Bud Selig to pardon Pete Rose?

  • ernest_t_bass
    Make it happen!

On sportstalk a few months ago they were talking about this and how Selig could go out with a bang and allow him back in the game. I would like it. He did his time

Of Pete? Teh commish? Or reinstatement?

Pete has done nothing to help himself over the years. He whore's his name out to anything possible to make a buck. That reality show, the endorsement to some bedding/mattress place, etc etc etc. When people were always saying he should be in the HoF I always resisted and thought his banishment was right.

    and I still do.

Even though he supposedly only gambled on the reds to win, to me, isnt a good enough argument. What about those nights he didnt? Did he rest a player, not use certain relievers or in diff ways?

I am now pretty much on the fence. If he gets reinstated..then fine. If not, then I am OK with that as well. I also realize he has done his time. They can allow him back into baseball then it is up to the veterans committe to decide if he makes the HoF or not. I dont they will give him a yes vote though.

I am fine with Rose being allowed to be in the HOF (but not allowed to be employed by MLB) AFTER Joe Jackson is in.

Let Rose that friggin' retard into the HOF before he dies. Nobody really GAF.

    All of the above really.

    It's about time ...

I get it, he bet on baseball.

Keep him banned for life, but let him the hell in.

The HOF is illegitimate without him

This would prove not to be true if it happened.

I hope it happens...let the Hit King back into baseball where he belongs.

I favor this. Pete Rose was my favorite player growing up. That he's turned out to be a complete and total douche bag doesn't change what he did as a player (not as a manager).

Baseball has become a joke anyway why not let the biggest laugh of all back in the game?

I agree. Since Pete didn't bet on his own team and had no issues with fixes then I think it's time for forgiveness. This Pirate fan says it's time to forgive "Charlie Hustle" If an arrogant POS like Barry Bonds can keep the home run title then Rose should be forgiven.

Pete Rose is the Hines Ward of baseball...some say he's a HOFer, and others says just the hall of very good.

    Personally no fucks given.

I thought it was proven that he did bet on the Reds. Every single freaking day he walked past that sign in the clubhouse that said gambling was against the rules....and he did it anyways. I feel he hurt the game worse than the guys taking PED's. Anyways-if after the suspension he had said he was sorry and went about repairing his image instead of flaunting his gambling lifestyle by signing autographs in Vegas every other week, I might feel differently. Pete Rose loves him some Pete Rose though and that turns me off. If they put him in the HOF, I won't care one way or another.

Pete the player belongs. Pete the man does not. Put him in a couple years after his death. That's his penalty. He gets in but doesn't get to see it.

That would be a great comparison - if Hines Ward had a few more catches than Jerry Rice.

In an age where professional baseball is rife with substance abuse, collusion, inflated salaries, and inflated egos it only seems fitting that Pete Rose should receive a pardon. He's done his time.

I had the pleasure of watching Pete Rose and the rest of the Big Red Machine play in the 70's. There's no question in my mind that as a player, that Charlie Hustle deserves a spot in the HOF. As a manager - eh - not so much.

Lol this is a horrible comparison. Pete Rose as a player is easily a HOFer. Whines Ward shouldn't even be a finalist for the HOF.

That's my choice too. He gets in...because of his baseball skills .... but post humously, because of his personal transgressions.

I've heard that said with Hines....I've never heard it with Rose and quite frankly it's silly.
