This is the most ironic post ever on the OC! I'm pissing myself laughing.

I don't think you even know what meant by this post. Just keep drinking you deadbeat, bedtime is approaching for you quickly.

Okay so we got married and we spent about $12,000. Biggest single expense was our photographer. Our pictures are excellent, so it was well worth it. DJ was $1000, food was $2100, booze was $900. My husband still thinks we spent too much, but he had a phenomenal time so he's mostly over it.

If you and your guests had a great time for $12K, I'd say you did pretty good!

My sister is getting married Vail in August. I'm stoked. I was very glad to hear they weren't having it in Ohio.

We financed our own wedding. My wife's dad had passed away 12 years earlier, and her mom was legally blind and on a fixed disability income, so we knew that tradition was out. We were both 30, had decent jobs, and I think we spent about $1500.

My wife found a wedding dress store in Lancaster - she's tall and more full-figured, but she found a returned dress was just her size for $200, and it was a beautiful traditional dress. Nothing like the suits of armor you see on "Say Yes To The Dress."

Got the use of my church for the service and reception for maybe $30, as long as we agreed to handle the clean-up. Honariums for the pastor and organist totaled $100. We did pay a co-worker to handle the flowers, cake, decorating and put together finger food for 200 people. Can't remember what all the food cost, but it wasn't huge - just chicken wings, veggies, punch, peanuts, and cake - we told folks to make sure they ate lunch beforehand. Spent $40 to rent extra tables and chairs. The photographer was a co-worker, I think that was $300, did a great job. My wife's cousin videotaped everything for us for free. Had another co-worker offer to DJ the reception, I think that was $50.

I remember thinking at one point that $1500 was a lot of money and that if we got divorced, that money would have been wasted. Fortunately, turned out to be a great investment.

    Congratulations!

Your costs don't look out of line-he should get over it!!

My son's M-I-L tried to tell them since they were contributing, they had to invite all her co-workers. She works at the high school-wanted all the teachers invited. Son said no-caused some hard feelings but they got over it

Nephew got married and his M-I-L insisted on hiring a clown. She must have watched Wedding crashers. Had a guy come in and make balloon animals.....is this really a thing now?

Wife and I got married in 2000, can't remember if it was $4000 or $5000 we spent total (well, her parents for the most part).

Using backwards inflation your $12k was about $8k in 2000, so not that far off. We did not have alcohol (wife's dad is a southern pastor) so that would have been a big cost that brought us closer to you.

We had 250-300 total guests and the reception was a blast.

Nice job having a great night without killing yourselves financially.

You're engaged now, correct? I am interested to hear how much you plan to spend.

Insanity. Is it any wonder majority of ppl aged 55 yrs or older have zero savings? People make very stupid decisions all the time.
