Stanley Cup Playoffs, Western Semifinals, Detroit Red Wings vs San Jose Sharks
-
Laley23Fast paced period so far. Both teams have been pretty good at sustaining pressure in the offensive zone, even at full strength.
-
Speedofsandhelluva 1st period. this and game 1 seem much more intense than all the 1st round series.
-
davesharks are going to wear down the wings at this rate.
-
Laley23goal Lidstrom as the SJ penalty was expiring. I think it will be a PP goal officially. 3-2 Wings.
-
Laley233-2 Wings after two periods.
-
wildcats20Shit shit shit. 4-3 Sharks
-
slingshot4everWhat a bullshit call against San Jose.
-
slingshot4everSharks take 2-0 lead in series with 4-3 win tonight.

Kind of like the bullshit call in the first penalty against Detroit for the eventual 5 on 3.slingshot4ever wrote: What a bullshit call against San Jose. -
slingshot4everI didn't see the whole game so I can't respond to that comment.
-
purple_rein^ Bad calls both ways for sure. Some terrible refereeing in that game, more than just those 2 calls.
-
KnightXC1One of the worst officiated games I have ever seen. All 3 goalie interference calls were crap, penalty on Bertuzzi where the guy dove was awful, and the NHL should be embarassed by their refs after this. I will almost never blame a game on the refs but they cost the Red Wings this game. Usually the calls even out but tonight was a joke.
And to add to it, Lidstrom's stick broke which leads to the GWG. I have said many times stupid crap happens to the Wings when they play out West and tonight was another good example. Still not worried about the series with them down 0-2 going home because unless the calls go like this again, Wings will go back out west tied at 2. -
Strapping Young LadNHL officiating is a complete joke and has been in nearly every game I've seen this postseason. It has to be THE worst officiated league in pro sports. They really need to do something to fix it because its ridiculous. Almost nothing could ruin hockey for me but this is pushing it.

Swamp FoxWhen you give the home team enough power plays to win World War 2 and just continue to make stupid penalties, I don't care if a few were marginal. How about this for a concept?. Just have some discipline and play hockey instead of whatever it was they were playing last night. They could have won last night's game had they decided that putting themselves in a two player disadvantage right after seemingly taking control of the game was a completely brainless thing to do. Now, another mountain out of a mole hill as the Wings will have to climb out of another incredible hole, caused entirely by the Wings themselves. Eventually, they will put themselves at such a disadvavtage that even the Wings can't find a way out. I think they are already there. I realize that the Wings have been very successful and I should be happy about their success and follow them through thick and thin, but it is so totally frustrating to be a Wings fan, because this habit they have of doing really dumb things over a period of years is disheartening.
-
KnightXC1^^ Let's not get carried away here. The 5-3 disadvantage was a result of the terrible call on Bertuzzi while the Wings had a powerplay. Cleary made a dumb penalty after which was his own doing but they aren't in that situation if not for the horrendous call against Bertuzzi. They do need to have more discipline but when about 5 of the 8 penalties were crap, you have to wonder a little. And I don't think it is that big of a hole. Sharks have shown that no one outside of Pavelski can consistently produce throughout the playoffs and their D is very weak outside of Boyle and Blake. I don't think they can beat the Wings in Detroit, now that the Wings have the advantage of last change and can get the matchups they want.
Series doesn't start until the home team loses and I don't see the Wings losing on home ice to this team. Sharks are a good team but not a 2-0 team. -
gabuckeyeThe Wings need to just start taking dives live San Jose has perfected. Both times in the last two games there have been ridiculous penalties that have led to 5-on-3 situations.
-
gabuckeyeBump for tonight.
-
Laley23Obviously, a must win for the Wings. I think the last shift will be a huge advantage. I dont expect the Wings to take any more dumb penalties (a lot were terrible calls, but Kronwall and Cleary had retarded tripping penalties in the 3rd).
-
KnightXC1^^ They did have a couple honest bad penalties, such as the two you mentioned and I do not expect those to continue tonight. The last change will give them a big advantage since they are a much deeper team than the Sharks have shown to be. Wings by a couple tonight to pull within 1. Joe will be rocking tonight.
-
Laley23
Yeah, thats what Im thinking. The last change will prove to be a major point in the games in Detroit, imo.KnightXC1 wrote: ^^ They did have a couple honest bad penalties, such as the two you mentioned and I do not expect those to continue tonight. wildcats20Nice save from Howard
-
gabuckeye1-0 Red Wings
That one counted. -
wildcats20Sharks get a goal 19:58.2 lol and it's 2-1 Wings.
-
wildcats20Zetterberg gets an early goal in the 2nd and it's back to a 2 goal lead for the Wings!!!
-
Laley23Wings have played a solid game thus far (minus the last minute of each period). The last shift has helped immensely, and the face-offs have seemingly been much better, although I havent seen the numbers.
