    See below.

FWIW, I didn't catch it during the episode either. Took some thinking afterward to come to that conclusion.

And also, when Tyrion said he demanded trial by combat there was a reason why the cameras showed Oberyn's response.
But it's otherwise tough to guess The Mountain in the other half of that. You think it's obvious having read the books, but for a viewer there's been little mention of The Mountain...and without him no real reason to suspect the Red Viper....thats really fucking subtle, a guy who's been mentioned like twice is going to fight on Tywin's behalf.

Heck, it would have been just as easy to assume the Red Viper would want to fight FOR Tyrion's death. Tyrion is, after all, a Lannister (and not one the Red Viper has shown any love for).

I just asked my coworker. She had no clue either.

Damn...GoT...only for the intelligent elite. :RpS_bored:

Why else would he be there?

It's not your job to decide what is obvious, it's your job to basically stay off this thread.

Ya, get that huge brain the fuck off the thread. We don't like yuurrr kind 'round here.

    Makes no sense.

You don't tell me what threads I can or cannot post on. There haven't been any spoilers. If there has been it's because of stupidity.

If you seriously can't comprehend what we are saying (no spoilers, even if you read future ep titles), then you shouldn't be posting on this thread.
I SAID, "WHO DO YOU THINK THE FIGHT WILL BE AGAINST!!!???"

I've not read the books, and I had no clue who it would actually be between.

Well, see post above. It is Stannis.

There's no logical way a viewer could know The Mountain would be the champion for the Kingdom - he's literally mentioned like 3 times in the entire show history and only seen once (if that).

Also, no episode this weekend due to the holiday. Dammit!
This coming weekend, or the following (Memorial Day?)

I dunno, assassinate Tywin? Take Jamie's other hand? Commiserate with the Tyrells to overthrown Baratheon/Lannister rule? Jack off in the grand maester's shampoo? Fuck all if I know.

And to be fair, he makes the most sense for sure. But things aren't always the most obvious in the series, with no prior knowledge of future events.

    ETB, it's Memorial Day weekend.

And likewise, there's not rational reason a viewer would think it would be anyone other than Oberyn, particularly after the last episode. Or unless you buy into Sports and Lady's idea that it is just some random new person.

Well I get that we should assume it would be Oberyn, but that's only half of it...and we'd be guessing the wrong half.

That was a deleted scene from two weeks ago.

Stop watching the show. You're too dumb for it.

Pretty sweet detailed map I found. I didn't realize Dany was THAT far away. Shit, Qarth is the furthest away from anything.

You probably shouldn't start with the map....Needless to say GRRM took a lot of liberties about the ability for armies (or ravens for that matter) to travel.

MB, no offense, but you see things in the show because you know them. It is literally going to be impossible for you to watch from a perspective of someone who has no clue what is going on. We have all demonstrated that we didnt think it was as obvious as you did. I dont see what is so hard about this...just post on the other thread if you want to mention stuff as 100% fact because you know it.
  • gorocks99
So, back to the show, who do you think is going to be in the trial by combat next week? My guess is a White Walker and zombie Ned.

Edit: Second guess, Rickon vs. Varys.

Assuming you know it's Oby because of last episode, then knowing Oby fucking hates the mountain and wants to kill him for raping and murdering his sister should fill out the 2nd half.

No offense teaken, and the spoilers are likely over because they've already moved on (and IMO for the best), but Oberyn, come on, man! That was obvious.

My roommate does it right. He's a GoT guru and read all of the books, front to back.

He treats the books and the show as separate things, BECAUSE THEY ARE. When we are watching or discussing the show, he doesn't say shit about the books. Crazy concept, right?!!?
