It as good as Scottie Pippen and Dennis Rodman, a pair of Hall-of-Famers and arguably the two greatest defenders at their positions in NBA history? Or D'Wayne Wade and Chris Bosh?

Unless you're a Heat fan, Kobe is much more likable than LeBron. While Kobe might be hated by many (which is why I included him in my list), he's nowhere near the asshole that LeBron is.

Wade is the worst in the NBA by a mile.

This has nothing to do with Lebron, you listed Kobe as someone you CAN'T hate.

From the OP: "What athletes I can't hate or maybe better said that I just can't root against(unless playing my team), that a lot of people don't like."

Kobe is very easy to hate. I definitely can't stand him. Dude is a terrible teammate.

Still not sure why you were bringing Lebron into it when we were talking specifically about Kobe. Maybe I missed something.

I think he said it because LeBron was mentioned in the thread earlier. Just my guess.

I like the 'core' players of the Cleveland Indians....Brantley, Kipnis and Gomes. Hard to hate guys who are not prima donnas, love to play the game, and play it the right way with enthusiasm and professionalism.

    Basically.

While this is all a matter of personal opinion, I don't understand how anyone could hate Kobe but not LeBron. (Not saying that robj said that, because he didn't, but just in general).

As I said, though, it's a subjective argument. But fuck, Lebron is a fucking douche.

What Lebron did to Cleveland is basically unforgivable, but outside of that he has been incredibly clean cut and a role model for kids. Never in trouble, does the right think. Arrogant yes, but Kobe is wayyyy more arrogant to me.

    Lol come on

Lebron isn't bad, but he's not an angel. And I hate when athletes are referred to as role models. Ugh

LeBron's recent comments about being on the Mount Rushmore of the NBA was pretty damn arrogant. Not even Kobe says shit like that.
From ESPN wrote:Four days after it was revealed James said he'll go down as one of the four best players in NBA history, Bryant offered up his Mount Rushmore on Sunday night at the All-Star Game.
Bryant's picks? Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson and Russell. LeBron also listed Jordan, Bird and Johnson, but ultimately settled on Oscar Robertson as his fourth choice.

Who comes across as a bigger douche there? The guy who lists the four greatest players in NBA history as Jordan, Bird, Magic and Russell, or the guy who lists Jordan, Bird, Johnson and Robertson, but adds that caveat that he'll be replacing Oscar in a few years.

LeBron just can't get enough of himself. As we saw with "The Decision," he's as egotistical as they come.

We can agree to disagree, though.

He was asked the question and answered his honest opinion. That decision also raised thousands of dollars for the Boys and Girls Clubs of America which no one ever mentions. Kobe threw Shaq under the bus and got him kicked out of town after Shaq carried his sub 40% shooting self(in the finals) to three straight titles. Then he threw the whole organization under the bus and his entire team and coach when he wasn't good enough to raise the level of play of his teammates and got bounced in the first round of the playoffs. They both have done egotistical things but you know who was even more egotistical? Michael Jordan. Part of what makes players great is confidence and ego.

Not saying he's an angel at all, just that he is pretty much squeaky clean, especially someone with the amount of pressure and stature that he has had since he was a teen. Like it or not for a lot of kids they are role models, right or wrong.
