all things Airlines...cheap fares, fees etc.

sherm03Sportschampps - Did you ever go with that Frontier/Punta Cana flight? I called my travel agent and found out that Frontier gives you your first checked bag and a carry on for free on those all-inclusive trips.

I use the Delta AmEx, but I fly all the time, so it gives me the extra benefits of being a SkyMiles Member + a Cardholder.SportsAndLady;1722180 wrote:What do you guys use for airline miles, rewards, etc.
Credit card? Or members of airline's reward points systems?
I don't know how that works but I want to start accumulating miles/rewards.
I would definitely pick an airline. If you are trying to accumulate miles to eventually take trips (especially international) with, go with American or Delta. If you simply want miles to just to get a few free flights, all of them are good, but Southwest probably gets you the flights quickest.
Delta has fewer people in the highest tiers, especially since American just bought up United. So, you can get upgrades to 1st class a lot easier. I know you are out of Chicago though, so American might not be a terrible choice.
I ended up choosing Delta over American and US Air because my fiancee and I plan on traveling to Europe a lot. I will accumulate enough miles flying to get us their on Delta/Air France probably every year, and outside shot getting us both there in 1st class. M
Whatever you do, make sure you stay true to the airline and dont just go for the cheapest all the time. In the end, its the biggest waste of money.
One other thing of note (and it may have changed). ..Delta miles never expire, American miles do. -

Good info. I'll probably go with American since they have so many flights out of chicago. I just booked a flight on delta and started kicking myself that I didn't do research on rewards before buying it. I just used my debit card. Stupid. I took that flight from CVJ. That was the case for me.sherm03;1722183 wrote:Sportschampps - Did you ever go with that Frontier/Punta Cana flight? I called my travel agent and found out that Frontier gives you your first checked bag and a carry on for free on those all-inclusive trips. -
sportchamppsSherm - we are going to Dreams La Romana in the Dominican. We decided to not take the direct flight because it's a closer drive from the Santa Domingo airport and we heard the roads are really rough. So it will be longer flights but a shorter drive. American and United airlines.
If if we would have choose somewhere in Punta Cana we would have done that flight. My BIL and SIL are taking the direct flight and meeting us there because they hate flying with their 2 year old.
where are you staying. -

That makes complete sense. We are staying at Secrets Royal Beach in Punta Cana. Going to be a pretty good 5 year anniversary celebration.sportchampps;1722193 wrote:Sherm - we are going to Dreams La Romana in the Dominican.
