agree with this on all counts.
however, I think Bonds, McGwire, Sosa, Palmeiro et al. will eventually get in. In a generation, there will be nostalgia and forgiveness. The one advantage the steroid pariahs have over Shoeless Joe and Pete is they have not been formally sanctioned or banned from the game.
whether this is right or wrong...just what I believe will happen. Even more so when you have the transitional players like ARod and Clemens, Pettitte. It becomes a really grey area with PED's, and although I will consider Bonds a cheater and a jerk until the day I die, he probably will get the HOF eventually. If only Pete were that lucky.
