At least St Louis isn't in Ohio

    and you all may have said it already but why did they wait until 9pm to announce it?
    Schools were already closed. Many businesses were boarded up. They could have easily announced it in the morning. Under nightfall people will do some crazy shit....the freaks come out at night.

    WOndering if a few of those businesses said fuck it and hoped they get looted to collect insurance $$. McDonalds should say fuck it and not even reopen.

    Race played no factor. However the media is implying that Wilson, who is white, killed a man BECAUSE he was black.

    It's extremely low. Basically the point of the GJ is to merely figure out if there's enough evidence to go to trial. This is usually a pretty low threshold and I don't have the statistic on-hand but I bet the vast majority of cases utilizing a GJ go to trial.

    Are you sure that insurance covers looting? I've never heard of a looting clause in a policy.

    and that is why I thought it would go to trial because of such a low threshold needed.
    I doubt it is 99.9% like someone stated, but i know it is high.

    I asked ptown to propose a solution since a discussion is essentially worthless. Anytime someone states that "we need a discussion on XXtopic" I immediately dismiss than as a media manipulated moron. A "discussion" is the media's go to cliche word to solve a perceived problem with no actual solution in mind.

    It allowed all the innocent people to get home and stay safe. Do you really think there would have been a different reaction if it happened at noon? I don't think so.

    I would be fucking pissed if I owned a business and it wasnt included. You may be right though, or maybe you need a looting clause like you many times need to have Flood insurance to be covered for flooding..which is a farce a well.

    Grand jurys are selected by a current sitting judge at the time jury pools are summoned to appear. The prosecutor isn't even in the room with the pool of candidates...at least that's the case here in Ohio.

    No reason why they could not announce last night that at 2pm it will be announced. Businesses could close if not already. Schools were already closed.

    Would it be different....not sure. Doubt it could have hurt. By waiting until after dark that allowed for so many people who woulda been normally working to be home and partake in the looting..............

    I don't can't find any evidence that race was a factor either. I agree with you.

    I understand the crappy motivation for the media to try and stir such a belief but I was hoping to find someone who believes that race played a role and hear their side.

    Correct a judge selects the GJ. However, given the stated purpose of the GJ, the are typically biased towards the wishes of the prosecution which is to secure a trial.
