New guy with a few P90x questions
-
SonofanumpI- Power today. Skipped on leg tris and was able to do half a set of each moving pushups.
-
rugbywrestlerStarting my 3rd week of Insanity today with some Cardio Circuit, not looking forward to it lol.
-
OneBuckeyeI am on week 8 of P90x. Has gotten pretty enjoyable.
-
SonofanumpMixed in an extra workout tonight, P90X shoulders and arms. Black bean soup with Drea.
-
SonofanumpNot so good on the Insanity Pure Cardio, had to skip level 2 pushups, power knees, suicide jacks and pushup jacks. When back from skipping 3 to 4. I'll take another shot at it next week.
-
OneBuckeyeDown to 190 from 222. 38 Pants back to 33 or 34 depending on brand. Got some nice definition going, got 4 more weeks to go.
I am debating on whether to do Insanity, another round of P90x or do a hybrid of the two. Would like to get down to 175 range with good definition. I got that ring of fat around my stomach that is the last significant fat to go away. -

I am on a rest week from Insanity and did P90X Plyo for the first time in four weeks today, unbelievable how easy it was. Got a little winded matching Dominic on the jump knee tucks and during the 180 jumps, beyond that, no problems catching my breath. Sub in Insanity Plyo for P90X Plyo and Insanity Pure Cardio for P90X Kenpo and see if you like that hybrid.OneBuckeye;721852 wrote:I am debating on whether to do Insanity, another round of P90x or do a hybrid of the two.
I'll be tri training tomorrow and back to Insanity on Monday. -

Try BR's hybrid schedule he posted in this thread. I forget which page it was, but it was somewhere toward the second half of the thread. I have been using that schedule, and it has been working out well for me. -

Status Quo for me today. I do not know if I can work in the ski abs or not. The level ones take alot out of me. -
SonofanumpI- Power today. Skipped on leg tris and moving pushups.
-
birddog23Recovery week this for me. Took day 30 pics today, and I'm liking what I am seeing.

Pure Cardio today. Big improvement. Skipped level 2s, did half of the suicide jacks and hlaf the pushup jacks. Basically, I am skipping the pushup parts of the workout, 2 minutes of "extra" breaks.
Should I work to completion or should I try out the max series since I can work in everything but the pushup parts? -

I take it you are injured/hurt where you can not perform push up activities? -

I'm just to freckin tired to do pushups with my heart rate that high. I do a P90X chest routine every once in awhile. -

How many push ups were you doing in the chest and back routine? How many Standards Diamonds etc in the first and 2nd rounds. -

You should be able to crank some out in the insanity workout, if your heart rate is too high can't you just do it at a less intense rate? BTW those last dive bomb push ups suck.Sonofanump;729034 wrote:Standard Push 30

You got to try to just push through it. At the very least do pushups on your knees. -

Or just push pause for 2 minutes and then start back up with the push ups. If you need a 2 min rest why skip the workout? Why not just push pause?
Starting week 12 this week, my knees really hurt when I did the chair lunges at the beginning of legs the last couple of times. I am doing the workout right but something about that movemetn just tweaks something in my knees. I thnk I need some wraps. -

Don't become a woman.
Honestly, i'd say make use of the pause button and do them at your own pace -

Are you doing p90x or insanity, because there is a big difference between the 2. In p90x pushing the pause button is encouraged if necessary, in order to get a complete workout. For insanity (what sonofump is doing), pushing the pause for these 2 minute breaks is completely defeating the purpose. There is a reason why in Shaun T's workouts you go hard for 3-5 mins then take a 30 second break (unless it's pure cardio). There is nothing wrong with doing the pushups on your knees if you are completely winded. I guarantee you are so tired you will still get a burn from them. Insanity is meant to challenge your physical toughness as well are you mental toughness. Pressing the pause button is taking the easy way out imo. You are only going to get to a certain level of conditioning if you don't improve your mental conditioning. Start with the knee pushups and eventually you will find yourself doing regular pushups. Stay away from that pause button.
Also, if you are struggling with phase 1 of insanity, I suggest sticking with that phase for a couple more weeks before even jumping to phase 2, because it definitely is not going to get any easier.

I have seen plenty of professional/olympic athletes go through non stop circuit workouts, and toward the end of the workout when they are burning out they do push ups on their knees instead of taking breaks. Are they women too? -

They most likely pee sitting down. -

I am doing P90x. The reason I suggested he push pause is because he said he is already taking a 2 min break. So why skip the workout if you are going to do that? Just push pause. However, I agree with you, to fit Insanity's style may he should do the push ups from his knees or modify another workout before to lessen the intensity of the overall workout.like_that;732396 wrote:Are you doing p90x or insanity, because there is a big difference between the 2. Two minutes total in breaks. Walking around to get re-couped for the next set and the heart rate under 150 from 160-162.
Thanks for the advice all.
