Understanding the Cavs cap situation:

It was a rumor by W&G on RCF.. He's been legit for years in terms of calling things, which is why he's got such a good reputation on that site.like_that wrote: Can someone please show a link where it shows the cavs are pursuing CP3?
Dan Gilbert also said "Don't expect me to sit on my hands while other teams try and steal my franchise player." -

But yet, Andy continues to be a coveted asset to many other teams trade inquiries, past and present. Andy is worth the money he is paid.IggyPride00 wrote:
Andy has one of the worst contracts in the NBA. Alot of years and alot of money for a guy that is a good defender off the bench. But I'd imagine NO would want JJ too because of his youth. But Andy is the better player.
The only thing that slowed him down in the playoffs were severe back spasms. -
like_thatExcuse my ignorance, but what is W&G on RCF?
-
hoops23It's a poster who goes by "Wine & Gold" on the Cavs site Realcavsfan.com

sleeper
Some people say its windhorst, but he's basically the guy that everyone trusts with information. He's called things before they've even happened on numerous occassions(Shaq trade, Jamison, Mo williams deal, etc..)like_that wrote: Excuse my ignorance, but what is W&G on RCF? -
like_thatOh, so what is Bill Cowhers house in strongsville saying?

:huh:like_that wrote: Oh, so what is Bill Cowhers house in strongsville saying?
What does that have to do with anything?
That comment would be better fit with the "LeBron was house shopping in Chicago" comment -- even though he was in Cleveland/Akron that entire week. -
like_thatIt means just like the how the cowher rumors were bullshit, these rumors are just the same.... bullshit

Isn't every rumor bullshit until proven otherwise?like_that wrote: It means just like the how the cowher rumors were bullshit, these rumors are just the same.... bullshit
I mean, the source we're quoting isn't some random dude looking for a home run of a prediction, he's a pretty established guy on that site and like Sleeper said, has called MANY things before they've happened in the past. -
2quik4uI dont see a true point guard working with lebrons play, because lebron dominates the ball so much.

People say this, but LeBron never really dominated the ball in high school. Dru Joyce ran that offense and LeBron worked off the ball.2quik4u wrote: I dont see a true point guard working with lebrons play, because lebron dominates the ball so much.
LeBron either needs to fully play the PG position, or the Cavs need to get a true PG.
And what I mean by truly playing the PG position, I mean by starting at the 1, running the offense, and NOT standing at the top of the key for 19 seconds before making a decision.
He should be able to average 25/13 as a fulltime PG, easily. -
jordo212000If they could get CP3, that would be a steal. I don't care what it takes, Ferry better do it, even if it includes BOTH big guys. Then just go to another team strapped for cash and buy one of their big men
-
IggyPride00NO is not going to trade CP3. Peja's massive deal comes off the books after this year, which is their big cap albatross right now. If they want to trade anyone it is Okafor, who has one of the worst contracts in NBA history.
Besides, some of you guys make no sense. If they were really looking for financial relief in a CP3 deal, they would never take back the 5 years and nearly $45 million Andy is still owed. Not to mention they already have a more expensive version of Andy in Okafor who has a massive long term deal.
When people invent rumors they should at least make them realistic, as there are no scenarios in which it makes sense on NO part to trade CP3 to the Cavs assuming they had a gun to their head and absolutely had to move him. Which they don't. Their financial outlook gets much better after this coming year, which is why the urgency that maybe existed at one time to move him is now gone. -
thedynasty1998Has that much conversation really been wasted on a Chris Paul deal? It's not happening.

W&G is not reliable at all anymore. Windy is a much better source. About the only thing that W&G got right was Mo Williams. I think I am as much of an insider as he is....and I get my NBA knowledge off of NBA 2k10.hoops23 wrote:

Who mentioned Andy as a part of the CP3 deal? We were jsut saying Andy could be a trade piece because he's coveted by teams.IggyPride00 wrote: NO is not going to trade CP3. some of you guys need to read a bit better.
The popular belief is that CP3 WILL be shopped. NO has Darren Collison who played REALLY well for a rookie. When CP3's contract is up, it's unlikely NO signs him again, so they're looking for get pieces for him.
The financial situation isn't just with the cap, it's with the ownership period. NO has been operating in the red for the last couple of seasons and the attendance isn't there to support the current payroll. It goes beyond "who's coming off the books after next season" with the current regime. It's about saving as much money as possible NOW. -
devil1197Anyone who thinks CP3 won't be in some legit trade talks is going to be wrong.
-
thedynasty1998I quit reading after I saw "Andy is coveted by other teams".

I've never fully understood the obsession with Varejao either.thedynasty1998 wrote: I quit reading after I saw "Andy is coveted by other teams". -

Then that just shows your ignorance.thedynasty1998 wrote: I quit reading after I saw "Andy is coveted by other teams".
Which doesn't surprise me. -
wes_mantoothAV is definitely wanted by some teams....not sure why though. I think he has reached his ceiling.
-
thedynasty1998Who wants him, and why?
He has reached his potential, with his style of play, he will drop off quicker than most, he's undersized, can't score and has a bad contract.
Show me otherwise, to prove I'm the one that's ignorant. -

Verajou is a dynamite NBA player. Period. He played like shit for the first time against Boston. Why? Because he was hurt.thedynasty1998 wrote: Who wants him, and why?

His FG percentage is high. His rebounds per minute is very high. He was a tremendous defensive player all year. He was second in the NBA for 6th man award.
And the final nail in your argument is that AV ranked in the top 3 all year in the plus/minus category. Think about that. The top 3 in plus/minus all season.
AV is underpayed...not overpaid.
Anybody that doesn't understand the value if AV, doesn't understand basketball....at all. -

Why? Numbers don't lie. The guy is a friggin beast.jordo212000 wrote:

thedynasty1998I don't buy into the plus minus argument. The fact that he's in the top 3 is the only argument I need to prove its value.
I think he plays hard and is a solid rebounder.
I don't think he's as good of a defender as many seem to think.
And the 6th man award thing was more of a reward to the Cavs having the best record. Plus, he's a bench player. That's why I don't think he's highly coveted, because best case scenario he's a good 6th man that brings energy off the bench.
