Cavs fans....hypothetical question
-
thedynasty1998Okay, how about Mike Conley.
I understand the difference and that it's different in going to get a paycheck compared to switching who is paying you. But they are somewhat similar and people say they are upset with Lebron for not delivering on a promise, which I think is ridiculous. -

Not necessarily. There will be quite a few of us who are long time fans who will be irate. I can't speak for everyone personally but if the dude puts up 45 points in game 5 and they lose, I don't have as much of a beef (I'd still be pissed) but if he leaves after tanking that game 5 it's essentially saying "screw you Cleveland, I'm gone."
Don't mistake being pissed off as "hating" him with me. Even if he leaves I won't "hate" him. I don't have enough time in my life to waste on that kind of stupidity. I won't root for him or wish him well and I sure as hell will hope he NEVER wins a title but I won't hate him. -

If you are an OSU fan, do you have the same dislike for Evan Turner? First off, he chose to attend Ohio State, unlike Lebron who was picked by the Cavs. Both talked about winning a championship this year, and failed to accomplish that ultimate goal. Both are leaving without accomplishing what they set out to accomplish. Turner is leaving school early to pursue a better life for himself and his family. Is Lebron not doing the same thing? He's trying to put himself in the best possible situation for him to grow and success personally and professionally.
It might not be the best comparison, but I do think it is somewhat similar.
And I can kind of twist this scenario a bit. What if Lebron was drafted by the Clippers and came home for visits? Would he still be loved in his home town (Akron) when he came back? OF COURSE he would but the fact that you have thrown the "hometown boy" factor into the equation, this is where it all gets ugly. Leaving an area that you supposedly "love" for money is going to look like he betrayed the city to many. Something like that is not really what would piss me off, it's taking a shit in that game 5 and then saying "see ya" that would stick in my craw. -
thedynasty1998Okay, if you were in his shoes, what do you do?
I love Columbus, but if I get a job offer in Chicago, Miami, LA, San Diego, Boston and a few others, I'm gone tomorrow.
Just because he might leave Cleveland, doesn't mean he doesn't love Akron. -

Well Conley Oden and company took us to a national championship game and then bolted for greener pastures.
I think you're understating the difference between going from no paycheck to giant paycheck than from changing who pays. -

Who made this a "what should he do" debate? If he feels he has a better chance to win a ring somewhere else, at LESS money (because there's no way in fuck that I sign & trade him if I'm Gilbert), than go for it. It doesn't change the fact that he will be public enemy #1 in NE Ohio after shitting the bed in game 5 and then scooting out of town.
And if he leaves for greener pastures it doesn't mean that Akron is going to continue to love him. -

I kind of meant that the fair weather fans are a lot more unreasonable and therefore a lot more likely to actually hate him.BR1986FB;401190 wrote:Not necessarily. I know that the real fans will still be mad for sure. -
thedynasty1998I know I am, but there are some Cavs fans on here who have said they are mad at Lebron for not delivering on a promise to win a Championship. I think that's the last thing you should be mad about.

No they're not. They're mad at a partial reason why we didn't win the championship, which is Lebron's lack of effort in the Boston series. It's fine if Lebron promises a championship then plays his heart out and loses (see 2007), but it's not fine when Lebron promises a championship then doesn't give a championship worthy effort. -

He deserves better? Lets say Lebron is a Knick........what the hell do you think the NY media and fans would be like after his game 5 performace? You have to be clueless if you think the Cleveland fans are too hard on him. If he played like that as a Knick he would be ripped to shreds. You think Cleveland fans are bad? You have NO idea. -

Agreed!!
Thedynasty that is absolutely hilarious that you think he will be treated better at a place like NY or Chicago lollllllooool -
KR1245People act as if the NY/Chicago media and fans would just pat him on the back "better luck next time buddy".........gimme a break.
-
thedynasty1998I'm not saying that he deserves better from the media and as far as expecations. What I'm saying is that everyone is saying, screw you Lebron, you didn't deliver on your promise, you wear your Yankees hat and should be wearing an Indians cap. He's done more for Cleveland than probably any individual in the last 20 years, yet no one seems to care.

Awwwww no one appreciates Lebron how sad
Just wait til he fails to bring a title to NY and see what he gets from that media -
thedynasty1998Knicks fans are just desperate for a competitive team.

SportsAndLadythedynasty1998;401354 wrote:Knicks fans are just desperate for a competitive team.
Okay? Cool.
But when they don't get a title, they will crucify Lebron. Lebron's "crucifixion" in Cleveland was like a slap on the wrist compared to waht New York will do to him. And he wants Cleveland fans to take it easy on him? LOL -
thedynasty1998The New York media is rough, no doubt about that. But Lebron has already been talked about on a national level and I think that the New Yorkers would appreciate the excitement Lebron brings for at least a few years, so the pressure of winning a championship might not be there immediately.
-
I Wear PantsLebron leaves for anywhere and he is instantly my least favorite NBA player.
-
BR1986FBIf he leaves, I think the NY/NJ media are the LEAST of his worries. It would more likely be the Chicago media but in that case he'd CONSTANTLY be under the microsope being compared to MJ.

New Yorkers are going to appreciate the excitement of Lebron for a few years? NEW YORKERS? Arguably the most obnoxious people on the planet are going to let Lebron slide? IF Lebron shows up to play in that city the pressure to win a title starts the day he signs the dotted line. You have got to be kidding me with this. -
hoops23New Yorkers are the same people who started going ape shit over a few non World Series years for the Yankees.
thedynasty, your ignorance continues to amaze me.
SQ was on to something with you, no doubt. -
hoops23Also, in Cleveland/Akron, LeBron has privacy. Little to no paparazzi and people treat him like a normal person.
He won't get that same treatment in NY/Mia/Chi, etc..
People can say what they want, but LeBron does like his privacy.
Also, LeBron has pretty much been in Ohio since the season ended for the Cavs. He also met with Dan Gilbert on Monday I believe.. -

Reghi was talking about this the other day. I guess it depends on what he REALLY wants. Uproot your family and move them to media happy South Beach, Chi-town or NY or stay in quiet little NE Ohio.
