Read my post AGAIN and shut the fuck up you toolbag.
There are no flaws in the teams he picks.
You're a flaming homosexual for trying to criticize someone's fanhood.
Who the fuck cares? He roots for who he roots for. It doesn't affect your life, so fuck off.
It doesn't matter WHY he likes a team, it only matters that he likes them. Everyone has different reasons for rooting for a team. Who REALLY cares about people who only root for a team because they were successful during the time period when most people develop a strong feeling of love for a team? The only people that care are weak and insecure with themselves.
I like the Florida Gators. The reasons why are irrelevant, because if you actually give a shit that I like both the Buckeyes and Gators (a team that until 2007 no one in this state had a reason to hate) then you are a WEAK piece of shit, and I would almost feel bad for you if you weren't such a shithead. -

LOL. You are jumping all over the place.
You should just reply to every response with, "BE LIKE ME!" -
Commander of AwesomeNo I'm not. OSU trumps all ohio college teams because it encompasses the entire state. Thus everyone in Ohio should by default be a blue jackets fan/Cavs fan because they're the only pro team in that sport in the state.

1. Only a douche uses the term "pwned"Commander of Awesome;441292 wrote:You were pwned last night by a board member you called a POS and likened them to a murder in Memphis. You have no room to talk.
Also way to recycle the same joke which wasn't funny the first time. Perhaps I should recycle the comment I made about updating my profile on OC since you go there so often?
2. My comparison to murder was legit, because someone said I can't dislike someone personally if they don't do something to me personally or to my family. It was a dumb statement and I proved it wrong.
3. It's not a joke. I did update my facebook status, and I'm assuming that you knew that since you stalk me on facebook. Just in case you didn't know, thought I'd let you know since you obviously find me important enough to search out on facebook and try to find some "dirt" -

Self pwned. Nice FAIL. You and gibby should go and gloat to each other. -

Do tell me, then... What about Reds/Indians and Browns/Bengals. What about people are geographically equidistant from both Cincinnati and Cleveland? -
gorocks99LOLZ caring about who other people root for.

Cleveland then because Cincinnati is too close to Kentucky. Kentucky people root for the Reds/Bengals and that is enough to not root for them. -

Ohio State encompasses the entire state? Can you explain that? -
thedynasty1998FYI, this is all very informative. Commander should teach this to kids across the state.

Oh right, I forgot to dumb it down for you. My apoligies. Ok, dynasty, Ohio state means the state of Ohio. It is the THE state university. Its the biggest college in the state. It is the STATE school of Ohio. All of ohio falls under its umbrella.thedynasty1998;441315 wrote:Ohio State encompasses the entire state? Can you explain that? -

But you seem to be more concerned with geography. Here's some more logic for you:
Ohio University is the oldest state school in Ohio, so shouldn't everyone be an OU fan first and foremost? They were established first, and represent the state of Ohio. Based on geography, shouldn't people be fans of the closest state school, whether it's Bowling Green, Akron, Cincinnati, OU, OSU or the others?
Please enlighten me. -
Commander of AwesomeNice wikipedia-ing. The answer is no. Ohio State. You're talking about Ohio University. Its hardly even a real college. Its called party u for a reason. I know thats difficult for you to understand since you transfered to Ashland. BGSU, Akron, Cinn, Xaiver, Miami, etc do not represent the STATE of Ohio. Thus Ohio STATE University reigns supreme.

Terry_TateI for one don't care at all how someone started rooting for a team as long as they are loyal to them and don't switch it up when things aren't going well. The only exception to that is someone who only roots for winners and then shoves it in my(or anyone) face. I don't want to hear from someone who just started watching the NFL and is a huge Colts or Saints or Pittsburgh fan when I've been watching the Bengals my whole life(when their games weren't blacked out that is ). Other than that, if someone lives here that roots for the Dolphins that's fine, or Texans or whomever. I don't really have a favorite NBA team but I'm partial to the Bucks because of Michael Redd.
The only thing that bothers people is when someone breaks the unwritten code of not just hoping onto the best team or one of the best teams because it's too easy. For example, I'm in the process of picking an EPL team to follow and I will not choose Manchester United or Chelsea, or really any of the top teams just because it's picking them because they're good. Now I'm not going to only look at the bottom 4 or anything, but it just doesn't seem right to pick the best team.
The point is, if people like Notre Dame or the Lakers or Duke that's fine, you just better have the same fandom when they suck, which is why I'm cool with all Notre Dame fans on here now.(joke!) -

So my facebook page says I transferred? You know more about my facebook page than I do.
So, it's not required to root for the school closest to you geographically if there is a bigger in state school? It's all making sense now.
So, someone who goes to school at say Cincinnati shouldn't be a fan of them, but rather Ohio State, because you say so? -

I may have picked winning teams when I was young...but I have been their fan since I picked them...
Reds since 1976
Steelers since 1977 (ofcourse I am a season tix holder for the Texans)
Celtics since 1979
NY Rangers since 1982
Duke Basketball since 1983
Ohio State football since birth
call me what you want...but I have stayed loyal to these teams my entire life. -

Haha OWNED. -
HeathAlum21This entire thread is amusing. As Ernest said, he selected his teams at the age of 5 years old. What does a 5 year old look for when "choosing" a team? I would list winning, a star player, someone who is on television(the teams that win), and even to some extent the color of the uniforms. I can't speak for Ernest, but for me personally, my father never had a vested interest in sports teams nor is he much of a sports fan. So if choosing teams very young, should we switch teams once we have proper consciouness? This seems to be against the general logic as well.

City of Chicago just got PWNED! -
like_thatWhy is this thread back to begin with? I could have sworn this thread was buried a day after "the decision."
These are my problems with bandwagon fans:
1. They are normally fair weather fans. Never ran into one who isn't. They are definitely vocal about their team and talk a lot of shit during the good teams, but when times are tough you won't hear them say shit about their team. They stop watching games, and I know for a fact they don't pay attention to the moves that might build the team back into a winner in the future.
2. There is no allegiance to the city. They don't understand the personality of the fans, they don't know their passion for their team (or lack of). How can you understand how the city of Pittsburgh feels when they win the super bowl if you are form Ohio? You can't. During the good times with the Cavs, my freshmen roommate was from Tennessee, and all of a sudden he became a Cavs fan. I told him to get the fuck out, because he didn't know shit about Cleveland sports, and it would feel empty to him if they did anything. That same year they make the finals, and he sure as hell didn't feel the same excitement I did.
3. IMO it is a true indication of your personality. If you can only pick teams because they are good, and then not support them when they are bad, then what does that say about you? It never fails with bandwagon fans. I had a housemate this past school year, and he was a "Boston/NE fan." To summarize each season:
Bosox: They started the season by sweeping the Yankees, and he started talking about a lot of shit about it. Later in the year they start getting buried in the division by the Yankees, and all of a sudden he doesn't care about baseball anymore because of steroids and the salary cap lol.
NE: They weren't having their typical SB season, so he made all kinds of excuses for them, and even stopped watching their games on TV.
Celtics: Same with the above. Didn't even watch the first rd of the playoffs because he said the Celtics quit, they are old, and they suck. He didn't think they would get passed Miami. He still wasn't watching the Cle series until they were tied 2-2. THEN all of a sudden he is a huge Celtics fan all the way through the finals. Which I would like to add he made many excuses for that series as well (ref).
In his own life, he makes excuses all the time when things aren't going well. If we are down by a TD in intramural sports he blames it on some type of injury, if he isn't doing well in school he will blame it on some type of "distraction."
In short most bandwagon fans find the easy way out in their fandom and in their lives. Look at LeBron. he was a big bandwagon fan. Fan of the Yankees, Cowboys, and i believe the Bulls as a kid. What does he do when times get tough for him? He ran to the easiest route to a title. Its honestly a big joke imo when i see someone root for a bunch of teams outside of Ohio, but yet they are also Buckeye fans. I wonder why? Oh, because they are good, ok. -

It's an even bigger joke that you spent time writing that entire post, and an EVEN BIGGER JOKE THAT YOU CARE about other people's teams that they root for.
