OC 2.0 progress thread
-
justincrediblelike_that asked if I would create a sticky thread for this, which I thought was a good idea, so here we are. I'll use this to post screenshots as I make progress, or give updates as far as expected launch date. I will open up a "development" version of the site for people to use before the new site goes live so I can get an idea on performance with actual usage. I also want to verify that no one has issues logging in to the new system with their old username and password.
My current goal is to have something ready for testing by the middle of September and the OC 2.0 launch in early to mid October. The main goal with the rebuild is to simplify everything. The current site is really showing its age, it's too cluttered with stuff that no one even uses, so I am stripping all of that crap out. This will also allow me to add new functionality when necessary as I will have a much better working knowledge of how the system is built (since I built it myself).
Here are a few pictures to show the current look:

Commander of AwesomeIt looks like you're getting your inspiration from your new keyboard. I dig it.

justincredibleHah, not really, but I can see the connection. I'm a sucker for a bright, basic color scheme. I had the site color scheme in place before I even knew the keyboard existed.

IliketurtlesLooks nice. I like it!

justincredibleHere's a nice little convenience feature I've added. A simple top level menu to access all forums so you can jump around the site a lot quicker.

like_thatWill it be tapatalk compatible?

It won't, unless tapatalk opens up their API to allow for custom integration. It will, however, be usable in a regular browser on a mobile device, so you won't need tapatalk for a usable mobile experience.like_that;1867183 wrote:Will it be tapatalk compatible? -
justincredibleThat said, later on I might create a custom mobile app for the site if it makes sense. The only problem with that plan is that submitting an app to the Apple store is several layers of misery and relatively expensive, so...I'd really need some motivation for that.

I wish it did because I'm never on a regular computer or IPad and tapatalk is great for nearly everything on here now except giving reps.
But I'll live and adjust ... Can't run me off -

Yes. Only moderators will have access to that forum, I don't have permissions setup on the new site yet.salto;1867199 wrote:Will the Moderator Discussion tab be hidden to regular members, similar to now? -
