Stanley Cup Playoffs

3:18 left in the game, Washington needs a mini-miracle at this point, although they can fill it up quick.

Ovechkin and Semin have combined for 15 of the 36

so they've thrown the kitchen sink
  • rock_knutne
Caps score, it's 2-1. They have life.......2:16 left.
  • Non
they'll tie it with like a few seconds left

    high drama

    5 on 4

    yeah right
  • rock_knutne
Wow, Caps get a PP with 1:44 left. Surely they'll pull the goalie for a 2 man advantage near the end if they don't score right away.
  • rock_knutne
They pull the goalie right off the faceoff.

so much for my realtime scoreboard

it went from 30 seconds to 1:44

    the old hot goalie trick

Caps only one goal in each of the last three games

The Habs touched 'em up pretty good from what I saw......

    that's a big-time choke up 3-1

No. 1 seed losing Games 5 and 7 at home

What a blow to Washington... Best record in the NHL, hyped up to be the favorite for the cup, blanked the Pens in the regular season, #1 seed in the playoffs... None of that matters now because they are WATCHING the rest of the games at home!!!! I love it! Chokevechkin does it again!

    LETS GO PENS!!!

    Wow.
    Caps=Fail.
Rj Umberger's quote earlier this month, which caught a lot of flak here was so true:
“I don’t think any team in the West would be overmatched by them,” Umberger said. “They play the wrong way. They want to be moving all the time. They float around in their zone, looking for breakaways and odd-man rushes.

“A good defensive team is going to beat them (in the playoffs). If you eliminate your turnovers and keep them off the power play, they’re going to get frustrated because they’re in their zone a lot.”

Only the Caps did not even make the finals.

The Habs defense was fantastic. But, the Caps were extremely lazy on defense, evident on the last goal and a penalty on Mike Green.
This opens the road to the Pens, who I think take the Habs out in 5.

Odd thing, the east and west are complete opposites:
    West: 1, 2, 3, and 5 seeds won
    East: 8, 7, 6, and 4 seeds won.

That's the first tme that a one seed has surrendered a three games to one lead and lose the series
  • ptown_trojans_1
Caps PP for the series: 1 for 32. Ouch.
  • Non
    that almost defies logic

I understand the Caps are not sound defensively and wait for breakaway chances

but on the power play you have Ovechkin, Semin, Backstrom, Green able to tee it up and fire away

1 for 32...that's a hell of an effort by Montreal
  • GoPens
That was an amazing game. Edge of your seat stuff. Washington is a very good team but lets face it--their record was inflated by playing in a very weak Southeast Division.

    GO PENS!

That and did Mike Green even have a point? I think I saw they led at home for 7mins the entire series.
  • TedSheckler
Mike Green sucks. Green is the most overrated d-man in the league. He's a forward playing "D", and when it comes to actually playing D he can't do it worth a shit. Hence why he got passed on for the Olympic team. How he got a Norris nod over Weber is asinine.
  • ptown_trojans_1
I don't think he did, and he sucked ass. His series was summed up in the 2nd period when he was lazy getting a puck from the Habs end, got outskated, recovered and hit the Habs player as he went to the net, causing a PP.

At game 2, my buddy and I were sitting in front of this guy who said Mike Green was the worst defensemen in the league as he plays no defense and instead scores a lot. He did neither this series.
  • gerb131
Both excellent points. Just was stating he sucked ass this series.

Thank god my Blackhawks play Vancouver. Now I get to watch every game on TV (CBC). I need to upgrade me cable to get Versus at some point.
