after the uproar over the lack of black actors/films up for awards last year, was it really a surprise that best pic, best actor, best supporting actress...well, you get the picture

I want to see this. I read the book and it was terrible, but the movie looked a lot better.

I havent seen Moonlight yet, Viola Davis was for sure the deserving winner. And Casey Affleck is white.

And Viola Davis was in Fences, not Moonlight.

Haven't seen Logan yet, going sometime this week. Saw Xmen Apocalypse. 7/10. I get why the film wasn't as loved as some of the others, but I didn't mind it, and thought it was decent.

I know. Which I've seen. Which is why I commented she was definitely the deserved winner. But can't comment on Moonlight or Ali.

I saw Logan last night. I'd give it a 7. It ran a little long.

I do plan on watching it this week.

Not saying it was deserving. But I did think Davis was.

The Wraith - Weird 80s action/car movie starring Charlie Sheen and Dennis Quaid. Movie was trash, but had some fun bits with brutal car wrecks/explosions. 4/10

I think I might have seen the end of that a long time ago. At least the name seems familiar.

One of my favorite awful movies. Haven't seen it in years.
  • Fred Garvin
    Sicario
Had not heard of it but watched it on Prime. Very good and worth the time to watch. 6.5/10

The Nice Guys - 6.5/10. I thought it was funny.

LOL - I guess I'm not the only one who has a guilty pleasure for that. Quintessential early California Brat Pack kitsch. I crack up whenever I picture Clint Howard with that lab coat and wild hair-do, peering under the hood with the lighting bolts coming out of it, and saying "Uh - I've never seen anything like this ..... ".

I made the wife watch "The Man With One Red Shoe" (1985; Tom Hanks, Dabney Coleman, Carrie Fisher, Lori Singer, Jim Belushi) with me the other night. Lite fare with a pleasant 1980's faux sophistication. Great interaction with the character actors who play competing spies for different CIA factions.

Mrs. Zunardo kept rolling her eyes thru the movie.

Logan-solid 8.5/10. What a Wolverine movie should have been from the beginning, full of violence.
  • Fab4Runner
Kong: Skull Island- 7/10. Pretty entertaining, and John C Reilly killed it.

Same. 7/10. It was pretty much exactly what I expected, fun movie. Setting up for future monster movies. Brie Larson gets a 10/10 though.

Allied - 5/10. It was fine. Not that interesting to me, and kinda boring.

The Accountant - 6/10. Pretty good action movie.

Snowden - 6/10. Pretty interesting, especially since I didn't remember a whole lot about the situation when it originally happened.

    Logan 8/10.
As jmog said, what a Wolverine movie should have always been.

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest - It was my first time watching it. 8/10

The only thing I didn't understand was the actress winning best actress for playing Nurse Ratched. I thought she did ok, but I wasn't blown away by the performance.

I need to watch Chinatown now.

Wow, you are going WAY back.

I agree with you on your assessment of Louise Fletcher winning the award for best actress.
  • Dr Winston O'Boogie
Allied: 6/10. The premise was great. The story however didn't seem to ever reach this potential. I didn't feel strongly about the two main characters at all and I think that's what was needed to really make it work.

My husband and I always record about 25 movies when there is a free HBO weekend, so we have a bunch saved for rainy days. Willem Dafoe has been in the last four that we randomly selected to watch. It really weirded me out, lol.
