Horrible Baby Names
-
Fab4RunnerI know a girl who named her son Lyric (awful all by itself), and named her daughter Melody. #why
Know any really bad ones? We've all heard the Lemonjello and Oranjello stories, so I am talking real babies that you actually know. -
friendfromlowryMy dumbass coworker's dumbass son named his son Titan.
-
QuakerOatsI don't think we are going back to John and Mary any time soon.

BR1986FBOne of my girlfriend's ex-coworkers named her daughter "Nausea" (spelled differently, I think) because she was always sick during the pregnancy.

HitsRusI see weird names ALL the time, and it makes me SMH that parents saddle their offspring with names that people can't spell or pronounce without correction.
One I saw along time ago,... that impressed upon me the need to be kind to my children was "Reignbeaux". -
Midstate01When my wife was pregnant and we were thinking of names, she'd have me ask a friend of mine from hs who was a real jokester how he'd make fun of the name. So we didn't name her something unique but something people who give her a hard time about. Named her Quinn in the end.

j_crazya girl who was in Pre-K with my daughter was named Ta-a. Prounounce Ta-dash-a

OSHSince we are in that "kids" stage, and my wife is a teacher, we really try to ensure that we don't do this stuff. But, we do see it all around us.
I'm really tired of the made-up names. Anymore, I see any girl's name that ends in -ley (or -lee, or -lie, or variant): Kinsley, Tinsley, Kinley, Tynley, etc. Boys names, they are -don or -son endings: Braydon, Graydon, etc.
To me, people are trying too hard to be "original" or "unique" and everyone is doing the same. Good friend of mine and his wife are kinda artsy people, went with Atticus (ironic since they are biracial and naming a kid after a "racist"). Turns out, Atticus was a top 20 name in 2014 or something like that whenever he was born. -

SpockI know someone who named their sons River, Canyon and Ridge
-
HitsRusI don't have a problem with any name that a kid won't constantly have to to correct people with the pronunciation or the spelling.....
eg. Hailleigh....Aliayah -
GOONx19I work in pediatrics so I see horrible names everyday. Yesterday a kid came through the ED named Xzit.
-
sherm03When the wife and I were looking at baby names, one of the names that we saw on the site was Abcde (pronounced AB-se-day). I can't believe someone would have named their kid that.
My kid will have a normal name. -
supermanI know a girl named Detessa. Not too bad until you learn that her parents were in the middle of a divorce when she was born and they would tell each other, "I detest you."
-
cat_loverOne of my neighbors named their daughter "Tristee". I guess that falls in the made up name category.

I actually like a lot of those names. LolOSH;1764601 wrote:Since we are in that "kids" stage, and my wife is a teacher, we really try to ensure that we don't do this stuff. But, we do see it all around us.

Belly35Because I only had daughters my one daughter named her daughter first name my (our family) last name.... Spelled the same.
it was a way to keep our last name within the family still. Many people love it and the spelling (very Irish like) so I'm sure at some point others will use my last name for their daughters name also... Kinda cool.
at first hearing my last name being use for my granddaughter first name was a little different to get use to.. But it's all good now.. And I'm proud that my name will be carried on in the family.
just think about this someday maybe your children children may choose to give their first born daughter my last name,..as her first name. Without knowing it you have a link to Belly for ever..
my other daughter used my last name as her children ( one daughter and one son ) middle name. Again a way to keep our/my last name within the family.... I'm very humbled that my girls have honored my last name by doing this. -

sportchamppsI had an ex coworker who went into labor two weeks early on OSU vs Michigan Gameday. She and her husband scrapped the names they had planned and named the twin girls Scarlet and Gray.
When we have a kid we are leaning towards Landon or Grayson for a boy or Kennedy for a girl. -
A PACI teach at an urban school district. I could post names for days. My favorite ones are when the name is spelled a certain way and pronounced completely different. Once I had a Delode (Da-lod-dee-aye). People don't realize that you can't break the laws of English to make a stupid name.
-
A PACI also hate when people pronounce the "a" at the end of a name. Dont'a Hightower from Alabama and Mont'a Ellis in the NBA are just two examples. Dumb.

BRFWould anyone like to know Belly's granddaughter's first name?
jk Belly!
That is really nice what your daughter did.
