Cecil the lion

  • rydawg5
He didn't kill a lion though. He killed "Cecil" the lion. It's 10xs worse. Stop trying to tone down the mob. We need the media to tell us how to prioritize our anger. Lion Deaths > Human Deaths.

I've paid for 3 abortions and killed 2 lions (ok they were deer) in my lifetime...and guess what? I'd do the same again.

It is legal to take a carcass into a sanctuary and drag it to draw an animal outside to its slaughter. No I don't that is legal. And this guy already has a criminal record for doing the same stuff with a bear in the US.
Do you have evidence that they actually drove onto park land? All reports state that the baiting was done well off park property.

and what is this dentist's record
According to the AP, this is not the first time Palmer has been in trouble for hunting. Palmer agreed to plead guilty in 2008 for lying to a federal agent about where he shot a black bear in Wisconsin. He was fined $3,000 and received probation.
Palmer is properly licensed and able to practice in the state, according to the Minnesota Board of Dentistry. Board records show that Palmer was the subject of a sexual harassment complaint settled in 2006, with Palmer admitting no wrongdoing and agreeing to pay a former receptionist more than $127,000.

that linked does not say anything about them "going onto the park". If they did not actually go onto the park they committed no crime.

No one gives a shit if he broke a law or not. It was an iconic and unique animal that was slaughtered for what? I'm not anti-hunting but have a fucking point to it at least.

All these outraged idiots didn't even know who "Cecil" before this. The feigned outrage is perfect. Forget the kids killed in Africa by crazy Muslim militants or starving top death. Let's get upset over the tiger - er I mean lion's death.

gosh a ruddies it was enough to get the guide arrested and requests for Palmer's extradition. And gosh you can not believe anything the dentist says about the case, he already been convicted of lying about illegal hunting.

Lets extradite this POS to Zimbabwe where he can face justice for his heinous crime before the courts of the dictator Robert Mugabe.

    http://www.independent.co.uk/news/people/robert-mugabe-eats-a-zoo-for-obscene-91st-birthday-party-10077805.html
His guests were fed a young elephant, and two buffaloes, two sables and five impalas were also donated to the president by a local landowner. He also threw in a lion and a crocodile to be stuffed as an extra gift for Mugabe. On top of this, 40 cows were offered to the president by two members of his government. A second elephant is going to be shot and given to the Victoria Falls community.

I don't understand this line of thinking. We can only be upset over one thing at a time? Poverty, disease, starvation, and violence have plagued Africa for centuries. What difference does it make to discuss something else for a few days? There's little to nothing you or I can do about any of these issues anyways.

I don't understand the line of thinking where relevant issues can't be brought into a discussion to put things in perspective. Why should I not be perplexed by the outrage and petition drive for this guys extradition over an African lion while over 200 African school girls were kidnapped last year and we all know their fate.

    here are some facts here:

    1. Thousands of hunters go to Africa and kill animals monthly.
    2. THese countries need us to go there, hundreds of millions a year generated.
    3. Most of the money for these activities grease the pocket of local officials.
    4. 90% of these hunts are "canned hunts". THis means that the animals are baited or shot off of watering holes that are peppered with hunting blinds.

Now we actually know very little about what actually happened on this hunt. What we are being told is by the leftwing political media machine that is looking at gaining points on making this an issue. We also know that there is no way to trust what is coming from Africa.

Nor can you believe anything Johnny Rodrigues says about the case he is a tool of a corrupt government. Palmer was $$$ to the Zimbabwe government now that everything has blown up he has become a political pawn. I wonder if Johnny Rodrigues had anything to say about the innocent lion and crocodile that got stuffed for the presidents birthday.

    gosh a ruddies
and we are to believe Palmer who has already been convicted of lying about illegal hunting right here in the United States.
and paid $127,000 to settle a sexual harassment suit against him.
as was reported by "left wing political media machine."

gosh a ruddies and the perpetrator has such a sterling reputation. Illegally killing a bear, perjury and sexual harassment.

At this time, his past has nothing to do with this hunt. We should assume that he followed the law until proven otherwise.

I feel that going into hiding till the media backs off is a great idea.

Obviously his past does, when he committed a similar offense in the United States and lied about it. His accomplice has already been arrested and his extradition demanded.

I am not talking about him liking the government. I am referring to his and the government of Zimbawe's reputation. He should have just offered Cecil as a gift to Mugabe's collection of exotic animals.

gosh a ruddies it is not a matter of liking their government. Hey its their country and their laws, of course Palmer does not seem to think laws apply to him there or here.

He is presently in our country. No longer subject to their laws. I believe Cecil's severed head is in the possession of the Zimbabwean government. I am sure it will make a welcome addition to president Mugabe's collection.
