TBDBITL Director Fired
-
HitsRusLOL, you are a poor excuse for an OSU alum if you are one at all.
-
TiernanI'm a 2-time alum and I can guar-an-fkn-tee you I don't GAF about this anymore. Did the guy get screwed?...yeah probably but so what?...the world is full of injustices every damn day and this one doesn't crack the top 1 million in importance. Let it go band nerds.
-
sportchamppsHaha I know a lot of the OSU former band members our even more pissed because they feel Waters was the only one trying to change the culture. He is also the only one who took the fall. They said the new people in charge our the ones who looked the other way and literally never said a word about what was going on. I also heard them say one female is basically responsible for this and She wants the job.
-
sportchamppsBTW one former band member told me this all was reported back in like 1990 by Cleveland Newpapers. He said the paper even showed some of the songbooks and mentioned some of the same lyrics that are being talked about back then.
-
OSH
Because 1990 is the same as 2014...sportchampps;1641419 wrote:BTW one former band member told me this all was reported back in like 1990 by Cleveland Newpapers. He said the paper even showed some of the songbooks and mentioned some of the same lyrics that are being talked about back then. -
ts1227I'm pretty sure if the band director told alums he took a shit at 9AM every day they would label it a tradition, and probably throw a fit if he ate too much Chipotle and couldn't hold it past 8
-
HitsRusto OSH...^^^in some ways, sadly no.

The Best Damn Band in the Land

One of the few regrets over the last 28 years is the fact that I could not see our great marching band in action, for it and our great football teams combined have made Ohio State football the greatest and most meaningful spectacle in the entire nation.-Woody Hayes -
Tiernan^^^
So were you tuba or skin flute? -
GOONx19Lol. No one cares about what a pep band does on the field, as long as they can play fight songs when the team scores and can keep the crowd loud throughout the game.
-
wkfanAnyone see the interview with Waters on the Today show this morning?
Any reactions? -

Didnt see the Today show but I'm sure it was the same shit he as whining about on the front page of the Cbus Dispatch this morning...how he loves OSU and will work harger than ever to improve the band culture if they will reconsider. Are You Fkg Kidding Me Dude!?! No way in Hell the University is going to even give reconsideration a passing thought after all your little band nerds turned this into a bigger news story than Gaza. I'm ashamed for my University (which I love too Waters...) other real football schools are laughing their asses off right now that this seems to be some kind of giant priority for OSU. I pretty much mocked the band turds the entire 6 yrs I attended OSU (two degrees) except for when they did Script Ohio on Saturdays. Yeah yeah yeah I get it that seeing galloping horses, ships battleing and Michael Jackson moon walking is complex and not normal band show fare...maybe we all need to get back to realizing THE FKG BAND maybe ought to come out do Buckeye Battle Cry & Script Ohio and then get off the fkg field and let the football team be the headliners again.wkfan;1641447 wrote:Anyone see the interview with Waters on the Today show this morning?

LOL so how many members of the band pissed in your cheerios while you were a student? I graduated two years ago; wasn't in the band and was a huge football fan. But I don't share any of your views. And most grads that I know don't either.Tiernan;1641492 wrote:Didnt see the Today show but I'm sure it was the same shit he as whining about on the front page of the Cbus Dispatch this morning...how he loves OSU and will work harger than ever to improve the band culture if they will reconsider. yeah well Sparky I graduated 30 yrs ago and most of my grad buddies exactly share my views. Can't help it the pussification of America caught you and your buddies in its net. -
HitsRus^^^LOL...you graduated 30 years ago, and you still have a 10th grade attitude toward "band geeks"? ...More likely you graduated 2 years ago from West Podunk Community college.
If you are going to troll, at least do it with some credibility.
I don't play an instrument, and I have never personally known any band member, but I can vouch for 3 generations of Buckeyes in my family, including an uncle that played for the '42 National Championship team and a father that recruited for Woody.
The OSUMB has always been an elite organization and a source of pride for OSU. Next to the high profile sports teams, it is one of the most visible faces of the university. It is why 90% of the people at the 'shoe on gameday are in their seats a full 15 minutes before game time.....to see the Band come down the ramp. Script Ohio and Hang on Sloopy are nationally recognized trademarks. While the band has always been 'top 10', ...under the direction of Jonathan Waters the band has achieved a prominence that made it arguably and literally ...TBDBITL.
To fire such a talent, a highly innovative director at the top of his field, after a sham of an investigation is a tragedy for the University.. -

Tiernanbullshit...take off your scarlet & grey blinders boys. The band is OVER-rated, OVER-rated, OVER-rated.
-

What makes you say that? As far as marching bands go, they're considered one of the elite. I think this whole thing has gotten more pub than it deserves, but that doesn't discount the fact that TBDBITL is nationally renowned, whether you agree with it or not. -

Politics forum. I'd love to go back to 1990. -
TiernanI'm not talking about their performance evaluation Vball...I'm talking about how high on the OSU Esteem Ladder bandies think they are. Some of them were starting to think the football game was a sideshow to the halftime performance. Just March down the ramp, dot the I and stfu from now on.
