Should The Cleveland Cavs Retire LeBron's Number?

  • mallymal614
This is a serious question. He is the Cavs all time leader in scoring, minutes played, and second in assists. He also took the franchise to their only NBA finals and best regular season record ever. Players such as Mark Price, Larry Nance, and Brad Daughtery didn't do any of that. Does Lebron jersey deserve to be in the rafters?

    Won't happen.

    Yes

They should based on his stats, but I have my doubts if it ever happens

    They should.

agreed....Gilbert would have none of that.

    LMAO no for many reasons.

I think Z gets his number retired though.

    ^^^

Why?? What has he ever accomplished?

Absolutely not. Why would we retire a Heat player? Sorry I hold retiring a jersey in high regard. I think in most cases they pretty much have a win a title unless its a player like Ewing, Karl Malone, etc... LBJ wont even have played majority of his career here.

I didn't think about that, good point.

    This.

Bron played 7 years in Cleveland and is set to play the rest(8-10?) years in another uniform. Should 23 be retired in Cleveland? Based on stats yes. Based on who that player was, no.

    No.

No Cleveland fan will ever look up into the rafters at the #23 and have a good feeling.

No way he should be retired. Not after the way he left.

Not alot, but he was very popular and spent a lot of years here.

    Yes, he "should".

Probably one of the most beloved Cavs ever.

The only #23 that will ever have the chance of being retired in the rafters at the Q is Michael Jordan. And that is if the NBA ever mandates that #23 be retired by all teams.

The Cavs must not have the same thought process, as they have retired 6 numbers, none of which were champions and none of which were the caliber Malone.

I was gonna say that, but didn't want to take the heat(no pun) for saying it lol

I don't think it will ever happen but that's the only way a #23 even comes close to being retired in Cleveland.

    All-time Cavs ranks:

    Games: 1
    Starts: 1
    Points: 2
    Rebounds: 1
    Blocked shots: 1

He spent twice as much time in Cleveland as LeBron, which will be all but maybe 1-2 seasons of his entire career. He battled back through multiple foot surgeries and was a fan favorite. He was a constant through decent, terrible, and then great years.

If (when) LeBron finally ever gets his title his career legacy will be as a member of the Heat, not the Cavs.

There is no question Ilgauskas is more deserving to get his jersey retired in Cleveland when you look at the whole picture.

Normally, I think there is no question that his jersey would belong in the rafters, but as a result of the way he left the city, I don't think it will ever happen.
  • KR1245
ONLY way this ever happens is if he decides to opt out and return to Cleveland. He is as good as dead to that organization.
  • Al Bundy
Can we just hang LeBron from the rafters instead of his jersey?
