i understand not that big of a deal), but you know its going to offend a lot of people. -

I wouldn't go that far, just saying you were wrong in saying that I hated LeBron and the Cavs. -

He has an "out." His body was possessed by Kellen Winslow Jr
