Stanley Cup Playoffs, Western Semifinals, Detroit Red Wings vs San Jose Sharks
-
wildcats20Wings have come out with a TON more energy to start the 2nd.
-
Laley235-3 for a minute, followed by a PP for a minute for SJ. This could be bad news for the Wings.
-
Laley23SJ scores on the 5 on 3, but not on the PP. 4-2 now. 18 to go.
-
Laley23GOAL! 4-3.
-
Fab1bCome on tie this shit up
-
Laley23Man, they survived that PP, and then didnt get much going on theirs. Too bad, they look dead tired at even strength so far tonight.
-
wildcats20Not surprised with a loss after a pretty tough 7 game series ending only 2 days ago.
-
Laley23Well that was a little disappointing, lol.
Sharks take game one 4-3. -
SpeedofsandI watched the whole game, enjoyed it !

Then how did they barely get past Coyotes if they are soooo good?Laley23 wrote:

3-1 now.
Detroit was the best team in the NHL after the Olympics when their team was healthy. -
Laley23So im sure the Caps were a huge fluke for the entire regular season too? No way could anyone consider them a really good team.

Because the Coyotes were a good team. They didn't get 100 points this year by accident. Have the Vezina Trophy finalist and Jack Adams finalist running their team.slingshot4ever wrote: Then how did they barely get past Coyotes if they are soooo good?
Outside of that 1:19 stretch in the 1st period, the Wings were outplaying the Sharks the whole rest of the night. Would like to see a few more shots on goal but that will come. Refs were God awful in that game. How they missed the high stick on Franzen, who then falls and trips a guys from San Jose and call that is beyond me. You could almost read Franzen's lips with blood dripping down his face saying "How'd I get cut then?". And that call led directly to the winning goal.
No worries after one game, same thing happened last game. Sharks won't be getting goals that fast again this series and Detroit needs to continue to play their game and they will be fine. Get the split out there then come home and take care of business.
PS, as long as another channel is available, I will never watch another game on VS. Announcers were horrendous and the cameras couldn't follow the puck to save their lives. Couldn't count how many shots from the point were not shown because the camera didn't know what was going on. -
End of LineFranzen is a beast when it comes to the playoffs.

Totally agree with this post. My g/f (a huge Wings fan) came home late last night and the first thing I said to her was "they're down 3-0, but they'll get them back."KnightXC1 wrote:

And re: VS - my goodness, that was awful. Did they have the JV squad in San Jose for this one? -

I agree with all of this. The miss on Franzen was one thing but the dive at the end of the 2nd for the 5 on 3 was bad. Honestly, I didn't expect Detroit to win Game 1 regardless. Detroit needs to figure out how to break down SJ's strong PK though, because they didn't do anything against it.KnightXC1 wrote:

Oh, and I loved the advertisements of VS getting in the way of live action... it was a nice touch. -
Swamp FoxThe Wings need this second game, but Detroit seems to be a team that likes to climb huge mountains rather than get themselves in a good position early. We'll just have to see what the Wings want to do this time. I think they are the better team but that doesn't mean much sometimes. I hope this isn't one of those times.

Forgot about the ads running across the screen. Came up the one time and you couldn't see the player with the puck. Just awfulgabuckeye wrote:

KnightXC1Might as well bump this up to the top page for the game tonight. If the Wings continue to play the way they did in Game 1, they will be just fine. Sharks won't get another outburst like they had in the first game so just need to limit their chances and continue to pressure Nabokov. Hopefully VS doesn't suck as bad tonight as it did 2 nights ago.
-
daveI'm thinking we'll see Osgood tonight.
-
Laley23on VS, the camera man is clearly trying to keep the picture wide and not as tight on the rink. Kinda funny given that whoever was running the Game Cam last game kept losing it. Im guessing the producer is in the guys ear all night telling him to pull out and keep the shot wider.
Datsuyk with a great goal. But SJ about to have another PP. Detroit up 1-0. -
Laley23
Was this in reference to a start or because you think Howard is gonna get pulled?dave wrote: I'm thinking we'll see Osgood tonight. -
Laley23Knight, you are banned from saying a team wont have a burst again.... lol
