True Detective (HBO)

  • Tiernan
Pitt and Morgan Freeman back together like in 7 (which is still one of the best detective / psycho flicks ever).

Obviously Cohl and Hart revisted it...if they had the picture on their board then they had a reason to think it was important.

Just because the writers didn't spell out every last detail so you could connect the dots in your coloring book doesn't mean they didn't give a shit about plot or that there were holes. Why they had the picture wasn't important enough or critical enough to waste air time on....for whatever reason their investigation caused them to have interest in that house (and really that was broadly addressed with them pouring over old case files and following every lead, no matter how obscure).

No interest in Pitt. Steve Buscemi will have wrapped Boadwalk Empire by then (just throwing that out there).

I think actors, including big names, will be lining up. But I have a feeling we'll see a familiar HBO Series face in at least one of the major roles.

Can't predict without knowing the story line. Michael Chiklis would probably be a slam dunk.

    Ed Norton and Will Smith.

Will Smith might be one of the few who's too big of a star to do this.

I bet one of the two will be a woman. No idea who that would be. I'll throw out Jamie Lee Curtis and Sigourney Weaver (not saying I want to see them)

Well I can't stop thinking of Christian Bale now that it has been mentioned. Seriously....#dead.
  • Tiernan
Think of him in "The Fighter" that should cool your kitty.

Don't hate that at all. Pitt is a tremendous actor. Hope he isn't solo though.

    Agreed.

I like the idea of chasing a fugitive. The murder case last year was fantastic, but it would be hard to measure up to again (not to mention, the concept is overdone).

Knowing HBO, his partner will be some hideous lesbian.
  • Fab4Runner
I would be totally okay with that.
  • gut
So not hideous....now fingers really crossed for lesbian :)
  • Raw Dawgin' it
I've only seen one scene from this show and it was amazing.

The only show I can think of with that description is Girls. True Detective, GOT, Boardwalk Empire, etc don't really fit that criticism.

Sounds like Rachel McAdams will be the female lead.

    So not Ferrell and Vaughn?

Huh? This season is 2 Males and a Female.

For the record, Farrell and Vaughn are gonna be awesome. Some of Vince Vaughns best roles are his serious ones.

Oh nice. Sorry I didn't know it was two guys one woman.

Yeah, it was speculated it would be a Male and Female. But, it was announced a few months ago it would be 3 leads. 2 cops and a former criminal trying to bring down a politician...I think thats all correct lol.

I was hoping for Abigail Spencer after that video and knowing she would probably not have an issue getting naked. Rachel McAdams aint gonna. HBO will have someone in there like last year, though.

From the PDF I posted the other day:
Three police officers and a career criminal must navigate a web of conspiracy in the aftermath of a murder.

    Cast:
Colin Farrell as Ray Velcoro, a compromised detective whose allegiances are torn between his masters in a corrupt police department and the mobster who owns him.

Vince Vaughn as Frank Semyon, a career criminal in danger of losing his empire when his move into legitimate enterprise is upended by the murder of a business partner.
