Stanley Cup Playoffs, Western Semifinals, Detroit Red Wings vs San Jose Sharks

wildcats20And of course the Wings give up the 2 goal lead AGAIN.
3-3 with under just under 3 to play and the Sharks going on the PP. -
Laley23WTF was that interference call?
Wings forgot to show up this period. Tried to coast to the win and now have to scrap just for OT. -
wildcats20I understand the call; but like most calls, I have seen A LOT worse NOT called.
Holmstrom shoved the Shark player into the Nabokov forcing him to the ground. -
Laley23
who was well outside his crease. I thought they were players when they were outside the crease. I mean, it isnt a penalty if you shove him into another player.wildcats20 wrote: I understand the call; but like most calls, I have seen A LOT worse NOT called.

Laley23Not to mention, they call interference. NOT goalie interference...
-
wildcats20I agree. And honestly, there wasn't even a scoring opp so it's not like he was put at a disadvantage IMO.
-
gabuckeyeWhy isn't the defense on the ice there preventing a pass from getting through? I don't get it... you have to sell out in that situation. Detroit doesn't deserve shit this year.

Have you ever played hockey? Just curious. It was the right call. The Red Wing player knocked the Sharks defensive player into the goalie. Therefore, the correct call of interference on the Red Wing was made for knocking down the defenseman when the puck was not in that area rather than goalie interference since the goalie was outside his crease. It was absolutely the correct call.Laley23 wrote: Not to mention, they call interference. NOT goalie interference...
Typical Red Wing fan though that doesn't understand how the game is actually played and the rules associated with the game. I am not sure why I am surpirsed. -
ptown_trojans_1Never thought the Wings would be down 0-3. What is it with the Wings and California teams-first the Ducks (sweep, 7 last year) and now the Sharks.
Wow. -
Laley23Well this series is ova.

Just seems odd that the call was made when much worse things are let go all the time. Granted it was the Red Wing announcers, but they agreed with me -
rock_knutneI'm shocked Detroit is down 3 games to none........shocked! I thought this was a definite seven game series but never imagined this. Detroit is toast now.
-
End of LineNever thought I'd see Detroit down 3-0.
-
TedSheckler...And it's the greatest thing ever.

KnightXC1^^ After last night, HELL NO WE DON'T!
Was busy last night and today so couldn't get here till now.
First off, despicable performance from Jimmy Howard last night. There is no excuse to give up that tying goal from the goal line or the goal at the end of the first period for that matter because you can't get your damn pad down and are out of position. Down 3-0, might as well give Ozzie a look because Howard could be no worse than he has been thus far.
Secondly, that first goal being disallowed was crap. It should go the same it does in football. Since they ruled it a goal, there should be indisputable video evidence that Hank kicked the puck, which from every angle, there was not. His skate came up but there was certainly no distinct kicking motion. Was basically no different from Holmstroms goal minutes later.
Knew as soon as it went to OT, the Wings were screwed. Unless they win in the first 6-7 minutes of OT, they never find a way to win OT games. Been like that for 10 years. Last long OT playoff game they won that I remember was in the 02 Finals against Carolina. Terrible job of guys leaking too far into the defensive zone allowing the Sharks a goal any of us could score (one goal that wasn't Howards' fault at all).
That said, they still outplayed the Sharks the majority of the game and have been for most of the series. Few bad breaks, bad penalties taken, and some questionable calls against them have hurt and without that, series could easily be 2-1 Wings but it is what it is. They have a lot of work to do now but has to start tomorrow night. Have to protect home ice and at least have a chance to get back out to SJ for a game 5. -
bigkahunaDamn 4-0 in the FIRST!!!!!!!
Franzen already has the Hat Trick! -
killer_ewokFranzen has 4 goals in the 1st period. Insane.
-
Laley23
Bertuzzi had the first on a deflection, but still insane. Detroit, once again plays its hardest when they HAVE to. Doubt they can pull this one out though.killer_ewok wrote: Franzen has 4 goals in the 1st period. Insane. -
bigkahunaI thought it was only 3 and they were saying the 1st was tipped by another player in front of the net. I don't know if the official scoring has changed it to him or not.
-
killer_ewok
From what I saw....Franzen has all 4 goals.Laley23 wrote:

Laley23It was changed to Bertuzzi. The announcers were laughing at the hats being thrown because they were "early" and they hadnt announced the change in the arena yet. Then like 2 seconds later he got the 3rd haha.
5-0 now, btw. -
killer_ewokYeah, I just saw that it was changed to Bertuzzi.
