But his career is far from over. I agree he's had his share of blowing it. Can't remember which one....but a couple years ago he got way too aggressive on 18 at a major, and threw it all away.IggyPride00 wrote:
Norman has 2 majors also, but like Phil will always be remembered more for the spectacular misses and ones that got away than the ones he actually won.Footwedge wrote: Michelson hasn't always fallen apart. He's won 3 majors including a green jacket.
But if he wins tommorrow, I'd hardly classify him as a choke artist. -

He has 5 runner-ups at the U.S Open alone (most of which were his for the taking), and has squandered more than a few Masters and PGA's he was in position to win.Footwedge wrote:

Phil is my favorite player, but I think even he might call himself a choke artist, or as he said "I am such an idiot". -
FootwedgeAnnouncers on Choi..."hasn't he played well".
Announcers on Woods "my how he has struggled"
Both golfers...8 under par. -

That quote was after the 18th hole that I referenced above. In that tournament, he was an idiot.IggyPride00 wrote:

Nonthis would be a big par save for Phil to remain at -11
Westwood still has to play 17 which has been the toughest -
NonMickelson in at -11
he'll be in the final pairing on Sunday -
NonWestwood stays at -12
I say if he remains there through 17 and 18 he has the right focus level to possibly win. This will be a good little test.
17 is a fast putt and it's tough under pressure -
NonCouples is already in at -7
so Tiger needs a birdie to get in the second to last pairing -
FootwedgeLooks like Tiger will birdie and play in the second pairing. Nice shot there. Tiger is right where he wants to be.
-
NonTiger and Choi again
four days in a row -
Nonnice work by Westwood on 17
he played that very consistent from tee to green
he looks very composed today, whether that changes tomorrow remains to be seen -
NonWestwood in the bunker on 18
trying to remain in the outright lead, rather than be tied with Phil and only three ahead of Tiger
so much can happen on Sunday but that could be big for the psyche overnight -
Nontouchy par putt for Westwood to close the third round
-
Nonvery nice
Westwood at -12
the leader after 54 holes -
NonWestwood -12
Mickelson -11
Woods -8
Choi -8
Couples -7 -

ohiotiger33Gotta be Westwood or Phil tomorrow. I just don't see Tiger making up enough shots. Unless he gets everything to click, which he won't because he hasn't played much at all, he will finish 2-5 shots behind tomorrow.
I will take Westwood, though Phil is a safe pick too. -
Hb31187Lol cant stand phil and his man tits
-
NonYou know what to expect from Phil, which is his usual roller coaster type play. The amazing positive spurts but then it will even out with some erratic shots.
Not sure about Westwood. In the past he has been rattled when in contention at majors but he seems a lot different this week. More composed and unflappable than usual, sort of like Immelman was when he won. But that's only through three days. It could be a different story on Sunday.
Tiger struggled a lot Saturday but still shot 70. I have to think he'll be better Sunday than he was Saturday. -
SQ_CraziesI can't really pick against Tiger in this situation. I mean, if I were to put money on it that is. He's hard to bet against when he's that far up on the board.
I think Westwood will fall apart to be honest. During the interviews after the rounds today Tiger and Phil seemed comfortable and had the just another day at the office swagger. Westwood seemed flustered and uncomfortable heading into tomorrow. We'll see, still pullin' for Tiger. -
hoops23I also find it hard for to pick against Tiger, and I can't see myself taking Westwood... Phil? Eh, maybe.. Like Non said, he can be erratic and spectacular within 5 holes, his consistency just isn't there to always pick him. Skill wise, Phil is right there with Tiger, but the mental aspect, which is HUGE in golf is what separates them.
K.J. Choi is obviously right there as well, tied with Tiger at -8.. I don't think 4 shots is all that daunting, especially when you're trying to catch up to Westood and Lefty.. If you can get it to 1 or 2 shots with a few holes remaining, the pressure will definitely be there. Tiger has done this before. -
ohiotiger33
I sort of disagree with you. I mean, Tiger has NEVER won a major coming from behind, and this is a 4 stroke deficit. True, Augusta is one of the few courses where 4 strokes is pretty much nothing. But I wouldn't bet on him. Westwood is a great, great player and has been bound to win one of these things forever.SQ_Crazies wrote: I can't really pick against Tiger in this situation. I would love to see an epic sunday charge out of Tiger, but it will take a flawless effort. I think the number that wins it is 14-15 under. So Tiger would have to throw up a 66 or 65. -
NonIf Tiger shoots 67 he will be at -13.
I think Westwood could very well be 71 today or worse with the added pressure and that would put him at -13.
Phil will be up and down but should still shoot around 70. That would put him at -13.
I think Tiger will be more like 69 and not quite enough. -
NonHow about a Tiger and Phil playoff?
