Donald Sterling banned for life by NBA

lol@ your entire argument, which essentially comes down to: No one should say or do anything about anything anyone does because they've done something themselves.

Try burning down a vacant house and when getting sentenced for arson, tell the judge that because he has gotten two speeding tickets before, he has no right to pass judgment on you because he's a criminal, too. I'm sure that will work out wonderfully for you.

I hope money mayweather buys the clippers just because it would be hilarious

Yeah except I'm saying discrimination is discrimination, not speeding is arson. Nice try though.

You're correct. However, Zoltan is responding to the level of outrage and why its different.

Now, if you really want an Apples to Apples comparison, why is it okay for a black man to call for an all-black league whereas if a white man called for an all-white league he would be fired and condemned publicly?

It's not okay ,and that is a double standard that infuriates me. Lets call a spade a spade, (Not derogatory in meaning),Whats good for the goose is good for the gander. In other words call things out for what they are.

Beep boop, I am also a robot that does not understand context or varying degrees of anything. Everything in this world is black and white and fits neatly into binary boxes of either 1's or 0's. Beeeeep bwooooooop.

I can't believe his stupid ass would actually have saved enough (read: any) money back to do such a thing. I expect his ass to be broke about 3 days after he hangs up the gloves.

Arrogant asshat he is, but Mayweather is no dumbass when it comes to money.

I wouldnt want ANYONE around if they are gonna rob me, lol. I wouldnt pass judgement prior because someone is black. I wouldnt pass judgement on a Catholic either, but once they start preaching GTFO. If a black starts robbing me, GTFO.

Racism and discrimination are not the same. Goodness.

I mean, I honestly dont know how you think judging someone based on their skin is the same as judging someone because of an opinion. One thing they can control, the other they cant. Doesnt make either right...but one is SO far worse its ridiculous you are standing behind this argument.

He would have to give up gambling, I'm pretty sure. Not gonna happen

He broke the law by discriminating in housing. He is indeed worse than me. He's worse than you too.

Right now you're lumping too much together. Throwing stones at Sterling isn't indicative of living in a glass house, it's indicative of everything he's done up to this point when talking about him as a person.

If you are referring to just this specific situation, then yes, I think it's fair to say most if not all of us have uttered something discriminatory in private like Sterling did here.* But based on all of his previous actions? He's a worse person than us.

*his words were still pure racism, which I imagine is still worse than the discriminatory remarks we make

Altogether or just on the NBA?

I swear Mark Cuban hasnt stopped gambling. But maybe he just voices opinions and doesnt do it

Well clearly the NBA. I'm not positive on anything else, but it would definitely make sense(IMO).

Yeah, I am curious now. I know for sure that Mark Cuban has participated in NCAA brackets, but maybe something as trivial as that is just "accepted".

Looks like just the NBA, and obviously, Boxing would be off the table for Floyd.

An example was given about the term "retard" being used. And I think it was considered tolerable.

No one said racism and discrimination were the same. We're talking beyond racism. Saying he didnt want blacks at his game was discrimination.

You're not judging someone based solely on their skin, you're judging them based on stereotypes as well and in that affect you're judging off stereotypes in both instances.

Betting on boxing or boxing itself?

If boxing itself, why is it obvious that it'd be off the table? I'm not saying it's on the table, I'm saying I don't see how it's obviously off.

The underlined combined with the bolded are irrefutably equating racism and discrimination, therefore you proved yourself wrong. For you to acknowledge otherwise is absolutely asinine.

Betting on it. I dont think they can make him stop boxing.

No one said racism and discrimination were antonyms. So they can be the same in certain instances. I'm other instances they aren't. I'm not sure your point since Laley said they weren't the same thing. I agreed... Bc they aren't. Laley said he can't see how judging someone by their skin color is the same as judging by their opinion. It isn't. But it also isn't that simplistic. You don't judge someone simply bc their skin tone is black. You don't have a problem with the color black. It's all the stereotyping that goes on beyond the fact that they're black. Same as it's all the stereotyping that goes on bc someone is a certain religion or background or whatever. And that's where the comparison is drawn.

It happens literally everyday. You judge people based on their appearances daily. Should we? No. But we do.
Have you ever saw a white guy in a stained wife beater looking like he crawled out of the trash can and "white trash" popped in your head? Maybe you even mouthed it. You judge people based off stereotypes all the time.

Is he an idiot for thinking it looks bad his gf is with black guys in public.? Of course he's an idiot. But I know I sure as hell judge people on appearances and how situations look daily and I shouldn't either.

No chance Mayweather buys the clippers. They are going to go for around $1.5B and he doesn't have that sort of scratch. Most people don't, but he isn't exactly a popular figurehead other business men/woman would get behind either.

Also, isn't he a convicted felon? There are way too many other people out there with more money, more experience, better reputations, etc. that the other owners would want as business partners.
