Stanley Cup Finals: Blackhawks vs. Flyers

It's been fun to watch, but it sure feels like I'm not watching the 2 best NHL teams. But now that its 2-2 the pressure is really on. The next 2 or 3 games should be great.

Any way the Flyers can lose and Hossa breaks his leg?

Other teams had a chance to prove they were better and couldn't get it done.

    It's a possibility.

You don't make it to the Stanley Cup Finals without having alot of a talent. Different styles of play don't mean less or more talented.

I actually liked the game last night. Flyers defense is definitely giving the Hawks some fits. Meanwhile, the Hawks defense and Niemi has looked very average if not bad in some spots. Some of those goals last night were just too easy.

    At least going to 6, and I wouldn't mind a game 7.
I still think the Hawks win, but am 50/50 if in 6 or 7.

The Flyers are in the Finals because Leighton was unconscious against Boston (who is anemic offensively) and Montreal finally came back to earth. The Hawks are much more talented and no one who follows hockey would argue that point. I guarantee if the Hawks split up Toews and Kane and expose how awful Philly is defensively outside of Pronger, they will win the next two games. The Flyers have some talent, not taking anything away from them, but it would be considered a big upset if they beat the Hawks.

There seems to be an irrational dislike for the Flyers on this thread. Now that the series is even at 2-2, I really don't have a horse in this race but it is amusing to see people shifting their predictions and squirming around for a better position if the hated Fjyers actually come back and capture Lord Stanley's Cup this season. I don't necessarily think the Flyers will end up on top but for those of you who picked a four game sweep. keep in mind that you are leaving yourselves no margin of error and it looks bad when the underdog is sitting a 2-2 after four. My advice would be to go with a six or seven game series. It's more probable and you look much wiser when the final results are in.

Sorry, but you do not make the Cup finals becasue of one players performance. One player doesn't get the team 12 wins to get this far. I also never said that I thought Philly was more talented, I simply stated that they have a good amount of talent.

Many would argue JS Giguere got the Ducks to the Finals by himself so it does happen. Let me rephrase my statement then. Leighton is the biggest reason they are in the Finals and I don't think they beat Boston if he is not inserted in the lineup. You need luck to get to the Finals and the Flyers have gotten a lot of help this year by not having to go through Washington or Pittsburgh and with Leighton coming in and playing out of his mind against the Bruins and Canadiens. Yes the Flyers do have talent but the Hawks have more and should not lose this series.

Like I said, Flyers in 7. Watch and learn.

I agree with most of that. I think that Ducks team also had Temu Selanne, Rob and Scott Niedemeyer, Chris Pronger, etc.. I think they had a lot to do with it.

I think Pronger was still with the Blues in '03. I know he wasn't with the Ducks on that run. JS did as much as any single player has to get a team to the finals though. Conn Smythe on the losing team speaks volumes. But of course someone has to provide a little offense and defense too and that team did have some great players, that's for sure.

It was 2007, not 2003. All of those guys were on the team.

We must have each been talking about different seasons.

Wrong year my friend. JSG led the Ducks to the SCF in 2003.

    Pretty much what SYL said.

    Yes.

JSG led the team to the SCF in 2003.

Samuel Phalsson pretty much did the same in 2007.

Hawks all over Philly right now 2-0. Flyers cannot match up with the Hawks splitting up Toews and Kane and are getting dominated in the first period.
  • KnightXC1
Make it 3-0 Hawks. Flyers look like they don't even belong in the same rink right now.
  • slingshot4ever
My Blackhawks wooped that ass 7-4 tonight. Game 6 Wednesday night in Philly.
  • KnightXC1
Hawks still had a couple of bad breakdowns that led to Philly goals but you could see that the Flyers could do nothing to handle the splitting up of Toews and Kane. Hawks should win Game 6 but they need to play better on the defensive end or else in may go back for 7.

Hossa is the MVP of this series right now. His 2way game is incredible.
  • slingshot4ever
Can't wait for Game 6 tomorrow night. Hopefully my Blackhawks can end this series to win their 1st Cup in 49 years.

I think home ice is more of an advantage than home games in any sport. I still don't care who wins, I'm going to enjoy watching.

If history has any say in this game, wins game 5 (In the SCF) usually wins the cup. So I'll take the Flyers tonight to force a game 7.
