again ..this has been established... they expect 16,000 rooms for 50,000 guests. 17,000>16,000. -

This article claims the RNC is expecting 50,000 out of town guests.
17,000 rooms though should be more than enough! -

And that's not even tackling the idea that some people will prefer a BnB experience to a hotel experience.sleeper;1791010 wrote:http://www.cleveland.com/rnc-2016/index.ssf/2015/07/despite_crowds_clevelanders_sh.html

3.1 guests per hotel room. Ever traveled for work with colleagues? Did you put 3.1 people in one room? -
sportchamppsIt doesn't matter how many rooms there are in a 45 minute radius. I can pretty much guarantee anyone going to the RNC isn't staying at a Budget Hotel or in a part of town they don't feel safe. The number of rooms that matter are 4-5 star hotels rooms in the area. If their counting a Red Roof Inn or Holiday Inn the 17,000 rooms is an inflated stat.

Or that not every hotel room in a 45 minute radius will be filled exclusively with people there for the RNC.SportsAndLady;1791013 wrote:And that's not even tackling the idea that some people will prefer a BnB experience to a hotel experience. -

So you think they're saying there will be an average of three people per room? Not happening. 16000 rooms will accommodate about 30,000. The rest will be staying in private quarters, or farther out.ZWICK 4 PREZ;1791009 wrote:again ..this has been established... they expect 16,000 rooms for 50,000 guests. 17,000>16,000. -

The 2016 Republican National Convention requires approximately 16,000 hotel rooms to accommodate the estimated 50,000 visitors who will convene in Cleveland -
ZWICK 4 PREZim not disputing people will stay in private housing... im saying a house 45 minutes away for 1600 a night is a tough sell when there's other lodging available.

Do you really think this means what you're pretending it means, instead of just admitting you're wrong? What it means, of course, is they need that many rooms to accommodate those staying in hotels, knowing that a lot of others will be staying in private residences.

Probably realized that was dumb.
Concedes that people will pay for better accommodations 45 min away, because why the fuck not?

Depends on what kind of lodging you're talking about. If I'm a wealthy out-of-stater who'd want to attend an event like this with like-minded friends and have money to burn, I'd pay 1600 for a house LONG BEFORE I'd look into what I'd guess would be a lot of that 17000 hotel rooms in the area. Just mentioning the number of rooms doesn't take quality into effect, as in what percentage of said rooms are 4- and 5-star establishments and what percentage are the sort of "no tell motel" where you'll be hearing fucking and drug deals going down through paper-thin walls? I'd guess the average rich dude would rather overpay for a house than get a cheap room in a bad/slummy part of an unfamiliar city.ZWICK 4 PREZ;1791020 wrote:im not disputing people will stay in private housing... im saying a house 45 minutes away for 1600 a night is a tough sell when there's other lodging available. -

uh huh lol you're so full of shit. I didn't imply anything.. The article expresses the numbers. To you, they're bullshit. tough shit I guess? Doesn't coincide with your narrative. -

3.1 people per room. That's not happening. Fact.
