3.1 people per room. That's not happening. Fact.

great argument. Really supported those facts well!

Yeah I mean even if you only got 4 people/couples to split it that would be $400 a night...I'm going to guess that is either less or right around what a regular room at a 4-5 star hotel would be and it's probably a lot less than a suite would be.

The other thing being missed here is that nearly no one attending this is spending a large percentage of their own money. It's not the same market as for a place where people are paying their own way.

He understands he was wrong, and thinks denying it is somehow preferable to that simple admission. Low character people do that.

there's 1000 room surplus in the same vicinity. I'm not wrong.

I definitely didn't even think about that but you are right I bet many going to the RNC are not paying it themselves.

I will admit I never would have guess anywhere close to 50,000 out of town guests for a convention.

    Moving on now.

I'm planning a euro trip end of August or early September. One of the stops will probably be Interlaken, Switzerland. At first I was gonna go private hostel route, but Air BnB prices are surprisingly cheap. $150-200 a night. I assumed they would be outrageous considering the COL in Switzerland.

Hopefully Zwick can clarify if that's a good deal or not. He's got rich friends.

Not really, I don't know about you, but when I travel I don't typically shack up with 3 people in one room. If 5 people from my company go we get 5 rooms.

Let's say that most that are attending are married couples, still only 2 to a room, not 3.1.

my guess would have been a 2 person average. I'm going off the RNC numbers.

My guess is that they need those amount of rooms for the people that are going to stay in hotels rather than other accommodations. They probably have statistics to show what percentage of RNC attendees stay in hotels and went from that.

I HIGHLY doubt they are bunking 3 per room, you know it, I know it.

When I was in Cleveland this weekend, the hotel desk mentioned that in cleveland proper, there's 2500 properties that are either unrented or people are giving up for the week to howard hanna. and between that and hotels downtown they would be able to house 25,000 people.
  • ZWICK 4 PREZ
here's what I find interesting.. he said in the Cleveland "area" there's another 15000 hotel rooms to house another 35000 people.. so he's using a 2.3 number.

I may be headed to New Orleans in June. Checked all these AirBnB type sites, not great deals. Bummer.
  • sportchampps
I stayed in the Holiday inn in New Orleans it was a perfect location if your going for Bourbon Street and food. Also remember Parking in New Orleans is like $40 a night so the AirBnB might include parking

If you try to book it for the week of the convention it's still $1600 a day. Good Try though
